WW food tracking is easy to use, but

Sunday, April 24, 2011

I can't seem to get the size of the printing large enough to read easily..(will have to invest in a magnifying glass)...also will try contacting customer service as they may have a suggestion....

I actually lost some weight since yesterday morning...and plan to faithfully track my food on both SP and WW to see how the calories and points, nutrition compare.

Yesterday was a good day as I seemed to chose a lot of my favorite foods which on WW are 0-point foods (apples, asparagus, green beans).... I do like my veggies and fruits a lot.... I told the person at WW that it sounds like "the gorilla diet" (which I heard about on Oprah) and got a truly blank stare from her.... LOL emoticon

Decided to join Weight Watchers and did it today!!!

Saturday, April 23, 2011

I joined by phone and hurried to my first meeting....It is not quite what I expected but hope to meet some of the other members and find a meeting group that works well with my schedule. Today I tried the 11:00 a.m. Saturday meeting. Next week I plan to go much earlier and see a different group of people.

I decided I need to do a weekly weigh-in and hear some motivational talks to keep me inspired. The talk today was regarding "tracking your food." I do like the online tracking on Spark People but so far (after only 1 day) I think the WW tracking is a bit easier to do. It is a little wierd figuring out WW points instead of calories but I think since I have not lost and only gained weight in the past 3 years that it was time to try something different in order to get different results (namely losing the weight, especially those 50 lbs I had lost and regained). I really have so much incentive: Preserving my 2 knee replacements as long as possible, helping my circulation and making walking easier, being able to walk up and down stairs without being winded and having pain in legs and back, and just generally being healthier which I know will happen even before I get to my ultimate goal weight. I will not abandon SparkPeople as there are so many good things here, including some Weight Watcher groups...and will choose one to join.... emoticon

I know that several of those I have corresponded with on spark are WW members. Good job on being proactive and doing something different to get different results!

Glad that you are keeping with SP but also know that you have to do what is necessary and what works for you. Best of luck to you with WW. Keep us posted on how things are going, my friend.

So glad you are continuing with SP and trying a new way to get healthier. I think both
programs can work together. HUGS!

Congrats on deciding to make a life change!! That is awesome!!!

I am a big fan of WW, so I'll tell you this. Don't be afraid to change meetings. FIND a meeting that works for you and motivates you! Topics are all the same but the leaders are so so vastly different with their personal advise that some of it really drives the point home.

Same here.. want so bad to be able to track with spark, but in all this time find its much easier to track my food the WW way. However, spark does have an excellent way to track exercise, so that's a good thing!

If you have any questions about WW, feel free to shoot me an email. I'll be happy to answer anything I can. :)

I am totally pooped and still have to work 8 hours before the weekend starts....

Starting the day with a headache and neckache...Perhaps a cold pack will help and , of course, my cuppa joe....where is that? Just ate my oatmeal and the coffee is done brewing...

Hope everyone has a great Friday followed by a nice weekend.... emoticon

Mortgage salesmen....definitely high pressure salesmen...

Thursday, April 21, 2011

I spent an hour last night and an hour the night before talking to a fast-talking high pressure mortgage broker. Wow...talk about stressin'...I need to take a break from that and just think about my options for awhile...The numbers MAY lie, especially when I haven't decided if I even want to stay in this house another 5 years. Talking about a 20, 25 and 30 year mortgage at my age seems preposterous....Will I even be alive in 20 years? And if I am where would I get the money to pay the mortgage?

My thoughts are definitely drifting towards getting an appraisal and selling before interest goes up again.

Why, oh why did I fill out that online inquiry? Could it be I am a stress junkie?

go to zillow.com and enter your address it will give you the expected value of your property along with recent comparable sales in the area. it will be within a few percent of the value of an appraiser.
I was married to one of those mortgage broker loan originators for 19 years and let her handle the finances. now I am getting beat to death with that decision trying to unscrew things.
bill60 is right remember too you don't have to refinance the entire value of your house just the debt and keep some of the equity.
do your own research I had to get a lawyer to keep my dumb posterior from making things worse.

Why get an appraisal and have to shell out $400 +/-? Get a real estate agent to do a market evaluation, for free. Can you afford your current payment? If so, leave it alone. If you're tight on $$, look at the numbers for a 15, 20, 30 yr mortgages and see it the payment is more to your liking. Good luck!!

Pep talk? Need one...Baby steps...remember "What about Bob?"

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

I am determined to get my weight down....

I need to focus on those baby steps and doing those little things that add up to big changes.....

1. Drinking 8 cups of water a day... (and tracking them)
2. Watching portion control (and tracking my intake)
3. Exercising every day..even when I don't go to the gym.
4. Stress reduction including deep breathing exercises and looking for clues on Spark people.

enough steps...don't want to track every step or I will get stressed out....

I just went to a management seminar yesterday and one of the things that stuck with me is that any list with more than 3 steps will become overwhelming. Take it slow and it WILL add up.
