New toy!

The mini travel scale has arrived. Do you have to balance to get an accurate measurement - sure you do. Does it give a different measurement every time you step on it? Yes it does - but only by a few ounces... Just like my regular, full-sized digital bathroom scale.

Nice new toy for we who travel frequently.... emoticon

    I save money on the travel scale and just presume morbid obesity! That has proven reliable, accurate and free! Good thing I travel seldom!

    I just got a new scale because our old one became so unreliable. I did not believe that a scale existed that tells you the same weight wherever in the bathroom you place it, but this one does. It tells all sorts of information, water, muscle, BMI, bone density, your phone number, but for me, the main event is still the kilos and weight lost. Not sure how much I like having no wiggle room though!

Regardless of dietary choices being very good for the entire week...

Lack of sleep + high stress = no weight loss for Tink.

The good news... At least I didn't gain weight!

  I know that it's frustrating when that happens. I know that I can predict my weight the next morning depending on how much water I drank, how bad the stress levels were, and if I've been forced to eat out instead of at home for some reason.

Sometimes, knowing what to expect helps a little, but not too much.

Travel continues to get easier

This week finds me in the Carolina's! Same hotel room for the week (with a fridge) makes things even easier. Stopped by the local grocery for some no nitrate chicken breast from the deli and a bag of baby carrots. No time for breakfast - grab protein and veggies, late night munches? Protein and veggies!

Got to order my own lunch from Zaxbys yesterday - grilled chicken salad with no toast, no fried onions, no cheese.... Perfect.

Only downfall, the new suit purchased mid to early March is already too big.

These are the problems I love!!!!!

    in my business travels I ended up solo on a number of occasions and found that a lot of supermarket chains will steam a lobster for you. So between the bagged salads and lobster, I feasted quite nicely....and the company picked up the tab. I got used to packing a small can opener, utensils, and nutcracker just in case.

    Hey Tink,

Congrats on it coming together. Travel had always been my nemesis. I finally made progress on my last week-long trip. Nothing too specific, just more of a focus.

Regarding breakfast - technically you can't skip it, cause at some point in time you will eat and therefore break your fast. That's the story I am sticking to.

My recent experience of eating only when hungry has me not eating until about 11am. Just the way my body is working on this Primal journey. I think the consideration that one must eat breakfast is one of those Conventional Wisdom things that works for some people and not for others.

I suspect when one's body converts to burning fat, it doesn't need food as often, again, that is my current experience.

The clothes not fitting is hilarious, while also being an annoyance and an expense. Have had the same - I am now needing my second new wardrobe since beginning the journey - can probably hold off for about 5 more pounds, then the pants start looking like my teenaged son, hangin" off my butt. Are you finding body comp is changing even faster than the scale?

So, as always, I encourage you to do what works for you and have a great trip - hopefully you have some play time along the way.

    suit too big? what a great problem to have! Sounds like you have a good plan while in a hotel. Traveling is the hardest part for me about the lifestyle.

My husband climbed on the Paleo train just before my last trip and that helped a lot! It seemed like we were walking down different paths before that.

A funny thing happened at the bowling alley last night... (okay - I'm not a bowler; but one of the regular friends owns a bowling ball and we probably end up at a bowling alley about 2-4 times a year. Yesterday was $10 for unlimited bowling; so after dinner, we headed over to let the bowlers get thier fill for another 3-6 months!).

At the end of the second game, a friend called me over for a private conversation. "Do you realize on your approach, you swing your arm out to the side like you're trying to avoid hitting yourself in the hip with the ball? But you don't still have those hips...!"

Seriously - was I??? Sure enough I spent the rest of the evening trying to adjust "my bowling form" to go with my new body. Too funny - the things we don't think about!

    In 3 - 6 months you will have to adjust your form again - damn that right sizing.

    Yeah, that's a great problem to have. Good job. I'm sure that it's fixable given a little more practice but hopefully you'll have lost more weight by the next time you go bowling again. Sounds like fun. I haven't bowled in ages.

    Hands down the most unique NSV ever!

I do this weird leg kick thing when I bowl. My back leg flies way up in the air. I'm sure it looks hysterical.
