Long Weekend...Good Choices

Sunday, July 07, 2013

On the Fourth we sold hamburgers, hot dogs, and strawberry shortcake at Picnic in the Park. It was a very busy day and at night we went to pick up a treadmill that we found on Craig's list. I love it!

Friday we went to Long Island for my mother in law's memorial service. It was very touching. There were tons of big family meals but I survived with my game plan in tact.

I am looking forward to a very positive week.

It has been awhile.......

Tuesday, July 02, 2013

The nice thing about being a part of Spark People is that they are always there for you ready for you to pick yourself up and come back into the fold. Even though I am teaching summer school, summer is always my time to regroup and be good to myself. I am in okay shape but there are some clothes I would love to fit into again and I could use some more energy. This is the time I am going to do it!

If you build it, the weight will fall...

Saturday, January 05, 2013

In Field of Dreams Ray Kinsella hears a voice that whispers, "If you build it, he will come". I am working hard to make the right choices to build an environment where I can release the weight and have the toned, healthy body I strive for. This will not happen overnight but every good choice is a step in the right direction. When I make good choices about by nutrition and exercise I feel so good and I realize I can feel really good about who I am and what I look like right now. There is not a specific number on the scale that gives you good health and happiness.

I love this! I too have bee making better choices and I feel so much better about me. I have saved a copy of your blog in my planner, I plan on using it to lift me up when I am having a not so good day..and we both know that day will come sooner or later. It is how we react to that day that will make a difference on our journey.
Happy New Year!

Goals for 2013

Friday, December 28, 2012

This is a work in progress.... (getting some great ideas from fellow Spark users)

1. Log in my food everyday
2. 10 minute strength video 2-3 times a week
3. walk or elliptical everyday
4. Get at least 7 hours of sleep nightly.
5. Drink 8 glasses of water a day
6. Get at least 5 servings of fruits and/or veggies each day.
7. Chew gum during meal preparation to avoid nibbling while cooking. Calories saved: 100 or more
8. Establish a reward system for every 5 pounds I lose. The reward will not be food related.

Great strategies! I am going to "adopt" these for me in 2013! I especially love the reward system. This and Sparking will get you to where you want to be. Keep us posted on your success. emoticon

You can get back on track

Friday, December 21, 2012

The start of the week was a bit of a disaster. I was feeling overwhelmed by the horrific tragedy in Newtown, my schedule was booked solid, and the holiday stress started. By Wednesday I was a mess and eating all kinds of stuff I really didn't want. My body felt like crap. On Wednesday I started adding a 10 minute elliptical workout when I woke up. Thursday and today I decided I was totally not going to partake in any treats at school. I made it through two days of constant, wonderful looking bake goods and candy. After a while being able to say no made me feel strong. Tonight we went to a holiday party and I was able to stick to my plan. I got back on track and feel confident I can stay on track and still enjoy the Christmas foods and treats I love!

Treats in the staff room are my worst enemy! I always feel strong and accomplished when I manage to say no... so why do I keep saying yes? Something to keep working on.
