Saturday, cleaning and organizing papers for taxes next week.

Saturday, April 03, 2010

My friend is coming over for Easter dinner so I have to get the kitchen and living and bathroom cleaned up (minimum). I also have to sort through papers and get my stuff together to bring to the tax lady this week. (She is a CPA.) I donated 650 boxes of miscellaneous dishes and other things I had bought to sell on Ebay and finally got the basement cleaned up last May (my daughter helped me so much) and we also filled 2 dumpsters with stuff that had to be thrown out. I think she decided to help me with this project as she knew (and didn't tell me at the time) that she was moving 1000 miles away in December of last year. I surely miss her. She used to do most of my housework and lately it has piled up espeically when my knees have been sore. If I could afford it I would fly her home for a cleaning spree. All I have to do is win the lottery!!!! emoticon

P.S. I bought 5 powerballs with powerplay this afternoon with winning tickets I had saved up.

I also have to get organized for the tax lady (me). My DS is coming over today for a while and my DD and her SO for dinner tomorrow so I need to clean too. Right now I am getting ready for grocery shopping - making my list and checking it twice...

You are going to have a major tax deduction for all those dishes!

Be good on Good Friday....

Friday, April 02, 2010

I am working as usual. I feel better this morning than yesterday. I spent one hour in water aerotibs yesterday and then half an hour doing exercises in the whirlpool and feel loosened up and know I knee to keep after those knees (especially) to keep them limbered up. Yesterday and day before felt like "the tin man" in the morning. Have to keep scar tissue from forming in operated knee (replacement last June). I am going to walk outdoors after work today. I am waiting for son-in-law to come over and put the bolts in my recumbent bike and then I should be able to do that at least once a day. At the gym I manage to stay on the recumbent bike about 15 minutes at a time. When I get my bike at home is operational I know I can start with 15 minutes twice a day. I think that will help that tight feeling in my knee.

I have to go to the grocery store after work today and decided to cook a simple meal for the three of us on Sunday (hubby, my girlfriend and me). Hubby and me are planning to go to early church service (not a sunrise service, however). Then we will pick up my friend and have a quiet afternoon at home. We decided not to go out and face the crowds at the restaurant as they do not take reservations and the three of us are not good "waiters." emoticon

Your plans sound like a nice time of relaxing and being around some of your favorite poeple. I know what you mean about the knees, I had scope surgery on my left knee to repair a tare and if I don't exercise those knees regular I get stiff, it sounds like you are doing a good job of trying to keep them felxible. Have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Easter.

Hugs,
Shirl

A quiet weekend with friends sounds like just the ticket to me. I prefer eating at home to long lines at a restaurant. Have a wonderful weekend! emoticon

I am also having a quiet Sunday. I decided against inviting over my niece and her children. I want a day of quiet reflection, not eggs and bunnies.

Short week whizzing along...is it Thursday already?

Thursday, April 01, 2010

I only had to work 4 days this week as I had Monday off to take Hubby to doctor.

I managed to go to the therapy pool Monday and Wednesday and am feeling better. Still might need to see orthopedic doctor cause I have lots of stiffness in the operated knee and both ankles and calves are swollen. (I am on diuretic and maybe that needs to be increased.)

The allergy season has started ...the temperature was up above 75 yesterday in Minneapolis, MN. Amazing this time of year. We just had the first snow free March in over 100 years and February had only 0.1 of an inch (another record?). The only good thing about that is not much snow shoveling/plowing had to be done this winter. The spring grass fires have started and we are a little low on total precipitation. (Is there ever such a thing as "perfect weather?"

Trying to be holy on Holy Thursday and tomorrow will try to be good on Good Friday!!!! emoticon

Way to get over to the therapy pool. I am glad to hear your feeling better. Yes, good old allergies are they joyous. The weather here in MN has been awesome and I would have to say we could not have been any more blessed. I will pray we pick up on the precipitation as the year progresses. Slow and gradual would work! emoticon emoticon

Biding my time after work before therapy pool...

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

I am excited to go to the therapy pool today. I know it will loosen up that stiff knee. It did get better as the day went on and I did range of motion exercises at lunch time.

It's a slow day...

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

computer took 45 minutes to connect to internet. Can't figure out what is wrong but there was a recent upgrade to the security program from Comcast so will probably have to call and get help this evening.
My operated knee is extremely tight and sore this morning which is unusual. If this continues I will have to touch base with the surgeon.

Hubby tried to ride his bicycle today and realized his balance is not good so he only rode it to the end of the block and back. He is a bit disappointed and I tried to encourage him, telling him he should walk more to get his strength and balance improved before going further on the bike. I had a feeling this would be the case as I noticed he is a bit tippy when standing up and turning around, etc. I have been trying to encourage him to go for walks for months and perhaps this will motivate him to think he will be able to ride his bike this summer.

Offer to walk with him occasionally, (if you can). It does sound as if he might be able to use some help.

Now that the weather has turned nicer, everyone wants and needs to be more active. Just keep encouraging him and do the best you can.

    Do call the internet people!

I am so excited for your hubby! He'll get there. Keep encouraging him. Building his leg strength and core muscles is all he needs. It won't take long, but it will take consistency.
