OMG

Thursday, December 31, 2009

Working on bills and 2010 budget which seems a disaster. Makes me want to run away from home (which, of course, is not an option). Need to say little prayers throughout the day for strength. Oh, Lordy, Lordy, Lordy.... emoticon emoticon emoticon

You are smart to face it straight on! Come up with a plan to do the best you can with what you have. You'll be way ahead of those people who just let it happen.

Take care of yourself. Be your own best friend. Be grateful for the things you do have. Do the best you can in a tough situation and love yourself for it!

Yep, I think the others have indicated you are NOT alone. Just take it a day at a time. It's about all we can do.

I try to take things one day at a time. Make plans but can't always plan the outcomes. I have been working on our finances for some time--it is better than it was and I am hopeful that it will continue to get better. Budgeting is much like healthy lifestyle choices for me. Hope you have a blessed New Year!

I am with you Teddy. I did a quick run on our taxes and we owe lots of money! Due to various vehicle issues, our January budget is short and we haven't even started yet. But I am sure that one way or another we will work it out and so will you!

2 day respite almost over...

Thursday, December 31, 2009

I am going home today. Had a nice 2 day mini-vacation with a girlfriend. Look forward to having some private, alone time. I am not a hermit at heart but there are times I would like to be able to watch t.v. or talk on the phone without another person around. My car is a great getaway...then there is the gym where most people are into themselves....I love the whirlpool and steam room....can't wait to go...probably on Friday.... emoticon emoticon emoticon

getting rested up...feeling very well.

Wednesday, December 30, 2009

No swelling and very little pain. Carpal tunnel release and trigger thumb release much easier than CPC joint replacement surgery when bones were cut. This time only soft tissues were cut and will be able to shower 3 days after surgery....Stitches out in about 10 days...Anxious to get back to the gym. Resting a lot...feeling good.... emoticon

N.P.O. from midnight.....

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

Am I thirsty? Arghhhhhh.... Nothing per mouth from midnight even though it is just local anesthesia for my hand surgery. Today the surgery is scheduled for 10:15 (are they ever on time?)...I am having carpal tunnel release and trigger thumb release on the right hand. As normal, or as usual, I am a bit anxious. I am leaving the house in an hour and haven't packed my bag yet.

I am picking up my girlfriend to go with me and then calling a cab since I won't be allowed to drive for 24 hours. Leaving hubby home (he is a bit upset about this, but we will stay in touch and have people to check in on him while I am gone). I will be gone 2 nights and hope to get lots of rest.

Hope the weather is good when I drive back home as I will be able to use only one hand for that. Will leave my car in the ramp if I am unable to drive safely and take a cab home.

My sister just had this same surgery two days before Christmas and seems to be recovering quite nicely. This is the second time she has had it done.

Cat Fires or Cats and Candles Don't Mix

Monday, December 28, 2009

We have had 2 "cat fires." The first happened when I worked at home and my supervisor called to discuss something and suddenly I said, "Oh, no, the cat's on fire!" and then hung up the phone. It is one of the favorite stories in the department of the adventures of Teddy working at home. The cat's tail caught on fire and there were flames shooting up behind her and I put the fire out with my bare hands. No one was injured but the cat's tail was pretty wierd looking until it grew out and there was the smell of burned hair in the house for a couple of days. The cat was never aware she was on fire so I guess she didn't get hurt.

The other one was our other cat who jumped from his perch onto a table where a candle was burning. It singed his fur on his side.

I have heard some of these cat fires are the cause of houses burning down.

Since we had our two incidents of cats not mixing with candles we don't use candles any more.

There are battery operated candles that are scented and run on batteries. Poor kitty would have a hard time starting a fire with one of those LOL!

Little lessons often carry the biggest message. Glad this one turned out with a happy ending even if it was a little scorched.

I thought my old cat was the only one dumb enough to sit on a lit candle. I guess they don't fear or feel the flame or something. Anyway, I DO know that smell of singed cat fur very well.

I bought one of those Scent Buggs from Bath & Body Works. It uses scented oil and runs on batteries. No worries about the kitties catching on fire now.

Makes sense to me. I lit some in the bathroom then decided to take a shower, with out thinking a laid my towlel and clothes down and jumped in the shower, a few minutes later I though I smelled something and sure enough the towel and my t shirt was i a blaze, thew them in the sink to put them out, needless to say no more candles in the bathroom for me

Wow, lucky for you - and them - that you were there to put out the fires. I never leave a candle burning when I'm not in the room. Mine are much to rascally to leave anything alone. Thanks for this reminder.

RASCALOO 12/28/2009 8:18AM

This is the reason I use a candle warmer instead. A candle warmer is like an electric mug warmer that you might use at your desk to keep your coffee mug drinkig temp. It is just warm enough to melt the wax (no flames) and let the scent of the candles waft through the air.

In the 5 years I've had it, there was one incident where R2 knocked it over and got hot wax on the counter, but no one was injured and the wax peeled right back off once it hardened.

Glad to hear both your kitties were ok!

I love candles too, but my cat loves to jump on all surfaces she can find, so now I use those little electric candles that pretend to flicker... not bac, actually.

We also have power outages every year, and I use oil lamps to keep myself from freaking out... I found some on the internet that mount on the wall, so I have a couple mounted on each wall like sconces, and the cat doesn't even know they exist. Working out well, so far!!

What a shame - I love candles! Still, can't risk possible injury to the cats or your home.
