Trim Trickery

Hi, So I'm not so into math, but thanks to google now its easier to implement some trim tricks when it comes to counting calories...

Here's a just a couple I've been working with lately:

BUTTER
How about just a teaspoon instead of a whole tablespoon?
1 TBSP = 100 Calories
1 tsp (.33 TBS) = 33 Calories

Yay! Save 67 calories right there.

QUINOA (Dry)
Sometimes just a little is enough..
12 tsp/4 TBSP/.025 Cup = 160 Calories
3 tsp/1 TBSP/0.0625 Cup = 40 Calories
Yay! Love that texture, I just don't need to stuff myself with it!

Word..now I've got more calories available so I can eat or drink more of what I really want!

Truly though, all these measurements and mathematics tend to get me silly dizzy sometimes and really I have to take some time off from all this math, so when I'm on to it I do dig in & do my home work.. I'm hoping to get this all memorized so its subconsciously automatic someday..

I've also found these helpful when recording portion sizes in the tracker:

1 Tablespoon = 3 Teaspoons
1 oz = 29 grams
3 oz = 85 grams

1/2 = 0.5
1/3 = 0.3
2/3†= 0.6
1/4 = 0.25
3/4 = 0.75

I'd like to update & add more trim trickery to this post..

    Good stuff. Sometimes I just shave a tenth cup off a measurement to save 10% of the calories in an item.

Vegan Egg Alternatives

in my quest to perhaps become fully vegan I came across some quick alternatives for Egg.

For the Light & Fluffy effect use these to replace 1 egg:

1. Baking Soda & Warm water, 2 TBSP each.
2. Baking Powder & Vinegar, 1 tsp each
3. Baker's yeast 1 tsp dissolved in 1/4 Cup warm water
4. Ground Flaxseed 1 TBSP with 3 TBSP water

For the Dense & Thick Binding effect to replace 1 egg:

1. Cornstarch & Water, 2 TBSP each
2. Instant mashed potato, 2 TBSP

These are the ones I'd most like have on hand & use. I'm sure there are others, do share if you have them please!

    That is really interesting. I knew the flaxseed one, but that was it. Iíll have to save these somewhere. Iím not a vegan nor is anyone I would be preparing food for, but itís always handy to know substitutions like that. Thanks for posting the info!

    Thank you MEOWMEOWGIRL for your contribution about vegan buttermilk.. emoticon and MISHAMW I am very interested to know why you (or any other ex-vegans) are no longer vegan.. what changed your mind? Also, if you are NOT vegan, what prevents you from choosing to be vegan?

For me, cheese & butter.. eggs, cottage cheese..yogurt... emoticon

    Though I am not longer vegan, Enger-g made an egg replacement for baking that is basically a little bit baking powder, baking soda, and cornstarch that you mixed in warm water.

Applesauce is good for binding in thick dishes too.

But remember if you are converting a favorite recipe to vegan, you need to add a little bit of fat to replace the egg as well. Coconut oil works well!

As the Fat Burns E-Motion Moves = Anger

Louise Hay in her book "You Can Heal Your Life," includes affirmations for various physical Dis-Eased areas in the Body and among them are some probable causes and affirmations for Fat stores. There's one for belly fat, thigh fat, overall fat..this and that.. in essence, Anger has a lot to do with the reason why fat gets stored in the first place, and refuses to budge.

Dealing with the source of likely unconscious anger is an inside out approach that can run in tangent with outside efforts and manifest permanent transformation.
