I'm on the last notch to tighten my belt! And my pants are still a little loose! emoticon No matter what the scale says, I have to be losing something, right? emoticon

Down a pant size?

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Well , went to a local thrift store with a friend today. emoticon and found a couple cute tops emoticon and a Snoopy figurine emoticon . I also found a pair of nice jeans-size 16 emoticon and I wear a size 18...or do I? I decided, "What the heck. Let's see if the new diet is working." so I tried them on. They fit!! they fit perfectly except being a tad long( but that is true of any pants since I'm short.) emoticon I fully realize that there is a lack of consensus among labels about size and that I might not fit into a "16" of another brand, but a victory is a victory, right? I'll take any little victories I can get. emoticon
Celebrate all your victories my Sparkfriends! emoticon

emoticon emoticon I have been doing ALL my shopping at the thrift store. I refuse to buy anything new until i reach my goal. I am only able to wear the clothes for a few months anyway & then I pass them on to my church's clothing ministry or the Goodwill.

Success!!

Sunday, January 13, 2013

Well, Today was weigh in day. I was a little apprehensive about getting on the scale(even though my pants are a little loose)but as you can guess from the title, it went well. emoticon I lost....6lbs!! Woot woot! emoticon I know actually weigh 5 lbs less than when I got married almost 20 years ago! emoticon My husband lost 12 lbs! He gets a little more exercise than I do. He is the Schwan's guy for our area and walks about 25 miles a week! emoticon I plan to ramp up the exercise my self this week. emoticon Today is our carb day. Every 7th day you can eat all the carbs you want! After church I went to McDonald's with some friends and had a 1/4 pounder with cheese and fries(large of course) emoticon It was good, but I got overfull! My tummy isn't use to eating that way anymore which isn't a bad thing.
I'm learning so much on this journey, like how to cook! emoticon Seriously, before I was using a lot of meal kits and microwave foods which are full of refined sugars and are so processed. It is so much healthier to eat actual food. We're eating a lot more chicken,(well, I always did )fish, and fresh vegetables(and yes, some frozen.) I am learning you don't have to have a rice or pasta side dish with every meal emoticon We have 5 weeks left on this plan but I know some changes I will be making permanent.
Well, what ever plan/lifestyle your are doing, hang in there and make 2013 your year! emoticon emoticon

An oops and a new start.

Thursday, January 10, 2013

Well, this low-carb thing has been going pretty well. emoticon Though I miss my Orville Redenbacher Smartpop(24 carbs) and last night I had a little oops. We can eat veggies all we want so I'm always looking for good ways to prepare them. I had some butter nut squash so I looked online for ways to prepare it and found a wonderful recipe with brown sugar emoticon Big mistake as you may have guessed since brown sugar(alone!) has like 54 carbs emoticon it was delicious, but it will be a while before I fix that again. emoticon
Well, today is a new day and I get a fresh start. emoticon The proof will be in the pudding(low fat,of course) when I weigh on Sunday. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. Does that make sense?
Anyway, one day at a time. Make the most of today! emoticon

It's funny I have gotten where I used to always make my butternut and acorn squash with brown sugar, now I put nothing. A bit of salt and pepper if even that and it's wonderful. We forget what foods taste like on their own. Try it - you may be surprised.
Good luck. I'll be anxious to hear how you do.
I could never do low-carb dieting so good for you!!!

Hubby's a SparkMember!!

Monday, January 07, 2013

Well, my husband has joined sparkpeople! emoticon His username is chubbytony1(isn't that cute!), but he doesn't really have time for a lot of bloging or posting or things like that. He mainly wants the tracking tools, recipes and nutrition and excercise tips. His company (Schwan's- a food company emoticon )has signed up the employees for a radio station weight loss challenge.
We are starting a low a low carb diet today that we will try for 6 weeks. I really hope it can jump start some weight loss as I'm on a plateau right now( 2 weeks emoticon )
I'm also going to look into taking a Zumba class at a local elementary school. emoticon
Here's to a healthier, fitter coming year for all! emoticon

Too cool!! My hubby signed up over the weekend, but he said it was just to subscribe to my blogs (he hasn't made a SparkPage yet). I hope he does the program with me. That would be fun!!

You'll have so much more success doing it together. Maybe get a little friendly competition going. emoticon

It is great to have a partner to share your journey with. The weight will come off faster.
I attend a few classes a week. I mix them up, but zumba is my favorite. LOVE IT!!!
