Possibly last day of LOA...and back to work tomorrow

Thursday, January 28, 2010

I went swimming for 35 minutes in the morning at the therapy pool and that made my knees feel a lot better.

My friend said the AA expression 1 day at a time might be a good one for me. I have been feeling rather afraid of things pretty far in the future of late and naturally it is not helpful to do that.

Focus on today and only today. Tomorrow will come soon enough and it will be what it will be. Worrying about the future is pointless. So much can change in the blik of an eye. Take care and I hope all goes well for you and your husband..

Bless your heart. You have more than your fair share of tough breaks here lately. Your friend is right. One Day at a Time is the only way to handle life. Otherwise the stress of worring would be just to overwhelming. Hope you can find someone to help out.

Your friend is right. Take one day at a time. Try to focus on the here and now to help you deal with the future later. I'll keep you in my thoughts and hope everything turns out well.

totally right, one day at a time, our prayers are with you and your husband, as a fellow sparker dealing with similar issues with my husband I can sympathize and relate, but do not forget to take care of yourself also, good luck today!

Your friend is right. You have enough to worry about in the present without looking into the future for more! One Day at a Time!

Lord, how about 1 less problem today?

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

I was going to pray for 1 problem at a time, but I think that is impossible, but I know I need to focus on 1 at a time or I won't get anything accomplished.

I know God helps those who help themselves, so I am working on it. I started out the day by calling 2-1-1 and talked to a nice volunteer from the United Way who was located in Duluth (about 150 miles north of here). She said since I am going to see my internist today (who is also my husband's internist) that I should discuss the possibility of his needing home care or a sitter or day care with the doctor. I am going in for a very bad cold which has settled in my throat and lungs and I am coughing and coughing and wheezing some (I have mild asthma). If they can't see me today I will have to go to urgent care.

It seems that the old saying, "take care of yourself first or you'll not be able to help others" is true and I am taking it to heart today.

Good luck with your search for home care. Having the same doctor should help - they will know you need "respite care" to help in your own recovery.

Get well soon!

You are getting yourself run down and your resistance is suffering. You do need to consider all the options for your husband's care but also need to address how best to take care of you.
I, for one, tend to neglect myself because others need me more. The truth is if I am sick, I cannot be any help to anyone. You need "me" time more that ever. I trust the doctors will help provide some answers. Take care of yourself because you are worth it! emoticon

IT'S SUPRISING HOW TOUGH YOU ARE ONCE YOU GO THRU IT YOU'LL SEE WHAT YOUR MADE OF, THAT'S FOR SURE. I TOLD THE LORD, ENOUGH PLEASE, I'M NOT SO TOUGH.LOL..GOD BLESS YOU..DRU

Pretty, pretty, pretty busy....

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Yesterday it turned out the doctor called in sick so we have to go see her today. Yesterday the weather and driving conditions made me stay home after the dentist visit and so I didn't go to the gym. Hopefully the weather will be a little better today. If I don't make it to the gym I am promising myself to get on the treadmill a minimum of 15 minutes and do stability ball exercises (I still have not tried that ball!!!).

I am still trudging along with The Spark and am near the beginning of part II. I think I will have to figure out a quiet space that is comfortable cause my nice recliner is in the living room and hubby watches the t.v. at a high volume (he is partially deaf) nearly every waking hour. Can't seem to budge him out of his inertia and perhaps I will discuss this with his doctor this afternoon when we see her.

I am still on medical leave from hand surgery on December 29th and finally got a check from Work Comp. (They are usually so prompt and can't live on the last check from work which was $3.18 after paying for insurance, taxes, etc.) So at least I am not completely broke. Now to pay the bills. Need to work on the budget which I promised myself to do (started but didn't finish) back in December.

Sometimes my hubby and I purposely work or do activities in separate rooms to give each other quiet time. This really helps. We know we can't always be in the same room. Good luck.

I know how hard it is to "get going" again after having to "take off" for whatever reason. I'm trying to do that now, too.

Let's go; we can do it.

Thanks Debbie for suggestion of ear plugs, but I love to listen to music so I will try some noise cancelling ear phones. I don't have an Itunes but have a CD player and know how to make copies and have lots of CDs I could listen to.

It seems that the most comfortable chair is always located in the busiest room of the house. I know mine is! I have to get back to the Spark, too, hopefully tonight (after the Biggest Loser, of course). Have a good evening!

The weather here was only a little windy but the roads , people told me were slick. We did not get the snow here that most of MN got. I agree with Debbie, get ear plugs.

Try using earplugs. My DH gets them to use when he has to go into a mill. I convinced him to try them at home to block out my snoring, which used to be much worse than it is now. You can get foam ones in most pharmacies.

Tempted to buy another diet book...

Sunday, January 24, 2010

For now I will stick with The Spark and finish it and use the 28 day program. I finished Chapter 2 and 3 yesterday and got 50 points per chapter added to my points. At this rate, I will easily get 1000 points this month. Just gotta stick with it!!! Silly goals but they are a start.

The Spark has a lot of information and some of it I have heard before or thought of myself. I like the way it is written and it definitely is easily readable and not too wordy for the average person. I am glad the chapters are fairly short so I can easily get through one in an hour or so (without interruptions). I don't want to skim through and forget what I am reading so if I am interrupted I re-read to get back on the train of thought. (chooo--chooo).....

I've been MIA for a while and just returned. I saw the book and bought it immediately. I'm reading it now and like all the others, I'm doing it slow. I can't begin to tell you how many diet books I've bought and then faced a hard decision as to which one to follow. With all the success stories on Sparks, I think it's best to follow "The Spark". Good luck on your journey and may we all become healthier.

I am reading it slowly and thinking about stuff. Best diet book I have ever read. I like the web site also. Something for everybody. Don't feel comfortable with one way, change it out. I am confident that SPARK will evolve with time and get better, especially for the baby boomers. Yeah! emoticon
