Running late....

Tuesday, March 09, 2010

Gotta get to work on time. No use giving excuses to management for downgrading my "performance." The end of this month with mark 20 years with the company. (Last year they discontinued the nice presents that gowith that, $300 gift certificate, boo-hoo).

In this economy, I am grateful to have a job--any job. So I need to show my appreciation by getting there on time. Bye... emoticon

So will make lemonade...

Monday, March 08, 2010

I found out today that I probably won't be able to get my other knee replacement done until late this year or early next year. My knee hurts a lot and I even tried a Sinvisc injection which didn't help much, if at all. I also have a really fancy, expensive brace but it doesn't really help a lot. I have been limping and so, of course, my back and neck are hurting now, too.

The lemonade:

I know my knees felt better when I was only 180 pounds, so I have incentive to get my weight down there again since I can't have the surgery to fix the worn out knee.

Another good thing about getting down to 180, is that my knee replacement will last longer, too. My actual goal weight is 150.... perhaps I can get there by December and that will make recuperating from the second knee replacement easier.

I can think of a lot of good things regarding carrying around less weight.... emoticon

Your knees will be more forgiving as you lose the weight. Just take it slowly and keep on exercising. We are all here for you.

Losing weight has definitely helped my knees. It is actually pretty amazing to me. Before I started this I was sure I had ruined my knees for good!

I am sorry I missed your first post yesterday - sounds like it was interesting...

As long as the surgery hasn't been cancelled totally, I guess you'll have to make the most of it. Do the best you can and I'll be thinking of you!

Sorry about the delay in the surgery. I have noticed that since I started packing on the pounds, my joints are often sore too. Amazing what a few extra pounds do to a body. Good luck to you

I am sorry, but that sucks, I know how it'd make me feel, but when you say you have control over how you respond that is so right, you can make the choice to be the better person, but that's not always easy to do, especially when someone has their finger wagging in your face. In Sunday School class yesterday we were discussing how as chrisitans our actions and response's are watched and how it's up to us to be a good example, again, not always easy to do, need lots of praying. Sometimes I have to pray "Dear Lord please put your hand over my mouth to keep me from inserting my foot" Praying you have a good week at work and that your work surroundings become more friendlier.

The work world has it's challenges doesn't it? I LOVE my job, but their is one person who makes it her mission in life to try to make it miserable for me. I have to choose how I will react to her leaving her mess for me to clean up and her not doing her job, but rather leaving it for me and her anger outbursts. Last week she put her finger in my face, wagging it and saying, "I'm getting tired of you!" Without a second pause, I did the same to her. I was so ashamed of myself. It's made me think that the only thing I have control over is my response. I'm working on it. I pray that you have a good week as you figure out how to deal with your challenges too! emoticon

Going to gym this a.m., feeling better

Sunday, March 07, 2010

I managed to walk for 45 minutes last evening with hubby. Today I HAVE to go to the gym and do the recumbent bike and swim and whirlpool. I always feel better physically and mentally when I exercise, preferrably every day. I plan to feel better for work tomorrow. My 20 year anniversary with the company is coming up the end of this month. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Change in plans due to scintillaintg scotomata...

Saturday, March 06, 2010

Those are those swirling lights people see due to migraines. I usually take a nap for an hour or so and I am fine but today this has lasted about 6 hours so far and has not let up. I don't usually get a headache with this "prodrome" but I am now getting one. I had such grand plans and they have all gone out the window. Perhaps I will feel better in a few hours and will then go to the gym and get in an hour of exercise. emoticon

Just take good care of yourself. The gym will still be there tomorrow and you need to be feeling better first.

I hope you feel better soon! I never had that, but often when I got a migraine one side of my face would 'run'. Usually on the left, my eye could continually tear and one side of my sinuses would continuously drip. The pain was on that side as well. Luckily I have not had one of those since I hit menopause several months ago.

I get something similar, but they don't last long. I hope you feel better. Maybe you can salvage your plans.

I get Opthalmic Migraines, which are my own personal light shows. But - they only last 20 minutes and they never hurt. They do kind of freak me out, but the doctor did a bunch of tests and said not to worry. I hope your problem has cleared up by now. My thoughts are with you.
