Smoothie #5...pinkish but not sweet...

Today's smoothie is not as sweet cause I decided to have my banana and blueberries on top of my corn chex.

Smoothie had 4 plum tomatoes, 6 mini peppers (red and orange), 1 tangerine, 1 scoop of egg white powder and 2 tbs of ground flax seed, 2 pkts of stevia (how could it not be sweet?)....

It did not taste as good as my earlier smoothies so next time will put in more fruit.

Today I plan to finish up doing my medical reimbursements for last year (the deadline is March 31st)... so it will be nice to get a check to tide me over for awhile. Have to look into dental coverage for my retirement. emoticon

Smoothie #4...an orange one instead of green

Today's smoothie has carrots, banana, red and orange sweet peppers, stevia and water. When I realized I had forgotten my protein powder (egg white or soy) it was too late as I did not want to be late for work 3 days in a row....(I was on time today)...

I did have hummus and tabouli with cucumber on whole wheat pita bread, so will have to get some extra protein in for dinner tonight. I have thawed out ground turkey to have a turkey burger.

I have officially lost (according to the gym's scale) about 2.5 lbs. I like to weigh myself in the morning before I eat and am probably a bit dehydrated so I showed a larger loss but am happy with the general downward direction of my weight.

Smoothie #3 Holding weight loss....

Today I used 2 baby bok choy, 5 strawberries, 1/2 frozen banana chunks, 1 cup papaya, 1 scoop powdered egg white, 4 tbs ground flax seed, and 2 cups of water (and 1 pkt stevia). It tastes pretty darn good. Drinking half for breakfast with a cup of coffee and half is saved for lunch since it made a whole blender full again.

Problems with new coffee maker this morning. I think the ground Vietnamese coffee floated into the water chamber and clogged everything up. (Note to self: do not used Vietnamese coffee with regular coffee maker.

I was late for work yesterday so today I am leaving at 6:30 to be sure I am not late 2 days in a row. So have to say goodbye for now. Everybody have a nice Valentine's Day.

I made one yesteday with Cos lettuce, Celery,Spinach, Protein Pwd, Parsley, and yoghurt .. tasted really nice .. Hugs

1 lb + 3 lb = 4 lb loss in 8 days...yeah!!!

I thnik all the veggies I drank yesterday morning helped with additional weight loss. I was a bit discouraged with only a 1 lb weight loss in 7 days but 4 lb in 8 days is soooo much better. We were told to weigh only once a week but I need to know daily how I am doing. I realize water deprivation versus sodium retention can affect the numbers on the scale but I am still pleased to see a nice drop in 8 days.

Today I had another interesting smoothie: Cooked collards, raw chinese broccoli, celery (was a bit stringy), frozen banana, fresh strawberries, stevia sweetened coconut syrup, 1 pkt of stevia, lots of water. I used a jumbo straw to drink this (they are available at the Asian grocery store). I am not sure but I think I also added a scoop of egg white powder for another 22 grams of protein.

I also made a small omelet with 1 fresh egg, 1 scoop of egg white powder and 2 ounces of low fat ham with .25 cup of salsa.

About 600 calories but since I got up fairly late this is like a brunch for me. Will have a small unch and will be able to eat a somewhat normal sized dinner.

Hey!!! It's better than gaining or staying the same...I had a different breakfast this morning. I made a smoothie with Napa cabbage, sweet red and yellow peppers, papaya, apple, soy protein powder, flaxseed (ground), low fat plain yogurt and water. I checked my breakfast on the nutrition page and it is 50% carbs, low fat and high protein. I am pleased as this was very satisfying and I was inspired by Dr. Oz who had a guest who sells high speed blenders to make these (which was not mentioned on Dr. Oz's show)...but it made me think about how easy it would be to make breakfast in the blender (mine is a pretty good one but my drink was a little lumpy but palatable. I think next time I will put in more water.

I had a recipe for a smoothie made with raw collards but it sounded hard to swallow unless I had a super high speed machine like that person I can't remember the name of.(.Googled it was Montel Williams)....so I steamed a serving in my bamboo steamer on top of a pot of water and I think it will mush down in the blender now. Collards are a really healthy green and as I recall they are easy to grow. I might grow some this summer. They are one of those greens that you cut off and they keep producing until AFTER the first frost.

My surgeon who is going to do the herniorrhaphy in March suggested I take stool softeners to keep from straining but I think eating lots of veggies would be better. So we will see if this helps. My surgery is scheduled for March 2nd. I have only 3 weeks. I am glad it is scheduled as I am now having discomfort in the middle area (epigastric) where the hernia is. It is large enough that it will be an open procedure with mesh.

I plan to go for food allergy testing the same day as my preop exam and take that day off work since I cannot eat for 12 hours before the blood test for allergies. Will blog about my results and hopefully I won't be allergic to a lot of the top 25 food allergens.

    Your smoothies sound interesting and tasty. I would think the
extra fiber will be just as beneficial as stool softeners so see
what happens. Congrats on the 1 pound loss. It is a step in the
