All went well

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Thank you to everyone who commented and have supported me. All went well with the biopsy on DH and now we just need to wait. It was a long day but is over now and we are home. It is good to have the week off work and not be on a time schedule so to speak. Been having a peaceful day to myself today, sorting out some clothes and stuff that need de cluttering. Lots of washing done. Tea is in the slow cooker so that is done too. Might go shopping tomorrow and try and meet up with a friend for some window shopping. Dont really need anything but a day out without chores would be nice. Thank you again for all of your support. This is why this site is so great.

two weeks

Saturday, May 23, 2009

Today was my last day at work for two weeks. I have holidays now and plan to "spring" clean the house even though winter is knocking at the door. I also hope to get in lots of extra exercise and generally having a break from work. Tomorrow I need to clean out the car so that we can travel and fit our stuff in. My dh needs to go to hospital for a liver biopsy (ouch) so we need to travel to the major hospital which is 200kms away. Hopefully all will go without a hitch and we can come home again for some R and R. Feeling a bit apprehensive but trying to make light of the situation for my dh who is as nervous as. (Don't blame him). Fingers crossed, all will be fine.

    Dear Amy,

Have a great holiday despite the worries and chores, and safe travels. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!

FOR NOW AND ALWAYS, MAY GOD ABUNDANTLY BLESS YOU, and those you love, in every way that you require. May he hold you gently in the palm of his hand in a very personal way, and may you rest in the fullness of his love, his grace, his strength, his wisdom, his rescue, his redemption, his healing, his inspiration, his restoration and his mercy as you require it! May you carry in your heart an extra special awareness of God's great love for you; may you continue to grow into the gift of your life, and may you see his miracles all around you. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Amen!

I hope that all goes well for your DH and you can get the needed RR. We will have you in our prayers. Just remember if you are heavy cleaning you can count that as exercise.

Oh boy I am so glad it is no longer winter here in Canada. I'll be planting my flowers this weekend.

Sorry to hear your husband is going in for a liver biopsy, I hope all goes well for him.

Thank you for your comment on my blog and your response to my post this morning (or is it evening for you?) I must admit you seem like a very nice and motivating person.

Enjoy your two weeks vacation:)

Wishful, nah... determined.

Yesterday was grocery shopping day. It takes away nearly my whole day. I usually shop for enough for 2-3 weeks at a time and just pick up fresh fruit /veg if I need some on the way home from work. It was great. heaps of stuff on special.real food like butternut pumpkins and bananas and apples. yoghurt was cheap. I bought celery and carrots. It was a nice change from what is the norm. usually cola or chips and lollies are on special. today I went back again. I know but I have to drive to town and I wanted to look around for me. Just for me. I cut up a heap of veggies and put them in my slow cooker with a tin of crushed tomatoes and that was tea for the family mostly organised. did my washing, well its the family's washing but it is always me that seems to be the laundry girl. and off I set. I went browsing in the second hand shops looking for some cheap sport equipment and came across some really nice clothes. I tried them on. I bought 2 of the tops I tried on and I also tried on a really nice pair of trousers. modern, trendy ones. boy they felt really nice and looked good too but... I couldnt do up the button. darn... They sit midrise and this is the biggest part of my belly. .. I couldnt help it I bought them anyway. this will be my motivation for the next few weeks. because I will be wearing them this winter. (It is almost winter here now) I also bought a fabulous jacket to wear with my trousers. It is just a black plain one but has shiny stripes in the fabric. It is not too formal and will be a bit dressier for when I go to town shopping or out. Usually I live in daggy trackky daks or gym pants with my runners . the rest of the time I am at work and wear a baggy uniform. (baggy chef trousers are not the most flattering thing to wear)so dont have to worry about what to wear. I still have some more things to get rid of in my wardrobe and will try to go through that on the weekend and sort out what to keep and what to get rid of. I gave away all of my "big" clothes a while ago and some things I were given I kept sort of like a wish/dream wardrobe. some of it I wear and some I dont fit into so I will cull this down and just keep what I will actually wear. As at the moment it is very full of nothing to wear.
so my goal for the moment apart from staying on target with my calories etc is to fit properly into my new pants.

What a lovely day, Amy! It's winter here, too... it SNOWED three days this past week (in case the cattiness didn't come through, the Canadian Prairie is not supposed to have SNOW in May!). LOL! I find your lovely field especially inspiring today!

Now that you're doing pictures, I can't wait to see those pants and that jacket. ;) They sound lovely. I'm getting rid of all of my 'fat' clothes as they 'appear', and I really do think it helps. It's much harder to ignore any 'problems' until they get completely out of hand this way. In one of my first blogs I talked about the clothes thing... I too have some items from my svelte days, and while some are now hopelessly out of style, they are the only realistic indicator of where I'm trying to get to, and I'm using them to egg on my own determination. Funny how 17 months ago, they represented 'wistfulness'. Unfortunately I've missed all my deadlines, but I'm NOT whining... much. :) Wearing nicer, fitted clothing every day also helps... though I still rely on the 'mommy' uniform all together too much (daggy tracky daks or gym pants with my runners). I feel better the days I make more of an effort... I think it reminds me to not take myself for granted.

Thanks again, for dropping by my blog! I highly recommend getting some pictures of your inner athlete up. I can't tell you just how amazing it makes me feel just looking at them. Every time I want to get up and DO something to get there!

Thanks for sharing and giving me an opportunity to reflect!

Happy Sparkerversary!!

Tuesday, May 05, 2009

Okay so it's about time I showed my face. If you guys can put up pictures of yourselves in not much clothing then I can show my face so at least you know who your talking to.
In the last twelve months I have travelled a great personal journey and have made some great friends here at sp. without your support it would be a lonely journey indeed. My health has improved as well as my inner soul. Now to concentrate on losing some weight, which is what I came to this site for but found so much more than that and am glad.
Thanks to you all for your support. It means a great deal to me to read your words of encouragement. I hope you are all doing well. Here's to another bigger and better year with SP.

Way to go, Amy!!!!!!! You are beautiful... and a redhead!!!!! Great pose, too! Your eyes look violet/blue... are they?

I know what you mean about it taking some 'courage' to get a picture up on site. I hate doing the picture thing in real life, and I've felt quite happy not 'showing my face' here. Since we don't have a digital camera, it helps me retain that position, but I'm not going to let that stop me in the very near future. I'm going start the 'before/after picture thing'. Yes, I'm nervous as HE**! but I get so excited when I see those of others (especially some of my heroes) and while I have reservations, I've decided that I don't want to cheat myself of the experience at a personal level. I'm just waiting until I am actually ready to get back to sustained physical activity. The last thing I want is to have the before picture 'mocking' me for months on end, with no real change in sight! LOL! Stay tuned!

Happy Sparkaversary!!! And it's great to see your beautiful smiling face, too! I know that was a very big leap for you, and it's just one more indicator of the phenomenal personal growth you've gone through this past year.

You are awesome and I know you will reach your goal exactly when you mean to!

Hugs!!!

    Hi Tami,

I am glad you put the picture up and you are a beautiful lady. You have come far on this journey and I look forward to the days we are able to support each other through this journey.

You are a great SP friend and I am glad your here with me. Without people like yourself I would have given up a long time ago. Congrats on the sparkanniversary. Now we both can celebrate Spark Power's 1 year anniversary together this month.

May 2009

Saturday, May 02, 2009

Life in the fast lane has its charms, but for your sanity and health, you need to stop now and then. Slow down and reflect upon yourself. How are you going? Am I looking after myself? Could I be better?

Bodies in motion tend to stay in motion: that is the Law of Inertia. Committment to physical activitly is a win/win situation. Good for your health - heart lungs etc but also for your innner being, lifts your mood makes you feel good.

This month I commit to being more active consistantly.

My mini goal is to get to 20,000 steps per day.
I need to use heavier weights for my strength training.
