Walked about 1.25 miles round trip to clinic yesterday....

I don't think I could have made the trip without my walker as my CPAP machine with humidifier is probably over 10 lb and my purse is another 6. My back has been sore and I have noticed walking very far (over a block) makes my back hurt.

So today I have to go to the hospital again (luckily the whole walk is through a skyway system from the building where I work to the hospital.

I read an interesting "factoid" about Minneapolis....we have the largest pedestrian skyway system in the country (or is it the world) connecting the skyscrapers in our downtown area. Probably due to the cold winters and other weather conditions we contend with.

I remember when I was able to walk only 1 mile per hour (or less) and I probably frostbit my hands.... and the time when it was raining and I had difficulty holding an umbrella and a cane....it would have been nice to be in a skyway then. emoticon

My CPAP machine has been readjusted from a setting of 11 back down to 8 which should help air leaks which may be causing my blurry vision that comes off and on.

A week ago I had blurry vision and headache with a neckache and I did get a new prescription from the eye doctor who said my vision had improved....

Things went well with the weaker glasses until today....

I had blurry vision again and had trouble with several different strengths of readers. Driving to work I was unable to read the road signs again.

I am lucky to be seeing the neurologist on Thursday since this blurry vision coming and going apparently has not been an eye problem per se. I hope the neurologist can figure out what is causing this. I also am having spine pain that started in my neck and has moved down to my mid back. My lower back has been hurting pretty regularly ever since I took a 1 mile walk on hilly terrain way back in September. I thought I should have recovered from that by now, but actually it seems to be getting worse.

Today I decided to walk to my clinic appointment and so got 40 minutes of exercise, walking about 1.25 miles which is a pretty slow pace. I had to bring my CPAP machine which is fairly heavy and so I used my walker so my purse and CPAP machine wouldn't weigh me down.

I am glad I walked...and I saved about $8.00 for parking to boot!!! I'll walk again tomorrow the same route when I go for the echocardiogram at the hospital.

  Walking is good.I walk every day.I usually have to use a cane but I still walk.Saving money is a bonus.Good luck.Hope the doctor can find an answer to your problems.

This morning I had a great breakfast under 200 calories.

After I ate it and felt satisfied I tracked the calories and nutrition stats and was surprised it was so low in calories. It was also low in protein (I probably will have an egg or some soy protein tomorrow morning.)

Part of the reason for the satisfaction was the VARIETY of items. Oatmeal, flax meal, soy milk, skim milk, coffee, stevia, dried cranberries and fresh cranberries. A bit of cinnamon added (the spice I eat quite often with breakfast) would have been a nice addition.

The rest of the day won't be quite so easy to plan for nutrition as we are going out for dinner with a friend. My main concern at the seafood restaurant is the sodium content since I really enjoy shrimp, crab and lobster. Something to ponder before I get there as I need to limit sodium intake due to a fluid retention problem.

I'm off on a great start and won't let a dinner out spoil that.

    Unfortunately it was a local restaurant with a website but no nutritional values...when I tried to see the menus there were "broken files." Ended up with an interesting salad and coconut shrimp.

    I also check out the websites for nutritional values. Sometimes the meal itself is fine but it's the sodium content that makes it a killer.

    Some restaurant have web sites that list their dishes nutritional value. Or decide what you want and make a change in the way it's prepared. Whatever, enjoy the meal and company. emoticon

emoticon I will get out those skinny clothes again this year!!! (Sizes 14 & 16 in storage)....

I am sick of the clothes I have been wearing and just hate buying things at the plus size store....

My goal is to get back where I belong...in size 16 and then 14s....dreaming of 12s.....

I am doing well so far and tracked all my food yesterday and so far what I have had today.

Will be leaving the house in half an hour to go to the gym. Starting out my workout with the leg press again. Then 10 minutes on the recumbent bike, then to the swimming pool.....

Must lose weight and strengthen all my muscles, especially the legs, knees and back....

My computer is acting up....

Short and sweet....will eat half as much breakfast (about 250 to 300 calories instead of 500) as I have been doing.

Also, I plan to carry a pad to write down everything I eat when I am away from my laptop.

My daily calorie goal is 1200 to 1500 (according to SparkPeople) and apparently I have been closer to 2000 or more....so no wonder I have gained 15 lb in the past 6 months.

My internist said it is "understandable" why I have gained weight in the past 1-1/2 years with 2 knee replacements....whether it is "understandable" or "forgivable" I feel bad about it as it is obviously affecting my "quality of life."

And again, "today is the first day of the rest of my life."

(hope I don't hit that mysterious combination of keys that wipes out my blog before I can post...again).....
Happy New Year and don't drink and drive and don't ride with anyone under the influence, please!!!

    I have those mysterious keys too! I have had issues with writing blogs and somehow selecting everything and wiping it out. I started using word to write the blog so if it happened I could undo and get what I wrote back.
