Today has been a fine day. I honestly have no complaints about how it all went down. However in the middle of the night I woke up and rubbed my forehead...still quite groggy I recognized the beginnings of a giant pimple between my brows. I also felt itchy but it was much too early to do anything other than make one of my regular bathroom visits and go promptly back to sleep. After finally waking at a reasonable hour I discovered one spider bite on my hand, 3 mosquito bites on my arm, 1 enormous mosquito bite on my back and yes a zit that resembles a unicorn horn sprouting from my head. Unicorn in training aside...everything else points to the fact that all this nutritional eating has made me delicious!

4 track challenge

I think my Mississippi Sparker's team threw down with this challenge but I find it both exhilerating and um challenging. The goal is to earn 21 points within a week by eating within your range on carbs, fat, protein, and fiber. You give yourself a point for each of those categories per day. I've been regularly low on fats and wasn't paying significant attention to fiber. I had to incorporate 1.5 tbls of butter into my dinner on Monday to meet the goal. I ate my normal servings of fiber one, fruits and veggies, and whole grain deli rounds...over shot my fiber by 15 grams...opps! (althogh I don't think this is a bad thing every now and then. On Tuesday I was so ahead of the game with my healthy breakfast and lunch that I had room for a Chif-fil-A sandwich, med french fries, sm carrot and raisin salad, and a diet lemonade. Very enjoyable way to get my fat quota and satify a craving that was beckonong to me every Sunday for the past 4 weeks (Yeah it's all about the fact that they aren't open on Sundays...genius maketing technique to blame God for this). I think tonight there will be a little olive oil on my whole wheat pasta and mixed vegetables. I've been super aware of reading lables and making choices based on dietary needs (conquering this challange) and not cravings. This tracking has been really fun!

I woke up with a terrible pain in my neck. I know I did an oblique exercise wrong on Monday night and pulled a muscle in my neck. I decided to make Tuesday my rest day to heal--no morning walk/jog or after work classes. I came home after work, ate an early dinner and promptly passed out on sofa for 90 min. This was no ordinary nap, this was a "I'm exhausted and can't handle being awake anymore" kind of sleep. Perhaps it was less listening to my body and more of a you will stop and sleep for you have no other choice decision. Anyway I don't feel bad about a Tuesday off day and I'm looking forward to Aerobics and Body Sculpt tomorrow night.

7 pounds

7 pounds! Nope it's not a weight loss goal or how much I've lost already. It is what I lifted today during strength training. A month ago when I started the class and the instructor would tell us get heavy weights, most class members grab 8 or 10 lbs. During my 1st class I attempted the 8 and it only produced poor form and the inability to keep up with the reps. So I went with 5lbs for a few weeks then 6lbs...and today I went with 7 for the 1st time. Yeah! I am experiencing improvement. Also there is only one set of 7 lb weights...probably eight or more pairs of all the other increments...so for a little while I am ever so special with my bright orange 7 lb dumbbells. 8 lb November here I come.

So today is day 49 and although I do a bunch of things to earn spark points, I have been hesitant to blog. I did one private journal, but a public post seems tedious on many levels. I think it’s because I can be a bit of a perfectionist. I would want it to be just the right length, witty, poignant, clever…unobtainable standards so I never get to it. This is much like my past attempts at dieting. So I thought I’d go with the SP approach and start small and positive—a few sentences a day. That’s how I conquered the “comment on other’s blog.” I’m important enough to me to comment on myself! My October goal is to blog at least 5 times per week. Hopefully I’ll make some new SP friends who will check up on my progress regularly and read my appropriate lengthy witty poignant clever perfect blog. HA!

    No need to worry about writing the perfect blog posts. A lot of people blog mainly for themselves, and in the process end up helping out their readers. Just write, and the rest will fall into place. :)
