Today I managed to walk for 41 minutes outdoors with my dog. I walk at a 3mph pace so that was about 2 miles. It was such a perfect day. It was sunny and 68F with a slight breeze. I had set out to do 20 minutes, but it was so nice out that I decided to go ahead and do 30 minutes, but then it was still so nice and I felt I could do more and the audiobook I was listening to was interesting (Purity in Death by J.D. Robb aka Nora Roberts) and next I knew it was 41 minutes and time to think about cooking dinner!

I also managed to do the Day 5 video of the January Jumps Start Challenge, which was a Pilates workout for Hips and Thighs. I think I will be feeling that one in my right leg tomorrow even though I've done extra stretching to try to avoid soreness.

Not only that but I had gone shopping today as well after getting my allergy shot. So now I am over 10,000 steps for the day for the first time in over a month!

I managed to stay within my calorie and exceeded my water consumption goal.

It's been a great day!

Oh and I made a decision. I weight myself every day first thing in the morning, and I keep track of it, so I can see the nice decline over time. I have been doing this since June 1, 2011 with only a few days missed in between so the line is pretty cool to see. I have been updating my weight on Spark about weekly, sometimes bi-weekly if there was a gain or only a very minor loss. My decision is to only update my weight monthly on Spark so I can see how I did each month. I figure that will be more satisfying than much smaller increments. I can do that at the same time as I put in my measurements.

I want to start putting in a blog much more often, preferably daily to help keep me focused and on track. I found myself withdrawing from SparkPeople and losing motivation and falling back into tired old ruts I don't want to return to. So to avoid that going forward, I *KNOW* that I must have accountability.

Since my last blog on 1-1-12 I have tracked my food daily, drank my water and exercised daily. I have been reading, planning dinners out to cook and been getting caught up on some house work. So I am feeling quite Sparkalicious! =)

I tried to to only blog for something "newsworthy" but I think I need to be more involved and accountable so it is not so easy for me to just kind slink away into over indulging and being lazy.

2011 was pretty successful for me. I managed to finish the year off weighing in at 229 lbs. That put me at a total loss of 26 lbs. for the year, which I didn't begin trying until June. Yay!

I have been able to wear some of my older clothing that I'd outgrown. My 24s are definitely too big for me. I am most comfortable in a size 20 now, but apparently I didn't spend much time there in the past because I have very few items that are in that size, but that is okay. I do not intend to remain this size long so I will just wear clothing that is a little bit too big for me until I can fit back into size 16s which I have lots of.

December was a very challenging month for me. It's my birthday month, and we had many parties to attend and did a lot of eating out. I am utterly amazed that I managed to maintain my weight for the entire month. Sure a loss would have been nice, but to be able to maintain with all that indulging is remarkable to me and gives me great hope in being able to maintain my lifestyle once I achieve my goal weight.

I am very excited to begin this new year. I don't normally make any new year's resolutions or tend to even set any new goals or anything, but I am going to this year, since my goal setting has been working out rather well for me.

In 2012 I would like to...

1) Lose 50 pounds. This seems realistic based on my current results
2) Be able to fit into a size 16, or smaller again.
3) Keep up with my food tracking daily. This seems to be crucial for me.
4) Exercise daily, even if it's only a brief amount. No excuses!
5) Read through my One Year Daily Bible and attend church as often as possible
6) Continue exceeding water drinking goals daily
7) Complete the Bucs blanket I began 2 years ago to give to my brother.
8) Complete my doggy cross stitch project
9) Read 75 books from my current favorite authors as well as classics and new authors
10) Keep my home clean and organized
11) Try a new healthy dinner recipe once a month
12) Get my planters weeded and kept weed free

These goals should give me a nice plan of action to get my life into the order I wish it to be in. I want to be healthy, both physically and spiritually and keep a nice balance to everything. I also would like my successes to be an encouragement and motivation for my loved ones =)

Great job on losing 26 pounds in 2011! I too finished out the holidays holding my weight (and agree with you that a loss would have been nice...) but I was pleased to hold steady.

I can identify with some of your 2012 goals too! Keep up the good work!

I lost a pant size!!!!!!

Sunday, September 11, 2011

I decided to try on a pair of 22 slacks that I haven't been able to button up for about 2 years. They fit me nicely! They aren't too tight, they are comfortable! So I've gone from a 24 to a 22 in pants =) Also the 1x top that I am wearing is comfortable. The buttons don't look stressed out across my chest and the sleeves don't feel like they are going to rip apart at the seams.

Oh it's a happy day! I have breathing room in my clothes!

It's so much nicer to put clothes on that fit and are comfortable and loose rather than trying to squeeze into clothes I've out grown for a change =)

Soon my lovely 16 and 14 jeans, I will grace you with my presence!

Way to go! It is a nice feeling.

Pooks, it's that avocado shape I'm thinking. I always weigh more than people think I weigh, and wear larger sized clothing than most people at my weight. But I'm very proportional and am totally okay with that. I really can hardly wait to get back into my 14s and 16s. I've probably got another 20-30 lbs. to go before I can do the 16s and I know I need to be around 180 for the 14s. Some day I may even see a 10 or 12 again like I did before my son was born. It seems I can wear skirts & dresses smaller than pants or jeans. Got big legs =) I think it was from years of playing catcher for fast pitch softball heh. Happy I am starting to see some muscle tone in my legs. I've always rather liked my shapely and strong legs. Yea, I used to be quite vain :P

That is so wonderful! And can I tell you something? I'm glad to meet someone else who seems to be shaped the same way I am! I hear of all these people fitting easily into size 18 and 16 at 230-240 lbs and I'm wondering how the heck that's possible!! I was fitting into 22s comfortably around that time, and here around 200 I'm finally starting to fit into an occasional 16 depending on the brand. :D So I'm glad I'm not alone!!

You look great!

September 9, 2011

Friday, September 09, 2011

I just completed my 3rd day of my 1st week of walking a 5k training program. I walked 1.5 miles with my dog in 30 minutes. I could have gone faster, but it is garbage day and she gets spooked by garbage cans so I have to tug her along more than usual. Silly dog.

I weighed in at 239.0 today. That makes 3 days in a row of the 230s. I'm very excited about that. It's been 2 years since I was in the 230s. I really would like to be under 235 by the end of the month.

I haven't worked on my blanket project in 2 days. I've been spending my free time reading and playing World of Warcraft with my husband. We needed some time together, so I don't feel bad about putting my project off for a few days =)

Well I need to get ready to go to the grocery store. I just wanted to post an updated blog and take a little break after my walk.

Have a wonderful weekend!

God bless,
~Barb

PS... The weather was perfect for walking this morning. It was cool, but not too cool for shorts and tank top =)

Thanks guys. I got the pattern on Ebay, it's actually a cross stitch chart.

It's much easier than it looks. It's all single crochet stitches. If you can SC and color change, you could do it =)
