More Puppy Walking

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

I took my puppy, Sara for another walk this morning. We went a little further today and kept up a much brisker pace. She's getting the hang of it real quickly. She's so smart and such a good girl. She never tried to pull ahead and only required slight tug when she lingered too long to sniff a spot. If she'd start to walk a little faster than me she'd slow right down and wait for me. It's only a 6' leash so there's not much leeway for her. I want her to walk right with me. When she came across something she wasn't sure of she'd walk right up against my leg and look at me. Her tail even wagged today. Yesterday she kept it tucked mostly between her legs. Oh she was so excited to go out this morning that she pushed the screen door open herself lol. We walked for about 25 minutes, possibly longer. I didn't look at the time until we were already down the street.

I also did a 1 mile walk with Leslie using hand weights. I was sweating and my arms were tired, but I really think I could have done more. Tomorrow I will try the 2 mile brisk walk, worst case I stop after 20 minutes if I can't make it to the end, but I definitely feel like I need to do more than the 1 mile. YAY!

I'm already up to a little over 6,000 steps for the day and it's only 3pm so I know I will pass my goal again of 7,000 steps per day. That gives me a FULL week of 7k+ steps!

Just a small note. I haven't had any more weight come off yet, only 1 lbs, however, when I flex my leg muscles... I CAN SEE THEM! Instead of it just being all flabby and fat I can see some muscle definition and it feels rock hard. Woot!

It really is a lot more fun to walk with a dog than by myself. I have a 10 year old dog, but he was so severely abused before we got him. He has a lot of mental issues. We've tried everything to get him used to walking with us, but he just can't deal with the stress and goes crazy and has to be carried =(

Isn't it fun to walk with a dog. I have 2 GS puppies that are 8 months old. They are getting real good at heal. Such fun.

Feeling Good Today!

Monday, July 25, 2011

For the first time since I got my puppy in November 2010 I actually took her for a walk on the leash around the neighborhood. Normally we just let her run around the backyard with our older doggy and play fetch with her. Since it was a whole new experience with her she kept a nice slow pace with me. I'm looking forward to picking up our pace and distance as we both get used to it together. It was nice. I love my puppy so much and getting to bond with her was great. Plus I got to meet some of my neighbors and got several compliments on what a pretty dog she is.

I managed to get my 20 minute Leslie work out done too. And I did my Daily Bible reading. Oh and I even managed to do my housework goals, which I sometimes tend to put off because I just don't feel like doing it.

It really is an awesome feeling to get stuff done rather than beat myself up about it when I don't.

I've also been pretty active on the forums. I LOVE welcoming new people on teams and reading their stories and sharing my own.

God bless you all!

I plan to log in every morning, first thing to catch up on any new posts, mails and articles. At this time I will update my measurements and put in my final step count for the previous day.

I also plan to check in throughout the day to keep my water and nutrition tracking up-to-date and fitness.

As of 4:15pm I have completed my 20 minute work out. I have had 9 glasses of water (3x 24oz bottles of water actually) and have 5,284 steps. I will listen to music while I cook dinner and work on adding in some more steps then as well. Should be able to reach all of my goals =)

Exercise

Friday, July 22, 2011

My 20 minutes of low impact aerobic exercise is accomplished and by 10am, woot! I did Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home DVD. Warm up and then a Tummy focus mile.

I have to run some errands today so I am hopeful that I will be able to easily reach and/or exceed my goal of 7,000 steps. To help I will be sure to park further way from the entrances than I normally do, even if it's raining I have my umbrella in the car =)

I purchased The Spark today for my Nook. It was only $1.99 so I figured why not?!

My goal is to reach and maintain 175 lbs. It would still leave me considered over weight, but due to my build and past experience I am very pleased with myself at about that weight. If I happen to lose more than that would be fine, but 175 is a nice, realistic goal.

My first goal is to lose 15-20 pounds before November 1, 2011 and be up to 10,000 steps minimum per day.

Awesome V. How long did it take you to lose the 22.4 lbs so far? I actually started working on being more active at the beginning of June, about 45 days. I have lost 5 lbs, but none so far this month. I did take a vacation to visit family though and ate like a pig and skipped some of my work outs. Now I am back on track =)

On a side note my plan worked and am already up to 7,900 steps. I am going to really make an effort to hit 10,000 today. That would be the first time I hit 10k steps in a day since a trip to an amusement park in June!
