I work out at the local hospital fitness center. There are mostly elderly people there trying to keep their bodies in motion and there are many rehab patients as well. I have seen all sorts of people. During lunch time the employees will stop in to get their strength training or cardio. With all these people there working out my sister and I stand out among them. We are the only ones that are sweating like pigs. More than one person will always comment on what a good workout we are getting.

I can tell a difference in my workouts. They are very intense (for me). Unless I sweat I feel like I haven't accomplished much. I found the elliptical and nearly died the first time on it and I only did 5 minutes. A few days later I tried it again and I noticed it wasn't as bad as the first time. Then I noticed how many calories I could burn in a 50 min. workout on the Elliptical. That drew me in right away. I head to the elliptical as soon as we get in the Center. If they are all in use I will go to something else but my heart isn't in it. As soon as one is available I almost run to it. Now that is disgusting. What have I become! I love it!

    Isn't it great when we find an exercise we love? I know they say to mix it up, but I figure that at least I've found something that I like to do and I'm doing it consistently. Keep sweating!

    I absolutely hate to sweat anywhere except the gym I love it, it reminds how much I am doing for me. I agree on the elliptical as well I used to go on just the treadmill because I was afraid of the elliptical but once I got on it I love the calories I can burn.

    Susie - I am right there with you on the elliptical. We bought ours a year ago, and I have just started using it. At first I didn't like it (it made my legs hurt quickly) and gave up on it I guess, and started doing other things like walking. (I even tried to sell it but had no takers, thank goodness, right?) Well, just about 2 weeks ago I decided to try it again, it still hurt quickly but when I saw how many calories I burned in those little ole 8 minutes the first night, I decided to stay with it. I made it 15 minutes last night and burned more calories than I do in a 30 minute walk! The elliptical is now my cardio of choice!

I am tired today. I didn't do any cardio or strength training today however I did it 5 days this past week. It's so gray and dreary out I think that is affecting me. Other than that Life is good. I do not need any do overs today!

Resolution = Resolute?

I saw the Blog prompt and ewwww! New Year's resolutions! Yuck! So I guess you know how I feel about New Year's resolutions. They never ever worked for me and never will. I am realistic enough to know my limitations.

Very early in 2009 I took part in a workshop through one of my Teams. I learned how to set goals. What a relief it was, I no longer had to make resolutions that I knew I couldn't keep but I could sit down and decide what I wanted to accomplish during the upcoming year.

So it is easier for me to be resolute if I have a plan to follow. Now I need to work up my new plan for the coming year. I am going to make my goal weight in 2010!

    You keep going Susie!! I won't make my goal weight in 2010 but I WILL continue on the downward trend. I've been thinking I need to pull those goals out and relook and retool a bit. I've kinda lost track of 'em.

I can't believe another year has zipped by! Iwas very diligent last year at this time. I did not want to have a gain during the holidays. I managed to even loss a few pounds. We have planned to have a healthified meal. Getting rid of some extra unhealthy calories and fats but I know it is still going to tempt me! I am trying to eat at the lower end of my calorie range to adjust for some of the extra calories I will eat. That is so hard for me now. I look at my report and try to get all my nutrients in the good range. Well if something isn't in that range I try to adjust and usually that adds calories. I think I am turning into obsessive on this point. Maybe for a few days I need to drop some of those nutrients off the radar range and just concentrate on calories!'s the plan:
1. I WILL eat at the lower end of my calorie range.
2. I WILL exercise each and every day. Even if I get just 30 min. a day it will be something!
3. I WILL not tempt Becky or anyone else with food or desserts!
4. I WILL drink all of my water.

Thanksgiving Day!

1. I WILL be AWARE of what I eat ALL day long!
2. I WILL eat breakfast!
3. I will not graze!
4. I WANT to break into onederville before the new year. This will get me there!

The year is winding down. I am looking at my goals for this year and I am 4 pounds away from reaching that weight goal. I do not believe I am at a plateau. I feel like I am not giving it my all to get there! I have the answers at the tips of my fingers, toes, lips and brain! Talking with Thoms1 has helped put things back into perspective. We both want to reach our goals and must recommit ourselves on a daily basis if need be.

I went to my primary care doctor for a follow up visit, I asked what I had weighed at the last visit and discovered I lost 8 pounds in two months. It doesn't sound like a big number but those ounces are popping back up. This week I lost 2 ounces and was happy about it. What has me a bit worried though is on Team 300 lbs. Plus I pledged to lose 10 lbs. by Dec 25th. I will give money to the Food Pantry regardless but I felt chintzy in only pledging 5 lbs. so I said 10. I will give it a run for the money!

I am confident I will begin to lose more than 2 oz. at a time. Sometimes exercise and portion control are the answer!

    Susie...I have been stuck and fluctuating as well. I have had consistent losses but November a big goose egg so far. I have been eating more that I should though....I am with you on RECOMMITTING to my long term goal today.
