Saying Goodbye

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

What's a good way to say goodbye? I have come to the conclusion that no goodbye will ever be easy, no matter how nice it would be. I have to say goodbye to someone very important to me today. Today is the last time I will see my boyfriend for about 2 months, when I will hopefully get to see him for an afternoon in Seville, Spain. After I won't see him in person until May. It will be a busy semester though so I should be distracted enough for this to work out just fine. We aren't concerned too much, our only worries is missing each other lots. We haven't been together for too long when you think about it. Well, 6.5 months is pretty good I think and I find that I have fallen in love with him. This gives me the hope that things will work out well!
One thing that we have both decided is that we will try and be in better shape for the other person when we see each other again. I am hoping to not so much to loose weight, I am at a healthy weight now, but I do want to become stronger and I want to get back into running shape as well.
According to the 2005 dietary guidelines, in order to maintain your current body weight, a person should exercise about 60 minutes a day. And 60-90 minutes a day for changing your body weight.
However, in more recent studies it is said that strength training should not be done more than 2 or 3 times per week, where as running or cardiovascular exercise should be 5 to 6 times a week. It is also recommended that for strength training, people should not work the same muscle group two days in a row due to risk of hurting your muscles.

What is a good way to say goodbye though? Any ideas?

Last Day/Next Summer?

Friday, July 29, 2011

Today is the last day of summer camp. This saddens me quite a bit! I won't see most of these kids or most of the volunteers for the next year at least. Also, I'm not sure if I will be coming back or not.

I may end up moving next summer! Moving to a different state for an internship or to work. I would move in with my current boyfriend which would make me very happy. We both are going to try and learn to cook healthier meals. Since he is a vegetarian and I am part-time vegetarian, then we are hoping to figure out how to live as vegetarians and to make the right food and try and see what it would be like not living with our parents, while working and possibly going to school. I shouldn't say that this is at all final because it is no where near that! But it is a possibility for next summer that would be kinda fun! Haha, it's funny cause I'm already planning next summer!

Zoo Day!!

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

Today is an exciting day for the summer camp I work at because it is Zoo day! Many of the kids have been looking forward to this field trip for as long as 2 or 3 weeks! The camp is only 4 weeks long... So this is a big and exciting day. It is also a day that is good for staying in shape because we walk around the zoo all day having to keep up with the kids. We are split up into smaller groups depending on what the kids want to see and I'm in a group with quite a few of the younger and more energetic kids so it will be a lot of fun I think!

Looking forward to this! After, depending on the weather, I think that I will probably not do much more in the way of exercise today just because we all tend to be tired after going to the zoo.

I would guess you're going to get plenty of exercise just keeping up with the young and energetic kids at the zoo! Have FUN!

First Time

Monday, July 25, 2011

Alright, so this will be my first blog entry on SparkPeople! My guess is that this will end up being a blog about exercising. It should be very good practice especially since I plan on being a personal trainer after college. Or at least attempting to go into that field! Exercise has always been of interest to me, and since I was an athlete up until the middle of my freshman year in college, I guess it's easy for me to say that I know somethings about exercising but not everything! I won't pretend to know everything, but it is good to share what you know and also to learn from what you have done.
I guess I should start with what I plan on doing today as far as exercise. Well, I work at a summer camp and today we are having a tropical party so I ill probably be running around at least a little bit with several of the kids. I also hope to look at the treadmill in the basement of my house and see if it can be repaired (it is currently not in working condition) and after go for a bike ride or run a little bit, just so that I can sleep well tonight!
I also have another blog. It's a self-proclaimed random blog without a true theme, but that's how it goes. So should you desire for a bit of whatever in your day: Swimming Birdies flyingfishiesandswimmingbirdies.blog

is open for whenever you want! :D
