Planning Ahead for a Day Trip

Saturday, March 09, 2013

This weekend ends Spring Break for us. Today we plan to do one final day trip before settling back into our normal routine. It is so easy for me to "slide" on healthy habits when traveling. This time I'm planning ahead. These are my goals:

Get 60 minutes cardio and 10 minutes of stretching in BEFORE the trip.

Fill water bottle and take gallon jug of water for refills.

Cut up raw veggies and fruit to snack on in place of gas station junk.

Pack nutritious lunch.

Enjoy a healthy supper out, being mindful of portion control.

VERY GOOD PLANNING ! When i eat out i like cut my potato in 1/2 and eat 1/2 of my meat all my veggies and just the crust bottom off of a biscuit and fresh fruit for dessert or a scoop of vanilla ice cream if i have to have desert get a to go box and add a veggie to my leftovers eating the top of the roll left and giving my dogs the middle . I would rather go for a meal than sandwich but if i have sandwich i cut it in 1/2 take have home and eat a bowl of soup or side of veggie ! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND THANK YOU FOR BEING ON THE TEAM GOD ANSWERS PRAYER !

I too need to think outside the box when it comes to trips and other outings! It easy to make being away from home and out of your routine become an excuse!

End of the Blog Challenge

Friday, March 08, 2013

This is the last challenge day for blogging. Even though I did terrible this week in the food department, I blogged every day! That is a record for me. I think I will keep it up. There's something very satisfying about putting my thoughts down and getting feedback from my Spark Friends.

Blogging can be a great outlet. Sometimes I'll start blogging, or read someone else's blog, and gain clarity on an issue I've been struggling with, or an issue I hadn't even considered.
So we help not only ourselves but others when we blog.

Motivation or Advice?

Thursday, March 07, 2013

I enjoy reading health news, recipes, etc, but the thing that I really like about Spark People is all the encouragement that I am able to give and receive. Just knowing I don't have to go through things alone is a very good thing! Many times people have shared advice and what has worked for them. I've learned from that and truly appreciate the ideas I may not have thought of otherwise.

What I can do to Improve

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

Well, we arrived home from our trip this afternoon. I've unpacked, caught up with mail and laundry, and feeling tired. Almost supper time and just going to fix sandwiches. Probably will not exercise this late. So how will I improve?

Tomorrow is a new day. I will exercise first thing as I was doing before, track my water as usual AND (this is the new thing) track my food in earnest! I will not give into feelings of despair when I see what I have GAINED this week. I will set my face as a flint and move forward. I WILL NOT let a setback derail me from the ultimate goal.

Thank you all who have left encouraging comments on my blogs. You are helping me more than you know!

Traveling always places a kink in the best laid plans for eating or exercise. You are right to adopt the attitude that "tomorrow is a new day" and it sounds like a you have plan to get back on track! emoticon emoticon

I know that planning my meals and tracking my intake has been one of the most important parts of my weight control regime. The effort it takes can really pay off in great results! emoticon

Staying on Track

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

Haven't done as well today. Breakfast at my sister's was Krispy Kreme donuts! It's good I don't access to these where I live! Not only are they the BEST but I have childhood memories of once a year visits to my dear grandparents in south Georgia and stopping at the Krispy Kreme shop for chocolate glazed in Alabama. Guess that's the key to portion control...once a year!

I never saw the attraction of Krispy Kremes ... until someone explained and demonstrated the 'Hot Now' sign. Luckily I don't drive in that part of town very often.
