Alive and Kicking

Monday, September 09, 2013

I'm on travel assignment in New Mexico, so I haven't been checking in. I'm doing great though. The apartment I'm in has stairs and no elevator option so my butt and legs are getting some serious attention. I take lots of walks around the small town and love it. Most days I walk a minimum of 40 minutes depending on how late I get off work cause I don't like to be out too long after dark. Safety and all. There is also an amazing recreation center here where I spend a lot of time playing basketball, racquetball, swimming and hitting the cardio and weights. Loving it. I can't promise to track better or anything, but rest assured I'm doing well. Hope everyone out there is doing equally as good. Night all.

I give myself a pep talk all the time. Just know you're not the only one rooting for you even if it seems like it sometimes.

Just worked two busy 12hr nursing shifts. Boy am I glad that's done. I wish I would have worked out more this week, but can't change the past. I can make today and this weekend count though and I plan to. I am starting to face my reality which is that I cannot workout on my work days. So when I work three 12hr shifts, I will only plan on working out four days that week. I believe that my work is like a workout anyway. I never sat down the first day and the second day I only sat down for lunch and to chart for an hour. That means I was pretty much on my feet for like 11hrs and most of that was walking and lifting people. So now that I am off nights I am not as tired on my days off and I can get to the gym those other four days which means I should be on track again. Yay!

Yummy Kale

Sunday, January 06, 2013

Last night I made the best Mediterranean steamed Kale. It was so good. It went perfectly with my baked tilapia. I enjoy trying new recipes and cooking my own meals. That way I know what is in them and I know they are better for me. I have been so much healthier since I've cut out most processed food. And for that I am thankful. Well, just thought I would share. Have a great Sunday. I'm off to finish watching the wild card games before I go workout. Bye all.

Zumba Kicked My Butt

Thursday, January 03, 2013

I did my Zumba video today (1/2/12, I still haven't went to bed so for me it is still the second) and it kicked my butt in a good way. I am so glad my mom got the Zumba box for me for Christmas. I have been wanting to get the DVDs forever, but hate buying things on line. Not to mention the seven DVDs are pretty pricey. Anyway it was an awesome gift and I fully intend to use it till I wear the DVDs out and have to buy a new set. emoticon
Just thought I would check in and see how everyone is doing. I am going to try and get back into this sight now that the holidays are over and I have a little more free time. Have an awesome day and keep moving. I know I will.

Isn't it funny how zumba can be so challenging but yet so fun. I love it!!!

This is one I want to get, but I'll have to save up for it. I've always wanted to take a Zumba class.
