STOP DIAGNOSING YOURSELF!!!!! ok i am talking to myself here. i am just sick of the constant pain in my butt. the more and more i read about injuries and hip and butt pain i really don't think this is an overuse type injury. rest, ice, massage, ibprohoen, pt have not helped or provide very temp relief and this has been going on for months. i may have actually torn something? the more i read about butt muscles is that they don't heal on there own due to blood flow or something like that. the sad thing is a tear can only be diagnosed by an mri. here in canada unless it is life threatening or i pay for it i will have to wait months for an mri. gah! the only other sucky thing is that it requires surgery. the good news is you can chose to live with it. yipee! i will wait until my appt in october to see if they can help at all or figure out what is really going on. i am bored at work. can you tell????

how is everyone's long weekend going? the weather is miserable right now so i really don't mind being at work. it has cooled down so much. i wore pants and a hoody today. when ds and i went for a walk earlier we got caught in some heavy rain/hail and i just laughed as ds son yelled "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!" as he ran past other people on the dyke. i don't know where he gets his over dramatic side from lol????? tomorrow the weather is supposed to be junk again and ds keeps wanting to watch star wars so i may go rent it for him.

HAHAHAH RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!!!! I've read so much about running injuries everytime I feel a tiny twinge of ANYTHING a part of me goes - OH IS THAT PLANTAR FASCIITIS??? PIRIFORMITIS??? BURSITIS??? and so on and so forth. And then I go, relax. You're ok.

I self diagnose all the time too. Sometimes I think the internet is bad for that since it keeps us from going to the doctor right away. That really sucks that you haven't been able to find any relief from your injury. I hope that your appointment in October will be able to give you the answers you need to fix this.

It's freezing here too. I'm trying hard to resist the urge to turn my furnace on. Kids say the funniest things. They're like little comedians.

I have the PITA thing, too--- well, hip/butt/hamstring... and I know my hamstring is pulled, but unless i completely stay off of it for an infinite amount of time, it probably won't heal... yep, it heals very slow... I never thought about an actual tear--- if it was a FULL tear, you probably couldn't walk and you'd need surgery! or so I've been told...
I'm going to do PT and I do think that the foam roller helps! Deep tissue message, too. For me, it's definitely an alignment problem and focusing on the culprit might be more beneficial, because even if you heal it, you'll be more prone to get it back, if you don't find the underlying cause!
So, keep pushing the Dr--- just so you know, they won't send me for a MRI for something like that either! ( cost saving strategies suck!) Anyways, good luck girl!

I hope you figure out what it is and how to fix it. I was online trying to diagnose myself too. The IT Band is just a symptom. I thought maybe there's a name for whatever's wrong with me. I was able to run today, though my left leg hurt rather than my right this time.

That stinks about your butt injury! How much are MRIs? Maybe you should pay for it to find out? Hopefully your appt will have some more information for you.

That is pretty funny about "run for your life!" too cute!

Sorry to hear about you butt. I really hope your pain subsides soon, it really puts a damper on things doesn't it? I get all down on myself for not being about to just push through the pain to run, but now I've decided that I will walk if I cannot run! Especailly since I am registered for that Half Ironman and I really want to participate in SOME way.

DS is a little crack up! were you just like that when you were a kid? How fun for your mom!

OMG we're almost in the same place...I'm a pain in the neck, You're a pain in the ass! Sorry about the easy joke, but I have the same thing going on in my neck and it was radiating down my shoulder, elbow, wrist and included the knuckles as well. I got it July 10 - just woke up with it and I've been dealing ever since. Same deal PT, rest, ice...I finally just this past week picked up exercise, and my PT person kinda implied the same thing, that I may have to just live with it. SUCKS...and I did have an MRI...it's a pinched nerve. Who knows. I will follow up with the orthopedic and wait, and wait, and ice and rest, and pop freaking ibuprofen until i puke!

Please keep me up to date on your progress
warm regards from the pain in the neck!

boy was i wrong

Friday, September 04, 2009

yesterday i had such an awful food day in error. i had a light breakfast because i knew dh and i were meeting people for lunch. before we went i was a good girl and checked the website of the restaurant and picked what i thought was a somewhat healthy meal. i thought the grilled chicken sandwich i was going to order had 350 calories. when i got home and i was going to add it to the food tracker i read it wrong. the sandwich actually weighed 350 grams and it was 750 calories plus i ate fries!!!! hmmm that meant i had like a 100 calories for dinner. sorry but that wasn't going to happen. so much for a clean start. later i made dinner for ds and myself. it looked really good. a lazy skillet lasagna full of healthy stuff. when i started to eat it though i thought it tasted gross but didn't say anything. a few moments later hayden said "sorry mom but this is gross!" we both then ate a bagel and some popcorn.

had a pretty good exercise day. franco got 2 walks and i did day 1 of mtc again. not sure if i am going to run today or do mtc day 2. i may run as the weather is supposed to turn to rain tomorrow. however, i haven't ran in the rain in a long time so that could be fun.

i am having a hard time adjusting to "lose" mode again. it has been so long since i have done that. i know i can cause i have done it before. i also suck at push ups. i used to be able to do close grip push ups from my toes. now i can barely do 5 from my knees. i know it will come back though. i will make it!!!!!!

i should go eat some breakfast. only coffee in the belly so far. i am proud though i made my own coffee at home before i went to work. my coffee maker doesn't have a timer on it. so last night i plugged it into one of those timers that you can plug lamps into to turn then on and off when you are not home. worked like a charm. maybe santa will bring me a more fancy coffee maker for xmas?

have a great day everyone.

Oh, I really hope Santa delivers on that coffee maker! I'd die without mine, getting up and it's all ready.

Push Ups suck. I do them, but they suck. They're hard.

and how sweet-"sorry mom"? I know I never said that...just the "this is gross" part. lol.

anyway, good luck with the push-ups. Sounds like you'll be right on track with the food thing, too - one chicken sandwich glitch can't hurt too much.

Thank God Hayden saved you from your lasagna! Hahahaha! Aren't kids awesome!
It is such a let down when you think you are eating right and then you find out you blew it when you totally were expecting to be ON track :( Bummer!
Yay for making the cut! I know you will be back on your toes soon, I am right there with ya! Can't do a push up to save my own life! Hahahaha!

Don't you love how kids will say exactly what they are thinking? I'm impressed you got the "sorry mom" qualifier. What was wrong with it?

Going into lose mode when you have gotten used to maintenance mode sucks! I am right there with you. I kind of want to lose another 3 pounds and I feel like my body would probably let go of it since it has gotten so comfy at this weight - but then I ate pizza last night. Yeah. So I hear you, it is really tough. Keep us updated on how it is going, hopefully you will inspire me to clean it up!

    BUNNY!

I got unsubscribed. GAH. I'm so sorry.

So, I love that H was so polite in his analysis of dinner. HA.

I've misread those nutrition guides before too. Flush yourself with water today!

That is GENIUS that you plugged the coffee maker into a light timer. Very impressive.

In a few short MTC workouts you'll be rocking those pushups again!!!

I hate it when you think you were OK with what you ordered and then realized the truth after it was consumed! Anyway, the key here is to realize it's just one day and really does not make much difference in the whole scheme of things... back on track today and no damage is done! Have a great day!

OHH I feel for you - had days like that myself! but that is just one day and it is gone and won't come back - start over again and you will be awesome! PUSH UPS! OMG I was like you and could barely do 1 but now I am doing a 100 push up program and was able to do 107 on monday! all military style! so yes you can do it! just take your time and it will happen and you will love your arms when you are done! my "bat wings" are about gone now! that is so exciting in itself! haha have a super day! and thanks for sharing.

I can't tell you how glad I am to hear that I'm not the only one who has completely lost all pushups abilities... HAHAHA Sorry!!!!!!! I sympathize!!!!! Anyway -- I definitely relate to reading the thing wrong. I can't tell you how many times I've been looking at stuff and then gone OH WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S GRAMS, NOT CALORIES. How lame for them to put that over where the calories should be... BOO.
