You did better than me; I lost 0.4 pounds. Like you said, it's better than nothing, and definitely better than gaining.

Tomarrow is weigh day !

Friday, June 08, 2012

Well looking back over this week i made some wise choices ! Still eating out more than i like but dh really enjoys it ! Yesterday we got grocerys and went to subway ! I had him to thirds his forrest ham sandwich and got some chips to go with it . They were 210 calories but all natural sun chips . First time i have ever had them wasn't worth the calories to me . To have it to do over again i would have got a parfait but i didn't think at the time ! We basically go to subway -wendys -dairy queen or burger king anyone got healthier suggestions ? I usually eat a kids meal and bring most of the fries home for the 3 dogs and 2 birds ! emoticonAt wendy's i would eat the chilli but it is to spicy for me ! I usually eat a chicken wrap at wendys i am burnt out on salads plus they are alot of calories ! Have a great weekend ! I thank God i am doing my 5 minutes of chair exercises again ! Not much but everything helps ! emoticon emoticon

I agree about the sun chips. They are okay - nothing to write home about.

I'm not a fan of fast food. Your hubby needs to learn to enjoy healthy food before he develops some serious medical problems.

It hard to curb DH when he wants to eat out. It's fun, and tastes good. We have decided that we will only eat out a couple days a month instead of every week. I do my best to fix great tasting food at home to help keep DH satisfied.

I totally agree with BMW ~ eat at home when possible. :) When not possible, check out the books that are out there that say "Eat this, Not that!" There are some good fast food alternatives in those books. :) We rarely eat out, so it is not really a problem for me. But when we do, I usually try to be super healthy the rest of the day, weekend, week, month! and so on. My Pooh is getting better at making healthy choices that benefit us both, but he still has days that he craves the most fattening food in the world and I have to make alternative choices (or live with my decisions) :) Have a wonderful weekend!

    Suggestions....
Well I would say grilled chicken from anyplace with NO mayo... I am a salad person so I don't burn out on them so I can't really help there.
People are right that it is still not as healthy as it should be.....
I also agree with asking hubby to get his food if he insist and bringing it home so you can make a healthy option for yourself. I am really blessed to have the support of my hubby and my sons.... even the one at college cooked for me on mothers day instead of taking me out... he knew it would be much healthier.
You deserve to be healthy... You are worth it! I am not crucifying your hubby, but his eating habits are not good for you... or him, but he has to make the choice to want to be healthy.
You are right that any exercise you can do is good. So don't downplay what you are doing. Take it one day at a time and remember your end goal... keep it in front of you. You are worth it! And

With my digestive problems I've learned the healthiest way to eat out (when you have absolutely no choice) is to get the nutritional information and review it before even considering what I feel like eating. Even 'healthier' fast food options are rarely healthy. They add sugar and sodium to make people become addicted. They sneak in additional ingredients you wouldn't expect, like coating bread in butter or oil to make it toast quicker instead of just heating it up. Never be afraid to ask for subsitutions or to leave out ingredients you don't need. Ask for packets of mustard, ketchup, and other condiments on the side so you can put it on yourself in a small amount. Remember that even places like Subway that are considered healthier alternatives are not necessarily healthy unless you specifically choose only a small portion of items that aren't so bad. Some burgers are healthier than some salads.

Have you considered cooking for youself at home when your husband insists on eating out? You can't force him to give it up, but he shouldn't be able to force you to eat it. He can pick it up and bring it home so you can eat together. When he sees the great food you're making for yourself he might choose to eat with you instead of getting fast food. If not, he can have what he wants and you can have what's good for you. Don't sell yourself by putting his wants before your needs.

NEW BUYS AT THE GROCERY THIS WEEK !

Thursday, June 07, 2012

Went to the grocery today ! We usually try to keep our grocery bill @ 50 dollars or under . This week i bought some waffle fries. A family size bag was 2.69 and 1 cup of them are 160 calories Also go sweet potato fries in the waffle cut . They have 130 calories a cup !DH likes onion rings and fried potatoes ! emoticon I do to but can't lose weight like that ! Once in a while i bake 2 potatoes in microwave till done then put alittle oil in iron skillet slice and brown them ! emoticon I got some fish fillets vankamp for 90 calories a fillet ! The juice healthy choice in grape i got last week i divided it into 4 empty bottles i saved and filled them with water . That way i got 4 times my money and hardly no calories and i am getting at least 64 oz of water in aday with alittle flavor to it ! I got 3 lbs of hamburger this week and i will add over half onion to it some 35 calorie bread broke up egg whites out of 2 eggs salt pepper and a large can of tomato soup mix that all up and make patties out of it 5 per lb put them in cheap sandwich bags then still all them in a freezer bag ! We call it fried meat loaf ! It's lower in calories and makes your meat go farther ! Doing pretty good staying on track with my food but wish we didn't eat out in fast foods so much ! I am working on a plan for that . Usually i eat a kids meal and bring home most of the fries to my 3 dogs and 2 birds ! emoticon emoticon emoticonAnybody got any ideas i am always looking for recipes and tricks of the trade here on spark ! emoticon

Enjoy the cook out. I know how it goes with the alcohol, but my family just drinks it anyway. They don't care that I don't.

I can relate concerning family and not being able to be as close as you want to be. My husband has helped me in this matter. He's shared that people can only give what they can give. I want MORE, but I have to accept what others are able to give me at the time. For example, I'd really like my brother to be closer to me and I call him about once a month or so, but I get his voicemail and he hasn't returned my calls in a really long time. But I know that ALL THINGS are POSSIBLE with GOD and so I will continue to love and reach out to him and his bride knowing that God can bring a closeness to us. I'll be praying for you and your relationships with your brothers. emoticon

I shop at Walmart once a month, I love their produce department and always take advantage of their bananas and large bag of fresh spinach with shredded carrots, I use it for stir-fries and for adding in salads...Both items are always at good prices. Try the spinach bag, I think you and your hubby will be pleasantly surprised in how good it tastes especially added in garden salads and in stir-fries, I get the bag mostly at under 2 dollars. Check for the apples and red potatoes, they often have super prices. One week I got 3 pounds of red potatoes for $1.97. Eating out by the lake sounds both peaceful and enjoyable...Have a great day and keep up the great work. HUGS emoticon emoticon

We get Papa Murphy's take and bake pizza. Last time we got their deLite crust which dropped the calories over 100 calories per serving. My husband liked it so we will get it from now on. Eating at the lake sounds like fun.
