I went to work but left after about 4 hours....

Monday, May 23, 2011

I needed to stay off work a little longer. I did still have dizziness, headache and extremely sore throat. I also had to talk on the phone with HR people and voice was quite hesitant. I was a bit concerned by the garbled talk on my video from yesterday and need to ask my doctor about that. I went home and slept from about 2:00 until 5:00 but still feel unrested. Time for some pills and am going to drink some water and perhaps some warm tea. People at work were concerned about my driving home but I did not have a problem. I think tomorrow will be my last day home and will need a return to work slip from my doctor for Wednesday. emoticon

I waited awhile for migraine medication to work, but I think the headache is more like a sinus headache.

I was hoping I would feel "all better" after my 3 hour nap but I think I need another 12 hours of sleep to fix me. After a light supper, I will return to bed and get some more rest. Tomorrow I will see how I feel and will call my doctor if I think Wednesday will be a good day to return to work.

Labrynthitis? If so, the dizziness can come and go for a while. Rest, and don't push it with the driving!

And another thing(s)....

Sunday, May 22, 2011

When it rains it pours....

I had my doctor fill out the papers for the short term leave due to my inner ear problem and possible sinus infection with vertigo. I am now able to drive but lost my voice on Wednesday morning. It is impossible to do business on the phone and it seems that my doctor (a dear blond gal, I might mention) has incorrectly filled out the form which means in order to get it straightened out (get her to re-do it) I will have to take half a day off work in order to get her to fill out a new form. I thought I would be able to return to work on Monday (when the Z-pack is finished) but am not feeling very well yet. I do have an email address for the HR people and hope they will answer me when I inquire if the form was filled out correctly or not.....(Dr. checked that it was NOT a serious condition, but then did check "needed hospitalization," "required prescription medications", etc. ) I think she thought it was not serious cause I am able to walk around, my heart and lungs sounded fine.

Another item requiring a phone call is asking my home insurance WTF happened to my new reduced premium that was instated 2 weeks ago? I now got a bill for the new due date in July with the same old higher premium I have been paying all along? I might have to ask someone to make this phone call for me as I am very frustrated about this situation (this is a $300 difference in premium).....

And another thing....I want my voice back. There are so many things we need our voice for, like talking on the phone.

And one more thing....I have had eye problems this year and take medication for the muscles of the eyes which works great, but one of the possible side effects of the meclizine (Antivert) given for the vertigo is blurry vision.....Today I am taking about 13 prescription medications and by Tuesday I should be back to my usual 10. Oh, JOY!!!!

End of rant.... emoticon

Keep ranting! That's what we're here for!

I think right now you're experiencing the "if it's not one thing, it's another" phenomenon. I think you're due for some plain ol' uneventful days real soon!

Another voiceless day....

Saturday, May 21, 2011

WHEN i GO TO THE store they assume I am not only mute but deaf, also.... I thought it might be amusing to do a video blog since I do have a camerca and microphone for Skypnig. I might have to read the directions....but will have to find a decent pair of glasses first.... emoticon

yes do! please do the video! It will be priceless watching well meaning people make fools of themselves.
I would love to see people shouting at someone whom they think is deaf.
Like turning on extra lights for the blind guy..

I can make a few gutteral noises, including the word

Friday, May 20, 2011

Unable to say words well enough to be understood so plan to continue to rest my voice today....it is strange...my husband who is partially deaf is angry with me for not talking and using sign language (he got really upset when I wanted him to move out of my way and I nudged him)........He said I was mean....oh, well....

At that point I was trying to get to my room to see my favorite t.v. show and didn't want to be late and didn't have a paper and pen to write down "gangway!!!"

Anyhow, I am glad to be home another day and by Monday I hope to be back to work.

I have lost my voice before (last time I remember was about 20 years ago). At that time it lasted about 10 days. I have had some bouts that have lasted 2 weeks, so I am not expecting my voice to return anytime soon.

My cat has just jumped up on me, meowing, talking to me and seems disappointed that I am not talking back... emoticon

Hope you don't have to go voiceless for two weeks. Write a bunch of common messages on yellow sticky notes and post them all over the house. Next time you need to communicate you can point to an appropriate one. I think "Gangway, gotta pee" should about cover it. You don't need to mention the TV.

My command of sign language is minimal but it was enough to communicate with our oldest
son who is almost totally deaf. DD2 works for the School for the Deaf and can sign quite
fluently. But you have to learn it and use it for it to make sense. Just take care so when
your voice comes back, you can use it. HUGS!

I always tell the kids to retrace their steps when they have lost something.
oh did you expect me to be serious?
ok -- make up a couple of signs in advance including some funny ones like "quit farting" and keep them handy.
I tried to learn sign language for a deaf customer once -- when he was done laughing he showed me my name his name and the colors blue green and yellow (I work on blue print machined and these are phases of development) the told me to write if we need more information.
I did have a sign that said "quit farting" and a few were returned that are not fit for spark people..
good luck!

You are sooooo funny. You have the best way of getting right to the point, and I love that! Glad that you're home and hope that you can just hang in and retreat from the outside world and appointments for the next couple of days.
