Strength Training aka Pyramid.

Saturday, July 09, 2011

Do you want a good workout that just requires some effort and initiative well then try the PYRAMID.
You can change what the exercises are to any three that you want to work on.
I basically do this with free weights, and three specific exercises. So give it a try, you might just be surpised on the effects of this one.

Start at the lower left hand corner, its simple as 1 and 2 and 3.
And just work uphill to you arrive at the BURN STAGE-6-12-18 !!!
Now go downhill and feel the rush of a good workout.

For a good change do this in a 3 day cycle rotating your exercises. OH,BP,CL then CL,OH,BP, then BP,CL,OH. I'm going to do it for the rest of this month every morning then head to the bike and thread mill just to round it out.

And I thought Work was Hard.

Friday, July 08, 2011

I think I have entered into a very paradoxical realm.

Retirement is busy but boring. Exciting but mundane. Oh well just wait till tomorrow.

I never thought not working could be so different. But it can be fun just trying to get a new life started. Finding time for a good exercise program can be difficult with the heat we have had in AZ recently. And then the Haboob hit with a vengence the other day, so the pools are full of mud etc. And the concerns about Valley Fever are rampant, and I do not want to deal with that stuff again.

So I think I will get back on the Pyramid routine and do it just because it works and I have not much else to keep myself busy. As soon as it cools off a bit, then the walking and hiking will return. But not until its in the 80's.

Ok its time for some Lemonade on the patio in front of the swamp cooler. HooRaa

Its been fun, but times have changed

Tuesday, June 28, 2011

Due to some unsettling changes with Brookdale the time to cut the apron strings has finaly arrived. Over the last few years I have met and interacted with some very unique personalites. From spunky Grandmothers to some younger ones with an amazing sense of fortitude.

Its been fun, but I haven't gone to the Big Cache in the sky, just moving on to some spark teams that share more of my interests and enjoyments.

I wish all of you success in what you partake in, and hope to catch you on the trails some day.
And as we say in gaelic: Slainte gus Saol Agat.

I'll miss you on the team but I know we will stay friends. Let me know how the job hunting is going. I really do care, you've been a great friend and inspiration to me.

Hugs, G-Ma

P.S. I just saw some of the teams you've joined. I think you'll really enjoy them!

Daily Jaunt

Thursday, January 27, 2011

Despite the fact that we had to move to town there is a blessing in disguise.
I can now walk to work 1.25 miles one way. So that is 2.50 miles a day.
And to make it just that much more fun I have loaded my cook knives and cookbook and other stuff into the old pack. So I get the added benefit of a 15 lb. load. After awhile I will probably increase the weight to around 25 lbs., just so I have the extra load to train for those hikes that I love.
For those of you out there that may be Geocachers I hiked Doc GC1HMFK on Tuesday and did over 8 miles etc. etc. etc. Awesome day in the dessert.

My hood walk, can you find the Sterling House.

Wow, walking to work. You are lucky to be able to do that. I've lived close enough to roller skate to work, but not walk. That was fun.
Have fun, and don't forget to play and plan on your favorite hikes. I am still using my treadmill and have started to add hills. Ugh, can be hard to do. But I do it. I haven't ventured outside like you do. Yea for you! emoticon

Just stopping by to say Merry Christmas to you and to the residents. I stopped in at Usery Park Wednesday. Nice walking there although didn't get to do much since I had my little dog with me. But there are Lots of trails to follow. I just wonder how difficult they are in general.
