Six Month Anniversary with Spark People

I can't believe it has been six months since I started this wonderful journey with Spark People! emoticon emoticon

I have lost 33 pounds and many more inches from all parts of my body. More importantly, I feel wonderful, am healthier, and I also look much better too! Tracking food and exercise is now a firm part of my lifestyle. I plan my meals ahead of eating including when I go out to eat. I check restaurant websites and fill out my nutrition tracker before I going to the restaurant.

I plan my exercise as well and experiment to keep my body guessing. I sometimes feel sore after my workouts, but I know I need them and am healthier for it. I can't say I love exercising, but I continue to do it at least three times per week. I have learned to incorporate exercise into my daily routines, like cleaning, shopping, etc.

I have learned so much from all of the helpful resources. This website and all its members are unbelievable. What a wonderful gift we have been given when Spark People was invented. Thanks, Chris!! I've been SPARKED!!!

Two Months with Spark People

Two months has flown by for me and I am 17 pounds lighter and many inches thinner!
Wow, and Woo Hoo...I feel great!

I just moved into Phase 3 and have selected two motivational phrases to inspire me along the way. I hope they will inspire you as well.

One Month Into Spark People

I can't believe it! It's been one month since I joined Spark People. I love it, especially the nutrition and fitness trackers!!

I have lost 10.6 pounds and unbelieveably...lots of inches off most parts of my bod. I really believe I can do this! Finally, something is working and has me inspired.

"Don't Get Gobbled Up" Challenge for week of Nov 1 through 7

Holiday Mantra: I can do this, even during the holidays!

1) Reviewed trackers and blogs from week 1 on SparkPeople.
General: I worked to understand the site and use all the components.

Nutrition: I went over my calories during the first couple of days when I was tracking after eating. Then I started planning my food before eating and have stayed on or below my calories all of the time.

Fitness: I was not doing much/anything for fitness.

Community: I joined 3 teams, but did not contribute much during the first week.

COMPLETE


2) Made a list of your strengths and weaknesses that you have discovered in your first month here.

Strengths:
a. I am very good at planning and tracking my nutrition. I track everything and don't cheat.
b. I am internally competitive with myself, so the challenges work well for me.
c. I like to learn, so all of the articles and blogs are really helpful.

Weaknesses:
a. I find lots of excuses to not exercise or go to the health club.
b. I am a very private person when it comes to my weight, so it was difficult to share nfo/experiences.
c. I tend to overeat on proteins and undereat on fats.

COMPLETE


3) Weighed the pros and cons of continuing through the holidays instead of starting over in January.
PROS
a. I won't be 10 or more lbs heavier in January and thus won't have to lose the extra weight.
b. I'll be proud of myself for accomplishing a very difficult task.
c. I'll have lost weight by following my nutrition and exercise plans, so in January I'll be lighter.

CONS
a. I'll miss out on all the wonderful food that is present at every party, etc. during the holidays
b. I'll miss out on eating some of the cookies I bake for others at Christmas.

4) Create a Visual Collage of what motivates you. Base it around a specific goal, mantra, feeling or whatever helps you hang to your determination. (50 points)
