Made goal of exercise 3 times this week.

Love to swim. Tried to download picture of me before snorkeling in the Caribbean last year, but have to resize it. Want to go back but want to get back to 175 before I do. My goal is swimming 1/2 hour and walking 1 hour (3 miles) three times per week. I actually got to the gym three times but didn't quite make it 9 miles because of blisters. But will definitely do it next week.

My goal was to walk 3 miles three times a week, but today I got another blister (this one on my little toe). I did walk 1-1/2 miles in half hour and swam for1/2 hour. With the blister, I decided I could not tolerate any more pain. I was wearing the same shoes as I did on Tuesday but the wrong socks apparently. I did swim (slowly) for half an hour and whirpooled a while to wind down and massage my back and neck. Eventually I will figure out which socks and shoes to wear so I won't get any more blisters. Hope everyone is having a great evening. emoticon

After exercizing 2 hours at the gym yesterday I took today off since I am stiff and sore but not debilitated andnot thinking of taking my cane out of the closet and using it. (Thank goodness.) Will drink lots of water today and go to bed by 10:00 and get 7 hours of sleep (unlike last night when I was up until midnight and up again at 5:00 a.m.). Planning to work out 2 hours tomorrow and then take Friday off. Feeling great and kept my sodium intake under 900 today.

Fantastic Tuesday for exercise...120 minutes

I can't believe I did it. I did the treadmill a whole hour and walked 3 miles and made no excuses. Yesterday I felt bad cause I got a blister from the wrong shoes and socks and lasted only 10 minutes on the treadmill and then did not swim afterwards. But today, after the treadmill I tried my first water aerobics class and, of course, was a little confused about how to do some of the exercises and my knees got sore and got cramps in my calves, but overall I think I did more than 50% of the exercises. I plan to walk tomorrow outside if the weather cooperates. I can go around Lake Harriet which is about 2-3/4 miles around and it is a nice place to walk.

In addition I planned my food consumption and actually took in only 1300 calories and all healthy things. No ice cream. I ate half a whole wheat pita with Bettern' Peanut butter on it. After the heavy duty exerising I was ravenous and the stir fried chicken breast with salad tasted so much better. I think it was partly because I was so darn hungry. Not just hungry, but extremely hungry. I stir fried the chicken cause I knew if I waited to cook it a slower way I probably would have snacked on something not so healthy and not so high in protein. I finally have a lot of foods in my favorites (for tracking nutrition) and so keeping the food diary on line is getting easier. I really struggled with that in the beginning but now I think it is easier than keeping handwritten notes. emoticon

P.S. I actually broke a sweat on the treadmill.

Successful week for exercising...

It did not turn out as I had planned, but I did get to the health club (gym) three times this week. I went on Monday to swim, Thursday and walked on treadmill for 45 minutes and today, Saturday I treadmilled for 45 minutes AND swam for 30 minutes, for a grand total of 150 minutes of exercising. I know I can go to the gym regularly at least three times a week. I will leave my goal at that for now and see if I can do it for 3 weeks or so before trying to increase it. I also did not eat any ice cream yesterday or today. After work, the McDonald's in the hospital (????!!!!) where I work has 50 cent cones, so it talkes a lot of willpower to keep on walking instead of turning into that place and indulging one of my biggest diet temptations. On Friday, I had an apple left over from lunch to eat on my way home. I will definitely carry healthy snacks and stay out of McDonalds this week.

    Good job on going to the gym and resisting the ice cream! You know, when my husband was getting chemo at Piper I used to have that particular McDonalds as a temptation to kill time, but I wasn't so good about it as you have been! Way to go!
