Pat, my friend....

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Pat is going with me to my 2 dr appts today. I told her I need some "companionship," and it's not a gay thing. Just need to have some "support" and friendship.

I am getting my bridge placed at dentist today (getting 2 front teeth). And I am getting a brace made for my right knee.

I told her we would go out for lunch (I might be eating soft food, but didn't tell her that).

In the afternoon we will hang out at my house and then go for the brace appt about 4:00.

Then I think we will have dinner at my house. She thought maybe it was too much to do in one day but I don't. I have never been one who "does only 1 thing per day," and never will. I won't slow down until I am forced to.

Onward and upward..... emoticon emoticon

Scattered...

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

I haven't heard the term "scatter brained" lately. But that's how I feel when I have too many things going on at once. I won't bore you with my laundry list of "things to worry about" or "my to-do list." Needles to say a bit of meditation is in order and perhaps some journaling would be a good idea to sort things out. emoticon emoticon

Some great ideas precede my post. I don't have anything "better" to add ~ just hope you get unscattered soon.

When I'm that way, I call it "frazzled" Usually happens late spring. I slow down, focus on "now" and what I'm doing. Leaving everything else "out of the picture" helps me. I'm not a multi-tasker at all.

    Repeat after me:

FAITH NOT FRET

I too am a worrier and usually over things completely out of my control.

Try and let it go and focus on what you do have control over - YOU!

Good luck!

when I feel that way I make a few lists...it declutters my brain. It really helps organize things for me and then gives me a plan.

I live by my lists. I feel I have gotten things accomplished when I can cross them off my list. Try not to spend to much time "worrying" it wont change a thing and is only a joyrobber! emoticon emoticon

Don't feel bad. I've had what many call a blond day emoticon

I know it is hard. Just try and take a deep breath, put a "Smile "on that lovely face, and relax, because we just don't know what is next, So, we need all the healthy inspiration we can muscle up sometimes

Please have a wonderful day and have some fun emoticon

I find that when I feel this way I'm actually trying to cover up fear. We don't want to look at it and so scatter our attention. Find out what is scaring you and deal with it head on.

Take a deep breath (or several) and relax. Things will sort themselves out in time.

I have also been scatter-brained lately. My problem is that my lists are in my head, not on paper. I have to spend part of today getting these things down so I don't forget what I need to do, especially at work!

Swam in therapy pool at 6:30 a.m. feel great

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

I managed to get myself out of the house by 6:00 a.m. to go to the therapy pool. I was in only about 20 minutes but feel so much looser and relaxed and less achey.

I plan to go 2 more times this week.

Now I have to go finish my breakfast.... Swimming always makes me hungry. emoticon

It's not easy to get up that early, but the payoff is worth it.
Three times a week sounds like a great goal.

What a great PA my knee surgeon has!!!!

Monday, January 18, 2010

She gave me an injection of Synvisc-1 (new, 1-injection treatment) to help tide me over until I can do the knee replacement some time early summer. I also am getting a custom made knee support to take "the load off" the joint (a hinged knee brace) and I also got a temporary handicapped parking permit that is good until my birthday (May 31st). I am so happy they have accommodated all my wishes and now we will see how being nonweight bearing for exercises is going to work. She said I could use recumbent bike and water aerobics. She suggested elliptical machine but I have not done well with that machine and will wait to see if I can do it in about a month or so. I am taking it easy this afternoon after the injection and plan to not overdo. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I don't think the elliptical is the easiest on the knees. Go with your gut as to what you feel safe with. Glad they were able to help you.

water aerobics are fun you should really try that, no knee impact!

CARRAND 1/18/2010 5:40PM

Water aerobics always looked like fun to me. I love the water and used to swim at the county recreation center fairly often. I usually just treadmill now because I have one at home and it's quicker. I was laid up for 3 months with the broken ankle, but I'm back to walking on the treadmill. I'm not as fast as I was, but I'm picking up speed. I hope your recovery goes as smoothly as mine. A good doctor makes all the difference.

Having knee looked at in about 1 hour....

Monday, January 18, 2010

I am trying to be hopeful that the knee isn't completely worn out and even if it is am hopeful I can live with it this way until I can have time off work to fix it, and the doctor has a short term solution to the discomfort (hate to call it pain, but it is).

Better get ready and leave soon so I am not late for the appointment I was so lucky to get so quickly. Will update when I get back. emoticon
