Don't wish your life away....

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

I would have rather been home today...still on a soft diet, but feel pretty good with some minor pain. Going to bed early and will do the treamill 20 minutes before work, for sure...that is a promise to myself....I swam for 40 minutes before work this morning and that helped loosen up the knee...

I think walking 20 minutes on the treadmill in the morning will be a good thing to do...but I am pretty achey and tired now and it's only 6:00 p.m. I should probably get up in the middle of the night and do the treadmill, but we will see if I am ambitious enough to do that...(it might actually help with the stiffness I have in the knee)...

Looking forward to the coming weekend and it's only Tuesday today... oh, well. I get a 4-day work week this week and it will be nice when Friday is here.

Reminds me of when I worked in a school kitchen and an older lady kept telling us younger ones, not to "wish our lives away" by wishing it was Friday....

PLEASE be careful on the treadmill! I had a terrible accident on one about three years ago when I slipped (OK, I was taking off my sweatshirt because I got hot and didn't have the turn off key on my wrist) and fell and had a scrape down to the bone on my shin. I couldn't get off the machine because of the way it was positioned and if the girl next to me hadn't stopped the machine, I'd have been hurt even worse.

I was in great shape right then and (obviously) a little cocky. You should see the scar! So please plug in the automatic shut off thing!

emoticon I prefer bikes and swimming!

And yes: Friday will be here soon enough!

Dentist visit went well...will be back to work tomorrow

Monday, September 28, 2009

I got a nice temporary bridge so I won't be toothless....will get the real bridge in January and the total cost came down because of waiting until then...so the total out of pocket is "only" $1800 but without insurance would have been about $4000 so I guess the insurance company lost money on me again this year and next year.... emoticon

That's what you have insurance for! I'm sure they make it up somewhere else! Glad you could get this taken care of and soon you'll be smiling with a new pair of pearly whites!

Just think, if the Insurance Companies weren't around to get so much of this $$, the cost would have been $800 or less. Truly! It's a vicious circle and we are the ones in the center, surrounded by all the profiteers.

Time to wake up

Monday, September 28, 2009

I just had my "light breakfast" as ordered by the dentist....had my coffee, for sure!!!! Will drink a good 2 liters of water to hydrate myself as I know I always feel really rotten when I get dehydrated....

I have half an hour before taking 2 grams (2,000 mg of Ampicillin). Then it will be off to see the dentist to have "my two front teeth" pulled. (Actually one big one and one smaller next to it.) But I do laugh a little (very little) when I think of the song, "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth."

I plan to bring a soft pillow for my head and an extra neck pillow as my dentist's chair is so uncomfortable and plus I am having neck and shoulder spasms ever since Friday evening. (I hope that is nothing but nerves.)

Will blog later after I take a nap as I am sure to want one after this morning's excitement (or more negatively, ordeal.) I just need to remind myself this is nothing compared to some of the things I have gone through in the past, like the gum surgeries I had 40 years ago with stitches in my mouth, having impacted wisdom teeth removed in the hospital, etc. etc... and that's just some of the DENTAL nightmares....

This is less traumatic, by far, than going through a divorce and being a single mother with two teenagers....

Less a big deal than going through pancreas biopsy and worrying about cancer....

Less a big deal than many things that I have survived... so I am sure this will be a minor thing with no complications and I will feel back to my normal in a couple days, for sure....

It sounds like you have thought of everything to help you have a "good" experience at the dentist. You've certainly got a good attitude. Rest as much as you need to afterward... emoticon Good luck...Sharon

You will do fine, Teddy. You are one tough lady!! Just take it easy the rest of the day.
How long will it be before you can get some replacement teeth...hopefully before Christmas. emoticon

The good thing about having 2 teeth pulled.

Sunday, September 27, 2009

I probably will be on a liquid diet for a few days afterwards, so I might lose a few pounds...so it's not ALL bad...

Are we grasping at straws here? emoticon

I found out I am not allowed to use straws for a week as I might pull out the clot and get a dry socket...which I have had before and definitely don't want again...

That's a bright side to look at and here I was thinking she's lost a couple of grams of weight!

I have knee and wrist issues, too. I'll be keeping an eye on how you're doing. I'm about to join the club so I can swim--as soon as biking season really ends in a blizzard!

You might need a straw to drink with. LOL. Such a positive way to look at the situation. -- Lou

knee is stiff but walking good...

Sunday, September 27, 2009

I don't plan to overdo, but will walk on treadmill twice today X20 minutes. I am anticipating the teeth extrations tomorrow and am hoping for the best and remember my last extraction about 40 years ago when I had an abscessed tooth and got a dry socket...it was not fun and I recall not being able to sleep for nearly a week because of the pain. I called the dentist in tears and he ordered pain killers so I could rest....

I think nowadays they don't wait for people to get into dire straits before prescribing if they need it....

Hopefully since this is not an abscess (I don't think it is) I will do well and be back to work the next day....

Good for you, twice on the treadmill!

And sparkin' through a straw is still sparkin', right?

May it be easier for you this time around.
