I have figured out a way to stay in the gym longer. I used to watch videos on my iPod, but frankly, it was getting expensive paying the $2 to download. I tried reading, but that wasn't working because it was hard to read and pedal, read a jog. Well the answer is hardcover large print books. I get them from the library. I put them on the stand and I can read while I woke out. I try and get something really racy- like a mystery- so the suspense propels me while I work out.

Last week I put in 270 minutes of cardio! That's 4 and a half hours! A big step up for me.

Have you ever tried downloading Podcasts? They're on the iTunes website, cover a wide variety of subjects (news, health, hobbies, comedy, etc.), and they're FREE!!! They can last anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour.

I like to listen to the motivational ones or the health/fitness ones. I like "Motivation to Move" and "The Daily Boost."

Losing Inches

I have only lost 4 pounds, but I decided to do my monthly meauring just to see how I am doing. Oh my goodness. I was so surprised to see how many inches I have lost! I have dropped an inch from my waist. Even my neck has gotten smaller. i am a little but frustrated that I can't figure out how to get the spark page to tally my inches, but I think next month I can just get my calculator and do it by hand.

But anyway, this is exciting. I knew my clothes were fitting better, but seeing the progress on the tape measure what such a thrill!

Notes on Not Getting too Caught Up

Yesterday, I got in a sort of tricky food situation. I drank too much wine, and nibbled on too many crudites. I finally totaled it all up this morning and it wasn't nearly as bad as I had feared. I am so glad that I went ahead and wrote it all down, or else I would be walking around feeling like had ruined everything.

On another note, I woke up this morning thinking about my diet. NOT GOOD. I do not want to be one of those people who devote all their energy to their weight loss plan. I want to live life and be productive. I want to stay on the plan, of course, but when I take stock of my day, i want more to show for it than what I ate (or didn't eat.)

You remember that late Texas Governor, Ann Richards? She said she didn't want her tombstone to read "She kept a clean house." Well, I don't want mine to read, "She was able to fit into a size ten."

I am so thrilled at my one-week weigh in. I woke up this morning so worried that I wouldn't have lost a thing. I was fretting over things I had eaten, worried that I hadn't done the recording right, etc. I know this is just a little tiny step, but it's a step and it's in the right direction.

One Week Sparkaversary!

Well, I have been sparking it for a week now. I will be weighed in just before lunch time. I hope that I will see a little bit of loss. I am trying to prepare myself in case I don't. I am such a goal oriented person, that I have trouble just giving myself credit for how hard I have worked this week.
