Day 3 - DONE!

Alright, we're on to Day 3 of the Bootcamp Challenge and I'm thrilled! Why am I thrilled you ask? Well there are several reasons: 1) I've worked out consistently for 3 days in a row! 2) Each workout brings me one step closer to reaching my goals! 3) I feel better, mentally and physically, now that I'm back to exercising and eating right again.

It's obviously way to early to see any changes in my body, but I can definitely FEEL them. I'm sore in places I haven't been sore in, in a long time! I was a little sad because a lot of the progress I'd made has disappeared. My endurance is lower, my muscle definition I was gaining is gone, etc., but I won't let any of that get me down. I can easily gain it all back if I stay on track and continue to work hard!

As part of the Challenge, not only do you have to do a video everyday, but you also have to do 30 min of cardio 5 out of 7 days a week. I chose to do this video (plus 10 minutes of dancing) to fulfill my cardio requirement and I really liked it. It was different than any of the workouts I normally do which is great for variety and muscle confusion, but it was also easy to modify any of the moves that I couldn't quite do. I just checked it out and I am going to try this one tomorrow. It looks energetic! I also love that you danced for 10 minutes. You know I love the dancing! You are rocking this and I am sooooooo glad you are back!

    Yay way to go. I missed the workout yesterday because I just kept putting it off. So I did two workouts today. I couldn't believe that I was sore from these workouts. To my inner, more fit self, they seem easy but psh my body thinks otherwise.
Since I just started getting back on track and my cardio endurance is pretty bad right now, I've been working my way up from 10 minutes and I did 25 mins the other day. I have been tracking my food religiously, even though I have been over most days.

Spring Bootcamp Challenge - Day 1 Complete!

I'm in a really good place today! Some members of the SA Spark team met up at the Oxbow Trailhead this morning to root on one of our fellow members during her triathlon and it really was a great time! I got in some upper body ST and even a little jogging while we waited for her to complete her run! I felt so good after that, I came home and joined Spark's Spring Into Shape Bootcamp Challenge! I'm sure I was high on all those exercise endorphins, but I joined and there's no going back. I've already completed my Day 1 workout, a simple 10-min cardio kickboxing video!

I don't think I noticed until recently how so much inactivity has affected me mentally. I of course want to loose weight, but besides sorta eating healthy, I haven't really done anything to loose the weight. I was feeling worthless and lazy and I was embarrased and sad, but no more. Since nothing is handed to us on silver platters, at least not to me, you have to get up and take what you want. I want a better life and I'm taking it! I claim it for myself right now in front of all of you!

If you've fallen off the wagon, then today is the day to get back on. I fall off all the time, but I don't give up. If you've been away and are just now coming back, the Bootcamp challenge is a great way to ease back into things. Give it a try and we'll do it together!

    I am on day 3. Like you, I didn't realize how inactive I was/am.. I always made excuses for not going to the gym. One of my top excuses is looking/feeling fat and feeling embarrassed. Not to mention I didn't want to see people from school, especially since its health care professionals. I can definitely feel the strength training videos though. My muscles ache when just a couple of years ago they would have been asking for more.

    That boot camp did amazing things for me last May - it can do them for youtoo! I always feel somuch worse when I'm not exercising regularly.

May Goals

So I've never thought about making monthly goals. but after reading JOSIEHEALTHY's blog I thought I'd try something new. Since I'm still trying to get back into the swing of things I thought some easy goals that help me get back on track would be a good idea!

So here they are:
Get at least 8 hours of sleep
Drink at least 8 glasses of water
Exercise at least 4 days a week
Stay in range for sodium intake

They are simple and easily attainable goals. I think they're good goals that are good stepping stones to better habits!

We went to Clear Springs for Reiko's birthday last night! I hadn't been there in years and it was SO good! I akso applied for two jobs yesterday. One is with WOAI and the other is with MIX 96.1. I'm hoping for at least one call back, although I don't even know which job I want more. They both have their pros and cons. Fingers crossed people!

    Good luck with the Jobs TaMara!!! I know when I took my new position at the bank, it was right for me. Although I have a lot of overtime right now, I have been able to move my schedule some to enjoy some more time at home.

by the way, those are great goals. Can I use them too?

Ooooh, good luck with the jobs. I recently applied for a position at Our Lady of the Lake University. I hate interviews but I love the idea of "what if.....".

Spring Cleaning is Complete...well almost!

Ok, so I didn't get a workout in today, but we managed to cross off the reamining items on my to-do list. Well, except for one that is! I still need to go through my stack og magazines, tear out what articles, recipes, workouts, I want to keep and put them in binders. I have so many magazines it makes the task daunting so I keep putting it off. Instead of overwhelming myself, I'm going to divide the magazine into sections and take 5 or so at a time until I'm done! The only other thing I've been putting off is organizing my shelves in the closet. The clothes are just thrown in there with no rhyme or reason, but it should take less than an hour to get things situated.

Even though I didn't get a workout in, I'm not upset. I have plenty of time to get in a lengthy workout in since I don't have much in the way of housework tomorrow!! I'm planning on a walk on the treadmill in the morning and some more intense cardio in the afternoon! My backup plan is to break up my workouts into small batches throughout the day. I'm going to do whatever I have to do to get those fitness minutes in!

    Getting this sorted and cleaned helps me feel better.
Not working out might be alright depending on the cleaning your doing... it might be in the exercise catagory..

Another Great Day!

I woke up full of energy and drive this morning! Instead of vegging watching tv and playing online I got right to work cleaning the house. I made so much progress that before I knew it, it was noon. I got in some upper and lower body ST and then got a full body workout washing my car.

I still need to tackle the bedroom tomorrow. It just seems to collect so much STUFF! But I do need to lay down some ground rules for Reiko. As a stay at home wife I have NO problem cleaning, but I do have an issue with her coming home and destroying all my progress in 5 minutes. I sound like my mom, but it has to be said. "Don't make more work for me!"

On a side note, we're going to the SA Rampage game Thursday! They made it to the playoff woop woop! I'm so excited cause it's going to be a great game, but she also got the tickets for FREE because she works for Firestone and they're a sponsor! And who doesn't love free?!?!

I hope I can get a workout in tomorrow. I actually want to go for a walk, at least 4-5 miles, even if it's on the treadmill!
