Kindergarten Grad among other things

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

I cannot believe my oldest- Christopher graduated from Kindergarten yesterday! Nad he is goinjg to be 6 on Monday. When did that happen? When I was a kid you didn't graduate from Kindergarten, you had grade 12 and that was it! Where has the time gone? So he will be in grade 1 in September and my daughter Zoe will be in early entry in September as well. So theres's another question, what the heck am I going to do for childcare? For the last 2 years I haven't had to worry. We have had a fabulous nanny and I didn't have to worry about schedules or anything else. Now that my son is is school in September fulltime (M-TH 8am- 3pm, and F 8am- 1150am) and my daughter is in school parttime (M-TH 8am-1150am) it doesn't seem feasible to spend huge amounts of money on a nanny when I could find childcare for afterschool...the problem is finding it! There is a reason why there are so many stay at home moms in Fort McMurray--> the childcare is so expensive and there isn't a whole lot of options out there for people looking for childcare- especially part-time! Eek help! emoticon

If we lived in the same area of FMM I would have babysat for you. My son starts early entry next fall to, I don't know how I'm going to handle that.
Check with the secretaries at the school they may know of a SAHM that wants to baby sit, thats usually how I found the kids I looked after. I hope you find a great sitter,

The kindergarten grad title caught my eye! My son has his "graduation" tomorrow - they are doing a cap and gown ceremony - it will make for some great pics!

Childcare is always difficult - I wish you lots of luck researching options.

Results

Friday, June 04, 2010

So I went to the doctor a couple weeks ago to get my yearly and he sent me in for bloodwork. So the results came back and he called me to get the results. I went in this morning at the ungodly hour of 7am. Apparently I have a cholesterol ratio of 6:3, a normal level is 5:3. So in other words I have high cholesterol. Gakk. I can deal with this. I will have to research to see what it takes to level cholesterol. And then he goes into my weight and how he referred me to the dietician. They are recommending that I complete a year program where u consume 4 shakes a day for a total of 900 calories a day to lose weight. I think it' s just not for me. I need substance! So my doctor was going into lap bands- which is about $17000.00 but you can get them in Mexico for $7000.00 what a deal! I told him that's not for me. I want to do it the natural way. Why can't he understand that? Grrr I don't want a quick fix. I want to be able to say I did it by myself without an aid from any pills or medical intervention!
On a happy note, I found a skirt in the back of my closet and I love it! I feels summery! Here's to a fabulous weekend!!

I wonder if you have the same Dr as my niece????? She was sent to the dietician to and they wanted her to do the shakes or the lap band but she declined to. Seriously what dr or dietician would recommend a shake or surgery over learning how to eat right??? It's all about making $$ it seems :(
I'm very proud of you for wanting to do it the right way with proper diet and nutrition emoticon

I agree with Amber, it sounds like maybe this doctor isn't for you either. I know alot of people who would love to have a doctor reccommend a quick fix, but I am right there with you, natural is the way to go!

I could see maybe doing some kind of quick fix for a quick amount of time, just to shock your body into weightloss, but a year on shakes? NO WAY!

I totally get ya on wanting to be able to say you did it on your own. Feels accomplishing (not really a word, but it is now). Personally, I feel like when I see someone who has lost a tremendous amount of weight, and I ask how they did it, and they respond with some kind of surgery, I feel like they cheated. They really didn't do it on their own...

WAY TO GO in turning down the quickies and keeping to it on doing it on your own! WOO HOO!! And feeling all summery while you are at it! YAY!

Are you sure this doctor is the right one for you? It's not often that doctors discourage you from going au-naturel healthy. I'm not getting anywhere myself and I've been at it for 6 months. I've decided to start taking fat burners and maintain my healthy eating and excercise lifestyle. Hopefully it will give me a jump start but still help me to live a clean lifestyle and give me the satisfaction of doing it on my own. Otheriwse green is lean lol Best of luck, keep up the good work and don't let silly doctors take away your motivation!

Damn Car 46

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Well on my way to work last Wednesday I dropped my son off at school. I then proceeded to drive myself to work. I was at the stoplight when my gaslight went on telling me to fill up. I was right beside Shell @ Beaconhill. It was stupid busy and figured I'd go to Esso across the way . Well that didn't happen. A minute later my engine light went on, then started to blink. The car shuddered and died. Oh no! With all the school/work traffice right on Beaconhill Drive this sucked! Mind I mention that my car is a 2006 VW Passat. This is NOT supposed to happen to me! (The van died twice on me this past winter too. Once from the power steering hose breaking, and the other the alternator dies while I was driving with the kids by myself). So I put my hazard lights on. Mind you I am battling the tears, obviously I'm going to be late for work! Arg!!
So I call my husband to come rescue me. He said he's going to be a few minutes. So these nice 2 men prob late 40s come and rescue me! Yeah there is nice people in Fort McMurray! So I put the car in neutral, and they are pushing me up the slight hill to push me over to the side street by Shell. And I wait for my husband. Mind you does anyone know how hard it is to steer a car in neutral? LOL Holy crow its hard! So my husband comes and by now I am absolutely frezing. It was -5 that morning. So we call VW Roadside assistance, seems that it expired last year. So now, I call AMA up to tow us. They said it would be an hour, well it actually took close to 3 hours to show up. Got it downtown to a shop that we know what will work on a VW. They hook it up. Looks like the gasket leaked into the spark plugs which fried the coil emissions (which were replaced 2 months ago!) so..its still at the shop I get my husband to drop me off to work every day. We got an estimate to get it fixed. If done in town will be 3 grand +. If we get it towed to Edmonton, which we have to pay for the tow, will be covered by warranty. We're thinking we are planning on trading in the car for a new one. We paid cash for it a couple years ago and new is the way to go! We're going down on the Long weekend. Wish me luck!
