Sunday...a new week...big plans

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Yesterday turned out to just be a lazy day and I didn't make it to the gym or pool. Today I feel well rested and am getting ready to go do the recumbent bike, swim, then whirlpool and exercise my knees in the warm water, too.

Last week I managed to do water aerobics for 3 hours. This week my goal is 4 hours.

Acceptance versus frustration....

Saturday, March 13, 2010

I slept in (until 7:30, I'm usually up by 4:30). I missed my water aerobics class but decided it is just as well as the bouncing in the shallow end of the pool just would be a killer on my feet today. I am going to do solo water aerobics at the deep end. I spent 3 hours in the pool doing exercises this week and today will be the 4th hour. I know it helps and I have to do it or I will build up scar tissue in my knees.

I went to hand therapy yesterday and have to work on scar massage from my Dec 29th CTR and trigger thumb release surgeries. I also have some exercises to do to get strength back in my hand and though hand exercises don't sound like much work my muscles are weak and lazy from taking it easy for 2 months.

I have decided as far as getting the other hand surgery done on the left it is just as well to wait because I need "one pretty good hand" in order to work, drive, etc. So that will probably not be until 2011.

And the same goes for getting the second knee replacement...(has to wait) and perhaps it is part of some "divine plan" that I can't have it right away. I have had sore knees for about 20 years, what's one more?

You are in my thoughts and prayers. Surgery is such a huge stressful undertaking.

Bummer but at least you haven't been told you can't have the surgery. Waiting is tough but you are tougher.

I might be a stress junkie!!!

Friday, March 12, 2010

So things have been pretty calm this week and my stress level is down. So here I am Sparking and need to leave the house in 12 minutes and have not gotten dressed yet nor brushed my teeth nor taken my vitamins....... emoticon
P.S. I got going in time and punched in at work on time without speeding....

I'm definitely doing more time on Spark People. I try to confine it to evenings on most days. It keeps me busy so I don't eat.

I vote for Spark junkie! I can log on for a 'few minutes' and an hour has passed before I know it. And I am still not done yet!

Oh no! I feel the stress just reading your blog! I am either early or on time almost always! I do understand your pull to work the spark though! Hope you weren't late!
Have a good day working your plan! emoticon emoticonRitarose

You could be right. I like to be on time or early and my wife is either on time or late. It drives me crazy.

Dentist, then water aerobics...

Thursday, March 11, 2010

What an exciting schedule I have..

6:00 to 3:30 work at office
4:30 to 5:00 dental crown applied
6:00 to 7:00 Best part: Water aerobics then whirlpool at gym

Tomorrow I have hand PT in the middle of the day and hope to build up some strength and work on scar tissue in hand due to surgery in December.

This weekend I plan to track down all the papers I need to get taxes done. This year might get a refund. (I can dream, can't I?)

I am trying to think of ways to reduce the hunger pangs at work....one way I thought of was to drink a minimum of 4 cups of water today while at work. Have been having trouble getting in 8 cups a day and I know that will help with the "munchies." Also plan to cut up some cucumbers and celery to snack on and stay away from the "candy corner" at work.
Packed my lunch and already tracked the nutrition.

You've already gotten many good suggestions.

I find water easier to do when I have a 24 oz bottle at my side all day long. Of course, I have to have it full of water to begin with and then I have to refill it.
emoticon
But, somehow, thinking of and drinking 3 of the bottles is so much easier than dealing with 8 glasses of water.

YOu're on the right track.

Planning ahead to snack on healthy things at work is a great idea. I, too, am tempted by the candy jar at work. I need to start packing celery and carrot sticks as an alternative.

Good for you packing healthy snacks for work. I've been having trouble getting all my water in lately too. Here is to 8 glasses a day.

Lots of water and celery! I find that a cup of diced celery really feels me up!

I also had trouble getting in the water until I bought myself a stainless steel water bottle with a little hook that can clip onto my purse or my finger when I'm walking.
I take it almost everywhere with me. I holds 4C of liquid, so I try to have 3 of those a day. I joined a challenge in Feb to have no pop (soda) and I did it. Not drinking pop means I had to replace it with something ---ahhhh water! Water also doesn't give you that urgent need to get relief that pop or coffee gives me.

You're doing great!! Congrats! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Drinking water at work definitely helps. I try to keep water on my desk at all times. I also keep small cups of applesauce and bags of almonds in my drawer in case of 'snack attack'.

Running early...(timewise)

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

I can't run...but I am getting to work early today and tomorrow to allow for a "long lunch" at PT for my hand. Hopefully, the weakness and stiffness will be helped with a few visits to PT. I am sure they will give me hand exercises and possibly a splint for nighttime and driving. Yesterday I managed (quite well I might say) to use my left hand for my trak ball mouse. That helped a lot and even my neck was feeling okay after an 8 hour day of computer work.

Things look good today.... next project to tackle....get the papers together to get the taxes done. emoticon emoticon

I'm rather certain PT will help; it has for me when I've had hand surgery ~ I had a bone taken out of each thumb and have had joints fused on two different fingers.

I KNOW your tension level will drop when your tax papers are sorted, then life will be even better when taxes are done!

Wow, you're in a good place ~ "up" is the way you're going. Life is good that way, after "down" there is "up."
