Pretty much covers my goals for today. Would like to finish Chapter 7 of The Spark...should be able to sneak that in.

First week of half days at work was difficult especially with bad cough lingering on. Getting 10 hours of sleep a night has made me feel "more human."

I need to start a journal to help me sort out "things to do" and "how I feel." I have felt a bit numb lately and I think journaling would be therapeutic.

Hope everyone appreciates the weekend as much as I do...which is alot..alot...alot!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

    What do you think about using the blog to journal. That's what I'm trying to do. It helps me to know it's a public doc and I welcome the feedback. Of course, my deepest darkest thoughts go under my bed!

    I haven't tried writing in a journal yet. Let us know how it goes. I'm glad to hear you're back at work half days. I was so happy to be able to do half days after I broke my ankle and it started to heal. Enjoy your weekend.

    Journaling is always a good idea. If you put it down in black and white, it makes it real, gets whatever it is out in the open.

Odd schedule...

Went to bed last night at 6:30 p.m. Am now wide awake at 1:30 a.m. Will stay up an hour or 2 and then go to gym around 6:00 to get some exercise, steam room and whirlpool to loosen up before going to work. My new schedule at work is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. so going to gym before work is much easier with the later start.

I have plenty to do this a.m. including dishes, laundry, etc.

Can also do some "bed" exercises for knees and back before going back to sleep for an early morning nap. I think this cold is requiring me to sleep a lot to fight it off. Some herbal tea will help, too. I have some camomile tea that will hit the spot. emoticon

Cough, cough, sputter, sputter....But I am feeling much better and work gets better with each day back. However, thank god it's Friday (tomorrow). I am not disturbing my coworkers so much with my hacking as the new inhaler is helping and I am sucking on cough drops and drinking lots of water.

I sure will appreciate my health after this cold is gone....

Plan to sit in steam room tomorrow morning before work if the driving isn't too bad (predicted a slippery rush hour). emoticon emoticon

She said my lungs sound good except for wheezing on expiration so she gave me an inhaler with steroids. I joked to a coworker they should watch for 'roid rage (I am sure he knew I was kdding). I will be able to go to work tomorrow as I am not running a fever. My blood pressure was pretty high 180/98 which is unusual for me but dr said it was probably from all the hard coughing I have beendoing. I took a 3 hour nap this afternoon and feel a bit better for that. I probably will stay away from the gym a couple more days.

Dr. said a lot of people with a cold like mine have been sick 3 to 4 weeks (something cheery to look forward to....)..... just have to stay hydrated and do some exercises at home. Some of my best back and leg exercises I do in bed in the morning before I get up. Perhaps tomorrow I will be up to walking on the treadmill 15 minutes or so (I have one at home).

Hope no one reading this blog gets a nasty virus (cold) like this. I haven't had anything like this for over a year when my supervisor Tina and I were referred to as Tina and Teddy Typhoid. That one was actually worse with generalized malaise and lost time from work. (I have missed only 2 days from this one.)

Not completely well, but returning to work anyhow..

I still have a bad cough but no fever and I really have to get back to work after my LOA. I am done with the Z-pack and tomorrow will be done with the prednisone. I am bringing my inhaler and lots of cough drops and kleenex. I have to work only 4 hours and half of that will be spent trying reorient myself to all the changes that came down the Pike while I was out for over a month. They changed some of our work flow and ways of accessing things on the computer. I am sure there is an update that will have to run for an hour or so before I can even log on. Take out a 15 minute break and one bathroom break and doesn't leave a whole lot of time to work.

I know it will be okay. Have to get that shoulder to the wheel.... emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Funny thing about work-it's always there no matter now much time you take off. And updates-heavens! There are daily changes, weekly changes, changes period! About the time I know what I am doing, guess what? Another change!
