Plan of Attack - Part I

One of my goals for this year is to eat healthier. So here is my "plan of attack":

1) Eat 5 small meals a deal
2) Snacks will consist of fresh fruits and veggies
3) Track food consistently and stay in calorie range
4) Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, but I'm aiming for more like 10-12
5) Pay attention to my sodium levels
6) Cut down on my soda intake
7) Consume less carbs and more fiber and protein
8) Make smarter food choices when eating out

Eating lots of carbs, not drinking enough water, consuming lots of sugar from the soda, and not getting enough freggies makes me feel fatigued and lazy which means exercise is almost impossible to get motivated for. In doing all of the things listed above together it will increase energy levels which will make working out a little easier. It's only one part of my Master Plan to bave a successful 2012! Stay tuned for Part II

I hope 2012 is getting off to a great start for my Spark fam! We can do this. It probably won't be easy. It might suck sometimes. We might want to quit and give up, but we won't. Because we're fighters. We want to get healthy for ourselves and our loved ones. Don't lose hope, don't give up. Keep pushing forward and remember every second of every day is an opportunity to do the right thing! Even if you over ate at lunch, don't take that as an excuse to blow dinner. Tomorrow is always a new day, but why waste an opportunity to make the right decision now!

My body gallery allows you to enter your height and ideal weight range and you'll get pictures of women that meet your requirements. It is helpful because it gives you an idea of what you could look like and if your ideal weight is right for you.

It is a body type calculator based on the measurement of your wrist or elbow breadth. Basically it says that there are three different body frame types. Ectomorphs - "skinny" (Kate Moss, Cameron Diaz), Mesomorphs "athletic"(Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna), and Endomorphs "fat retainers"(Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Marilyn Monroe).

It talks about each body type, what you tend to look like and where you tend to carry your fat, and what type of diet/exercise will work for you. I, of course, am a Endomorph. I have a slower metabolism and have to work harder than others to lose weight and keep it off. I retain fat more than other body types and I have a curvier figure. It also confirms what I've always thought, that I have a larger frame than other women. I found it helpful, and hopefully you will to!!

    Thanks I looked both of those websites up they are great. It claims I am a mesomorph which not sure about that I am far from athletic but ok. I like the ideal weight they set for me though. :)

    Interestingly, according to that calculator, my wrist size shows a small frame, but my elbow a large frame...I've had this calculated in clinic, though, and I'm a medium-to-large frame, so I know my ideal weight is between 135 and 155 lbs for my 5'6 frame. Not the 125 lbs I was in college, or the 118 from high school that I tried to get back to for years...sheesh I was way too skinny! I'm hoping to settle into a comfortable 140-145 lbs after hitting a healthy BMI of 155.

    I have tried this before and it says I am small framed because of my wrist size but even at my idea weight my hips are 38 inches which definetly is not small frame especially at 5 foot 7.

I am best medium framed at my idea... So like the other poster, not buying it at all and pray there are not gullbile teens out there doing it and starving themselves to fit it.

Preparing for 2012

I want to set some general, non-specific goals for myself for 2012. I want to put them in writing for all to see, to help me stay on track. I won't make excuses for 2011, I won't make myself feel guilty. No past, just the future.

This is what I'm aiming for in 2012:

Eat healthy
Exercise consistently (4-5 days/week)
Quit smoking...again
Get organized

Thant's it. Simple, attainable goals.

Interval Timer

Does anyone use one? I'm thinking of getting one. I like HIITS when I workout and if I got a timer I could make up my own routines...

Have any of you checked out bodyrock.tv? I had come across it before, but never really paid any attention to it. The pictures make the website look really sexually suggestive, but if you can get past that and watch some of the workouts, they are actually really good. They even have recipes and other helpful stuff to.

Just thought I'd share.

    If you have a smart phone, I know there are free interval timer apps for android, and I am sure there are some for iPhone too

    I haven't used one, but I have to say that I ABSOLUTELY HATE interval training. I really tried to love it and do it and I know how good for me it is, but even just the thought of it makes me want to go run into a cave and forget about exercising. :D
