Gearing up for uni

Wednesday, January 17, 2007

I just enrolled in uni for the year, I'm doing a full time load while continuing with four days a week of work, which will be full on! I still need to fit in my exercise time, I'll do my best. Uni doesn't start until the end of February, I should be well on my way to my goal by then.
I did a new interval workout today that I picked up off itunes. It was great, I'm really looking forward to doing it again. It did one minute at different levels of intenstity. For me this meant going from walking, to fast walking, to jogging, to fast jogging. I'm still learning to jog, so this was pretty intense for me and really pushed me. My heart was bursting out of my body after the Level 9 each time (fast jog). It finishes with a level 10 for one minute at the very end, which I fudged. I wasn't expecting it, there was no warning, and I'd just busted a gut pushing as hard as I could to finish the Level 9. I guess that means I was already at my Level 10. Next time I know what to expect and can pace myself a little. If anyone wants details of how to get this work out, let me know.
I better get to work, I took a few hours off this morning to get uni organised. I was so nervous logging in to enrol, which was unexpected. I think I was worried about getting the times that I wanted, which is pretty important when I'm cramming so much into each day. Luckily I got exactly what I wanted. Phew!
p.s. still doing 100 crunches a day, but haven't logged into the challenge for a while to check in.

Eight weeks to form a habit?

Tuesday, January 16, 2007

Someone said to me today that it takes eight weeks to make a habit. Iíve heard a few different versions of this idea before. I wonder how much truth there is to it. Right now I am feeling a little less motivated that I was in the first two weeks of my new start. Itís a little harder to get up to exercise in the mornings and Iím thinking more and more about foods that Iím trying to avoid. This feeling will pass though. There will be ups and downs, for the rest of my life! Iíd better get used to it.
On the plus side, my black workout shorts are fitting much better now. A couple of weeks ago I was falling out of them, they looked disgustingly tight on me. Now theyíre snug, but not disgusting, and I can actually wear them again. A black shirt that I bought recently, but which was a little bit too tight and gape-y, is also fitting better. A couple more kilos and Iíll feel confident enough to wear it. Itís very sheer and cap sleeved, itís really cute, but I want to feel good in it, and I donít right now. My jeans are looser too, which is nice. So Iím getting there! One day at a time. One meal at a time.

yeah, i've heard a lot of different things about how long it takes to form a habit...i've heard 21 days, 23 days, a month, 2 months...who really knows...it probably just depends on the person

anyway, i'm so glad you are already seeing results with your clothes fitting looser and everything! congratulations!

Lost 1.7kg this week, which is fantastic, I'm ahead of myself on my goals now and feeling really good. My scales are still being a bit tempermental, but at least they're going down.

Jogging?!

Thursday, January 11, 2007

I JUST JOGGED FOR SEVEN MINUTES!!!!

I did my interval walking podcast, 32 mins total, then thought I'd have a crack and jogging as far as I could. I jogged until it hurt, and I'm very proud of my achievement! Woo hoo!
