Almost through the first week

Thursday, April 14, 2011

So this adventure started for me on Monday. There are lots of things happening in my life right now that are encouraging me to get healthy. I've made excuses for years: I'm to busy, I'm to tired, I don't have time, I don't like going to the gym.... I've run out of excuses. I quit my job so that I could finish school and I now have ample time to work out. Monday and Tuesday were great days for me. I worked out both days and really paid attention to serving sizes. I was very surprised to realize that on a regular basis I eat 2-3 servings without even realizing it. Wednesday I ate a little bit more than I wanted, or needed and I didn't work out. Normally, this would have sent me down a self-destructive path to just be lazy, eat massive amounts of food for the rest of the week, and start "fresh" on Monday. But this life that I have is the only one I get. It's up to me to make the most of it and that's what I'm doing. I got myself back on track with exercise and diet today. No more getting discouraged over a tiny relapse, I'm going to keep pushing forward. I know I can do this, I just have to do it.

Great job on your first week, and I LOVE your resilient, focused attitude! Just remember that this is a process that will take time and it is best approached using baby steps. You don't have to change everything right now. Just focus on small changes and creating new habits in those areas, and then once those have become part of your routine, you can add in more. Aim for progress, not perfection. If you focus on consistently making good choices, then the weight will come off in time!

I'm really proud of you!

Good job! The beginning of our journey is tough because we are trying to figure out to be healthy AND STILL be ourselves. We DO fit into a healthy lifestyle but it does require some compromise! You obviously have the attitude for this.... the will power and consistency WILL come with a couple more weeks.

You are right... we only have one chance to live this life the way we want to live it. There is no reset button. But, that being said... everything we do and experience effects us, molds us and shapes us. You will learn how to avoid those days, and how to recover from those days. You will learn so much on this journey. Just remember that you are human. You will not be perfect, and you can't hope to be. There will be struggles, but you are strong! And, you are definitely WORTH THIS!

YOU CAN DO IT!

That is an amazing attitude! Congrats!

I know what you mean, I used to have a "cheat day" or a "cheat weekend" which would turn into....yeah. Bad business. Now with my new lifestyle changes, I am about to hit the two month anniversary of good choices. I can't describe how it feels to be proud of myself every single day. I've messed up, don't get me wrong. But knowing that I am strong enough to turn a mistake into a lesson NOW, not tomorrow or next week, gives me courage and pride. Now I PLAN a cheat "meal" and find that I can't, and don't want to eat so much that it throws anything off anyway. Instead I am learning that those occasional meals are actually good shockers for my metabolism. Neat!

emoticon Keep up the good work and know that you ARE WORTH IT!
