WHY does this ALWAYS happen???

Thursday, August 16, 2012

I make a pledge to focus on my diet, determined to drop some emoticon lbs this month, and ramp up the exercising, and what happens? I get SICK!!! emoticon Somehow I got strepthroat again, missed 2 days of work and several days of working out! And of course, when you don't feel well you want that "comfort food" all the more. Probably should try to eat HEALTHIER when my throat hurts, to see if I can get well faster, but NOOOO, I over-indulged instead. I should make that a new goal: eat healthy & don't overindulge next time I get sick. Or maybe, don't get sick??? emoticon

At least today I'm feeling much better, in fact I just went for a short 10-15 min. walk emoticon Maybe try to do a little hand weights or stretchy band workout tonight, AFTER I get some last minute school supplies for my daughter. Hey, fighting the crowds at WalMart is a workout in itself sometimes! emoticon

Have you ever heard that over exercising can lower your immunity? I am no expert, but you might want to check it out.

There should be a Wal Mart work out plan. You three laps around the inside of the building, dodging the lil old ladies on the motorized chairs. Avoiding kids in mid tantrum. then dash through the parking lot find your car

Hi and sorry to here that you were sick. And it's really funny what you said about (being sick and what we choice to eat,) because I was thinking the same thing the other day when I wasn't feeling just right(head and neck aches, and that maybe if I was to eat better I might be feeling better) Good for you a walking workout, and I do agree with this too(fighting the crowds at WalMart is a workout in itself sometimes!) You are so right, and this is the first year in 20 years that I don't have to do it, good luck and hope you get out ok! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

New August Goal!

Thursday, August 09, 2012

Today is August 9, and I'm a little late making this, but I read another blog yesterday from a lady who managed to lose 8 lbs last month, and is going for 7 lbs this month. My lowest weight so far this year is 137 lbs, but it's gone up a couple of pounds since then. So, I will be joining my virtual 5K buddy in the goal of losing 7 lbs this month! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Starting today, I will begin to log my food intake at least 5 days a week, continue in 2B's August mini-challenge, and pay more attention to portion sizes. I would like to keep calories between 1500-1600 daily - and NOT kid myself into thinking I can do 1200 cals, that just ain't happening! emoticon

I admire your desire to lose 7 lbs this month, but you may want to rethink as a bit too high, especially since the month is nearly 1/3 over. I don't mean to discourage you.
But in my experience it has worked a lot better to set smaller weight loss goals and have the satisfaction of meeting them. Something to think about.

Zombie training pt. 1

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

So I mentioned the Zombie run in Hinton on Oct. 6th. My hubby is signed up, and I should get signed up Friday. And I've started training for it as well. I've watched some YouTube videos, and besides zombies there are hills, a haystack to climb and some kind of rope netting to climb over. So, I've started running intervals, increasing the incline on my treadmill from 2.0 (what I usually run on) to 7.0. Of course I run slower at that incline, but that's okay. And I alternate that with fast sprinting at a 1.0 incline. I can run at about 5 mph for 20-25 minutes, so on the sprints I push it up as high as 5.8 mph. One of my New Year's resolutions is to increase running speed to 6 mph - that may be the ONLY resolution I keep! emoticon

So, that part of the training is going well, but I also need to work on upper-body strength. I have some 5lb dumbells, but probably need to push that up a bit. Also need to do pushups, and chin-ups would be great. Unfortunately I don't have a chinup bar at home. I've ruled out getting that bar that hangs over the door, as many people have told me it falls off during the chinup. In fact, one of my co-workers said her ex-boyfriend fell flat on his back once, and the bar hit him in the face! emoticon So I'm open for suggestions here!

I also need to clean up my diet (as usual). I've got this thing called the Runner's diet, mostly just common sense lists of acceptable fruits/veggies/grains and lean meats & dairy. Oh, if I could JUST stick with the lists and cut out all that extra CRAP I eat! emoticon I KNOW I need to fuel my body right if I want to build up strength and endurance (not to mention speed - there WILL be Fast Zombies on the run!), but it's easier said than done. I totally FAIL at "dieting" sometimes - like right now, enjoying that Starbucks Iced White Chocolate coffee drink. I'm so baaaaaad! Oh well, tonight I'll make SparkPeople Turkey Meatballs for dinner, which is in full compliance with the Runner's diet. We'll see how it goes.... emoticon

Hi emoticon just wrote on a post you wrote. And saw your blog, ( the Zombie run) Wow sounds cool, my youngest daughter(18) said to tell you that I know a zomie. Well not at your race, but on Oct.27 in St. Louis. She is a slow moving zombie. Is this your first race like this? And I think that this is cool, I now know a zombie runner and a zombie! Well I hope your training and race goes well, and please let me know how it's going. hanks and have a ghoul time! emoticon emoticon

July is a new month

Monday, July 02, 2012

Well last month my goal was to put in 1500 fitness minutes - and I didn't quite make it. emoticon But July is a new month, and I logged all that crazy activity I did yesterday: grocery shopping 30 min (WalMart is ALWAYS a challenge!); vaccuuming my house 10 min; and carrying boxes to help my daughter move 20 min. Didn't get home until almost midnight, and boy am I tired! I need my sleep - I should make THAT a goal for July! emoticon Tonight it's laundry and a 20-30 minute Cardio bootcamp with Coach Nicole, and I'll try again to make that 1500 minute mark for July! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Great goal, that is about 30 min. / day, and about what we all should be doing too.

I am setting that as my goal for this month as well. We can all do this.
