I started out yesterday good as I got 10 points on the wheel!!!
Then I got in my car to go to work and a message appeared on the dash, "Tire pressure low." So I inspected the tires and a rear tire was about half out of air. Drove to nearest free air (first one was 75 cents and second one was out of order). As I drove to work, now late, I called in and told supervisor I would be late and probably would need to get the tire looked at. As I neared work I found a place and decided to have the tire fixed, assuming a nail or something similar was in there causing the leak. I figured if I drove to work and let the car sit all day in the ramp, then after work I would have to call a tow truck and all of that would have cost an extra $85 or so just for the tow. So left the car at the shop for the tire repair. Walked 2 blocks to a coffee shop (got out my walker for that which was luckily in my car). Ordered a large coffee and decided to get up to ladies room while it cooled off, but spilled it all over the place (missed my purse by that much!!!). I felt so embarassed and the girls were so nice giving me a replacement....they said it happens every day.
When I got back to my car, they said it was a screw in the tire. Their minimum charge for tire repair is $32.99. Wow, guess I haven't had a tire repair for a really long time...I think last time it was $5. (This sticker shock is probably a sure sign of aging.)
Anyhow I was 2.25 hour late for work and in order to not have an "incident" counted against me in terms of absenteeism, I had to make it up and was the last person in our department when I left at roughly 6:00 p.m. That was a long day.
Now the good news, I decided to check my lottery ticket from powerball on Wednesday and I matched 4 numbers.... I was so excited...I went to the closest SuperAmerica and cashed it in. I won $100. I felt that someone upstairs was watching over me and helped pay for my unfortunate flat tire repair. That really lifted my spirits.
This morning I feel I actually got a good night's sleep and water aerobics starts in 1.5 hours and I will be there with bells on. This afternoon I am having early dinner with 5 gals I used to work with and we will all commisserate about how happy we are we don't have to work there (transcription) any more. Two of us had job injuries (me included) and another was let go because she had a partial hearing loss and has been on unemployment for over a year now and can't find a job. The other gal with hand injury due to the job was let go last week as she is not able to do the job at the correct speed now and has not been able to find a job to transfer to (I was very fortunate to find another job with the same company).
It is 30 days to my birthday...and I will be 64.....
