knee is stiff but walking good...

Sunday, September 27, 2009

I don't plan to overdo, but will walk on treadmill twice today X20 minutes. I am anticipating the teeth extrations tomorrow and am hoping for the best and remember my last extraction about 40 years ago when I had an abscessed tooth and got a dry socket...it was not fun and I recall not being able to sleep for nearly a week because of the pain. I called the dentist in tears and he ordered pain killers so I could rest....

I think nowadays they don't wait for people to get into dire straits before prescribing if they need it....

Hopefully since this is not an abscess (I don't think it is) I will do well and be back to work the next day....

Good for you, twice on the treadmill!

And sparkin' through a straw is still sparkin', right?

May it be easier for you this time around.

no knee infection, please....

Saturday, September 26, 2009

My knee surgeon is concerned the gum infection will spread to my knee and I need to keep a close watch after I am off antibiotics from the teeth extractions on Monday. He said I may have to get blood cultures and culture of fluid in the knee. Hopefully, that will not happen but since he said to watch for stiffness I think my stiffness is worse and I am hoping it is just my imagination. I have been more tired and weak feeling and have had some dizziness......I couldn't sleep very well last night due to knee pain and tooth pain....I am trying to stay positive, which is so easy to say and hard to do....Need a little encouragement and not just sympathy...thanks..... emoticon

Please get your knee checked out, if you have a infection somewhere else they usually cancel a operation. The doctor is just doing his job, so don't hesitate getting it seen to...

2 teeth coming out on Monday

Friday, September 25, 2009

I have to have 2 teeth (in the front) pulled on this coming Monday. I will eventually have a bridge and the cost of that is overwhelming. Thank goodness I will be able to have a temporary until January and then the bridge done then to get the most benefits from my dental insurance, but still it will cost about $4000 out of pocket....I guess if I was unemployed and had no retirement money saved up I would be hugely gap toothed in the front...not a pretty picture. I am trying to count my blessings and remember I nearly lost thes 2 teeth about 40 years ago when I was in my early 20s. The moral of this story...floss the teeth you want to keep.... emoticon

Oh I feel so sorry for you. It is bad enough having to have your two front teeth pulled and then no insurance. We have no dental ins either and I just keep holding my breath that nothing serious like that happens to me. My DH already has false teeth LOL...take care and be strong...Merri

Okay, what next...tooth to be extracted

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

I don't need this...I have an infected tooth that defied treatment and now it has to be pulled. Need a crown and even with insurance it will be a lot of money...guess my retirement account is going to pay for that. I am grateful I have some money there to use for this. At least I won't have to be toothless in the front.... emoticon

I'm glad you don't have to go toothless too and everything heals without complications.

Doing a blog in eve for a change...

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

I usually blog early in the a.m. but today I was up at 4:30 and out of the house by 5:30 to go swim before work. I was in the therapeutic pool a full 45 minutes and swam and did leg exercises by the edge of the pool. The water is 92 degrees and I feel so lucky this pool is located where I work. It is at the famous (has anyone outside of MN heard of it?) Sister Kenny Institute. I feel so good during and after each swim there. I have been going regularly for 6 weeks and go twice a week before work which means on the night before I have to be in bed early so I am not tempted to turn off the alarm and go back to sleep when it goes off at 4:30. I really love swimming and my arthritis loves the warm water. It is so nice and is one of the best perks of my job. We also have a gym located in the same building that is open 24/7 and the membership comes out of my paycheck and is only $12 every 2 weeks and includes the use of the pool (though the pool hours are limited because the hospital uses the pool for patients).

I am busy counting my blessings today instead of complaining. emoticon

I've heard of the Sister Kenny Institue but I am in South Dakota so that is not so unusual. Awesome that you have access to an indoor pool. The closest pool for me is 35 miles away-shucks! Enjoy the warm water and swim a little for me!
