One pretty good hand and one pretty good knee....

My thankful list today includes having one pretty good hand and one pretty good knee. (are we grasping at straws here? Yes.....I talk to myself and answer, too.)

I was measured for a brace for the right knee and will get it by next Thursday. That will hopefully make me more steady and reduce any chance of falling and injuring myself, hopefully reduce some of the discomfort, too. (trying to avoid that four-letter word, pain).
I have been using a cane but that is difficult because of the carpal tunnel and trigger thumb symptoms on the hand that has not been operated on yet.

It was nice to use the handicapped parking sticker when I went grocery shopping yesterday. We are way stocked up. There is a company who will deliver (a little pricier) and I will use them when I am not able to drive when I have the second knee surgery. But I used a regular shopping cart to get the few items I needed cause, if you haven't noticed, little old ladies use them like walkers to helphold them up (also got a little exercise that way, too).

Today will be a good day to read The Spark and stay home as the weather has been predicted to be dangerous for driving and walking outdoors because of freezing rain, predicted for 2-3 days.

Will be a good day to work on the to-do list!!!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Keep up the good attitude! You're making progress. I use the grocery cart to lean on, too, while my husband runs up and down the aisles picking out food. We both love to shop.

    You have a great attitude and such a positive outlook. I got a knee brace a few months ago and it is such a help on those bad days. When I wear it I feel more secure and it helps lessen the pain. I hope yours works for you. emoticon

    Teddy, you made me LOL today. One of the motivating reasons for me to finally lose weight was because I found I needed to use shopping carts as walkers to make it throught the store!

My gotta do list needs to be written out. Haven't done that yet. I have started reading the Spark book and I am on chapter 2. I need to set some long range, medium range and short range goals. 2 pages to go and then I will get 25 points for reading this chapter. Hope (no), plan to read at least chapter 3 and 4 today.

Procrastination appears to be one of my ongoing problems. I keep making promises to myself to do things and don't follow through. Perhaps have more definite goals will help. Years ago I was in some counseling and the dr. suggested making a goals list and I don't think I ever "got around to it," but I think it would have been helpful.

Looking back I can see I did a lot of floundering around and wasted a lot of time when I didn't have any specific goals and just lived (or existed) day to day with no clear goals in sight.

I know making goals and following through with "baby steps" will be an improvement over the way I have been approaching problems.

Friday's goals/plans:

1. Go swimming .
2. Read chapter 3 and 4 of The Spark.
3. Bring 4 boxes of items to the thrift store.
4. Sort items stored in bedroom and clear more floor area.
5. Wash 2 loads of clothes.
6. Give myself a spark goodie for each item in this list as I complete it. emoticon

    I like the idea of giving yourself a goodie when you complete an item on your list. Another positive reward that is free and motivates you to get things done. emoticon

Pat, my friend....

Pat is going with me to my 2 dr appts today. I told her I need some "companionship," and it's not a gay thing. Just need to have some "support" and friendship.

I am getting my bridge placed at dentist today (getting 2 front teeth). And I am getting a brace made for my right knee.

I told her we would go out for lunch (I might be eating soft food, but didn't tell her that).

In the afternoon we will hang out at my house and then go for the brace appt about 4:00.

Then I think we will have dinner at my house. She thought maybe it was too much to do in one day but I don't. I have never been one who "does only 1 thing per day," and never will. I won't slow down until I am forced to.

Onward and upward..... emoticon emoticon

    It's 2:00 and I am on schedule. I even have time to veg in my chair awhile. Such a good day so far and we will go out for dinner (take hubby along) and then I will take her home. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I haven't heard the term "scatter brained" lately. But that's how I feel when I have too many things going on at once. I won't bore you with my laundry list of "things to worry about" or "my to-do list." Needles to say a bit of meditation is in order and perhaps some journaling would be a good idea to sort things out. emoticon emoticon

  Some great ideas precede my post. I don't have anything "better" to add ~ just hope you get unscattered soon.

When I'm that way, I call it "frazzled" Usually happens late spring. I slow down, focus on "now" and what I'm doing. Leaving everything else "out of the picture" helps me. I'm not a multi-tasker at all.

    I live by my lists. I feel I have gotten things accomplished when I can cross them off my list. Try not to spend to much time "worrying" it wont change a thing and is only a joyrobber! emoticon emoticon

    I find that when I feel this way I'm actually trying to cover up fear. We don't want to look at it and so scatter our attention. Find out what is scaring you and deal with it head on.

    I have also been scatter-brained lately. My problem is that my lists are in my head, not on paper. I have to spend part of today getting these things down so I don't forget what I need to do, especially at work!

Swam in therapy pool at 6:30 a.m. feel great

I managed to get myself out of the house by 6:00 a.m. to go to the therapy pool. I was in only about 20 minutes but feel so much looser and relaxed and less achey.

I plan to go 2 more times this week.

Now I have to go finish my breakfast.... Swimming always makes me hungry. emoticon
