Today my neck is much better and the headache is only a dull not severe one. The "new ache of the day" is my mid to lower back. I haven't decided whether to use a cane or just use my old lady grocery cart to carry whatever I need to carry to work (purse and lunch). I might just pare down to the bare minimum and wear my jacket with the big pockets. I probably carry too much junk around anyhow. Let's see...
My need list when I leave the house:
Nasal spray & inhaler
brush, chap stick
Acetaminophen for back/neckache/headache
Lunch....(orange & protein bar) Have peanut butter and ww bread in my desk.
That could be put in my pockets of my jacket. Today I should be okay at work and will manage with the lower backache if I remember to get up and stretch at least every 45 minutes or so. Thank goodness I have tomorrow off from work.
An important P.S.
I found this on someone else's blog and found it appropriate:
Please Copy and Paste if you have enjoyed the blessing of meeting people online that you never would have met any other way. This is my end of the year shout-out to the many "friends" I have never been in the same room with but who have inspired, amused, comforted, encouraged, and touched me in so many ways. I love you people! Here's to another year together.'
I had just seen the opthalmologist about a month ago for a yearly exam and so going again today, I felt a bit sheepish...about returning so soon. First thing I said was the orhopedic doctor told me to come here. I also said I could see better for driving without my glasses and I woke up yesterday with a neck ache, headache and blurry vision. Went to work and had to hold my head about 4 inches from the computer and leaning forward also increased my neck pain.
It turned out I don't need glasses for driving and and I need a weaker reading correction. I had used the driving glasses for almost a year and suddenly I could see better without them than with them. As for reading and computer I had been using 2.25 to 2.5 strength readers for at least the past 2-3 years and today was tested as needing only 1.5 strength readers. (This change happened suddenly overnight as far as I could tell. It might have happened more gradually but the biggest change coincided with waking up with a horrible neckache and headache.)
I was afraid I had some horrible eye disease or was losing my vision as I was seeing double with each eye separately and together.
I have to thank God for this blessing! My eyes have actually improved over the past year and I am greatly relieved.
If my neckache and headache are improved tomorrow morning when I wake up I will go back to work.
I am unable to see physical therapy for my neck until a week from Friday and I am scheduled to see the neurologist next week on Thursday. I will try some more ice as suggested by the chiropractor this evening and take a muscle relaxer before going to bed.
For now, I will stay away from the gym as I don't want to strain my neck.
I was most worried about the neck pain I had yesterday so I went to see an orthopod in the evening at an after hours clinic and he said I am having symptoms from neck arthritis (every level, especially the C7. He said the blurry vision was probably not related to the neck and I should get checked out by my eye doctor and a neurologist. I still have blurry vision and the neck spasms so I have to call in sick which I hate doing cause I always think I sound so lame on that recording. I was hoping I could feel good enough to go back to work today but if I can't make it through a whole day of work I would get 2 incidents and I am already over the maximum incidents.... (I went home yesterday after about 4 hours of struggling to see and straining my neck to read the computer screen and making my neck hurt worse).
Today I will spend some time on the phone to make those 2 appointments plus set up my first physical therapy visit for my neck (the ortho doctor did prescribe some physical therapy for my neck spasms/pain).
Yesterday morning when I went to work I thought I could "tough it out," but I was wrong and my production grid wasn't looking very good, either, between the neck pain and the blurry vision. I hope having this week to get to all my appointments and resting and therapy will help me feel better.
Right now the music is muted on the t.v. from the Yule Log....there apparently are a lot of bad Christmas songs....e.i. I want a hippopotamus for Christmas.....
I might have to put on some Christmas DVDs or my favorite radio station (KBEM, jazz station)....
Hope you are having a nice Christmas. We are staying home until the gym opens at 3:00 this afternoon....can't wait to go as I missed yesterday and my joints are stiffening up.
My right ankle is bothering quite a bit and even though the foot specialist said my ankles and feet were okay I am having some doubts about that. I am pretty sure getting into the swimming pool and exercising will make me feel better.
I think at Christmas we should think of the good things in our life (like Thanksgiving) and so I will make at least a short list here:
1. Quiet home life...generally.
2. Enough food (too much, usually).
3. A warm place to live (and warm jammies).
4. 2 nice cats.
5. A reliable car to drive to my job with great benefits.
6. A few friends who are thoughtful and nice to spend time with.
7. SparkPeople for support and great information.
8. A gym membership where I can go daily if I want.
9. Phone calls and emails from my daughter who moved 1000 miles away a year ago (miss her).
10. My husband who is happy to get two nightshirts for Christmas and a ride to the gym this afternoon.
This next week I will work on New Year's Resolutions and post them on my bulletin board to remind me....but will call them my Spark Goals, instead....
If it stops snowing I might get out to the gym today...otherwise will use my treadmill and recumbent Ibike and get out those easy yoga DVDs I bought awhile back and never looked at.
Hubby and I will be spending today and tomorrow alone but I am glad to have some time off work and a well stocked pantry and freezer so there is no need to go out if the weather doesn't get better. The news report is saying it is slippery and should snow another 4 inches or so today.
I had to go to Target yesterday and pick up a prescription that has been waiting for me and had to drive around awhile before I could find a parking space. I couldn't get out of there fast enough as it was very crowded.
This evening I will fix lutefisk for hubby and plain cod (broiled) for me. I invited a friend over but she declined as apparently she doesn't like even the smell of lutefisk. I opted for plain cod because of the price and actually like it better than lutefisk.
