I've been stuck with my weight for a long time now and have finally decided to get really serious about kicking into high gear. Probably doesn't hurt that I have my annual checkup next week.
I'm tracking everything I eat and trying for workouts both morning and night. Since I'm really into the jogging lately I'm doing 20 minutes, a mile and a half, on the treadmill twice a day.

I will break thru into the 170's!


Well finally! Life kept getting in the way of working out like I had planned but I guess sweating thru a 5k with the newly formed River City Running Club did the trick. Breaking that 180 barrier is just the motivation I need.

5k Number 2

Off to do another 5k tomorrow morning. Training for them is great motivation to workout and I'm finally starting to see some changes. I've been wearing clothes lately that I haven't taken out of the closet in years.

    I'm exhausted tonight but I feel good about what I was able to do. I'll decide in the morning whether i'll be ready for another one in a week!

    Heard you ran the whole thing!!! Great Job! Don't worry about speed - I hear that will come with time. I just enjoy a gentle jog most the time anyway.

    I'm sure we'll be doing both, although I just about need to jog to keep up with most people's walking pace.

    That's why I was doing them a few years ago too. Now I feel like I am starting over. Oh well, gotta start somewhere!

First 5k Completed

Well we did it and even though we were close to the back of the pack we didn't come in last. Afterwards we felt great and it was a real motivator. I've already picked out a couple more that I'm going to sign up for.

    Yay! Congrats! I started doing "races" (or as I prefer to call them - organized jogs!) a few years back and they really help me stay on track with the exercise. Good luck in the future - you'll do great:)

First 5k

Saturday I'll be doing my first 5k Charity race. I've conned my best friend into doing it with me and even though we'll walk all but the last bit we're still extremely nervous. I'm looking forward to having this first one behind me and the feeling of accomplishment I'm sure we'll have.
