busy day

Monday, February 20, 2012

Today I exercised before and after work, ran errands, got a haircut, cooked dinner, and chilled in front of the TV to watch Smash and The Daily Show. Now, I have to do a little food prep for the cooking/nutrition challenge that is part of the weight loss competition in which I am a participant. I will be making healthy delicious chicken fajitas (and a skinny margarita). After that I have to pack the gym bags for the morning. It looks like it is going to be a 5 hour sleep night. Bleh! However, busy is good and it usually keeps me on the straight and narrow!

Great job! I do a lot of early food prep and meal planning, too! I have found it to be a real lifesaver!

Reward--yes its more shoes

Sunday, February 19, 2012

...But this time it's 2 pairs of cross training sneakers instead of heels. I consider them well earned after day 50 of exercise streak and with my feet beginning to hurt because of insufficient/inappropriate foot gear. I know I will earn some callouses with training for the marathon but I rather not earn them for the wrong reasons. I'm hoping my new foot gear will protect me from all of that. I got 2 pairs of Asics gels for $106. I will also say that I was completely overwhelmed by the sporting goods store I went into to purchase them. I saw so many things that I 'need' for my workouts. Honestly I will need some things as the distance gets longer, running bras, running belts, wool socks, tech gear, id tags, reflective gear, etc. Anyway, next time I will shop with someone else who can support me in my overwhelm and also give me guidance on purchases.

Shoes! I love shoes! Always a great reward. I wear a size 5 and it's not always easy to find a comfortable stylish shoe for work or play.

I need to go buy a new pair of workout shoes myself. And I am like you, going into a sporting goods store makes me drool for the all the cool toys.

Time for a treat

Thursday, February 16, 2012

...for my feet. I've invested in 2 pairs of good running/walking shoes. As I do more cross-training, my feet are on fire. It's time to get some snazzy sneaks for Zumba, Cardio Sculpt, weight training, cycling, elliptical, and whatever other fabulous energizing activity I get into these days! I might also treat myself to that pair of roller skates I keep talking about.

Why is my scale so cruel?

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

I'm not completely out of touch with the realities of life. I'm not even complaining about an inability to loose weight. I sincerely think my scale has a mind of its own and it gets a jolly out of messing with me. I have been bouncing around a 3 pound range for almost 2 weeks now. I've been exercising like crazy, my nutrition is where it should be, but my monthly dues always seem to mess with the scale. Anyway on Sunday I was posting a 2nd day in a row where I was at the top of that 3 pound range. Normally I don't put too much emphasis on the scale but I'm in a weight loss competition and I need to post results from the scale. I decided not to weigh myself on Monday but I had a doctor's apppointment--I was 9 pounds lighter from the day before--of course I informed the doctor that her scale weighed on the light side. I did check out the scale on Tuesday and it reported a 6.5 pound loss. I was happy about this but figured that I just found a new bottom for a new 3 pound cycle. Much to my surprise, this morning I discovered I was down 9 pounds since Sunday.

To be clear, I am thrilled about the results! However, I don't believe I dropped 9 pounds in 3 days. They were normal exercise and nutrition days. Thus leading me back to my theory that my scale is cruel and sadistic and enjoys messing with my mind.
