Bah Humbug! I'm starting to grow gills.... Enough with the clouds and rain already!
I got the washer installed last Friday. Who knew that between the old washer and the new, the standard width had increased by 3 inches! The washer and dryer no longer fit evenly in my cramped utility room! And when I went to run the washer they hadn't turned on the cold water! So until I hang upside down behind the washer to turn it on, no washing for me!I did try everywhere to find a slightly narrower machine but am unable to find the $$ It would require more than double the price!!!
Since I needed to remove about half of my pantry shelves in the utility room to allow the installers to work, shelving and canned goods are all over the place in my kitchen and garage. Untidiness gets on my last nerve. Sometimes the life of a single senior woman is vastly overrated.
Last week, when I reinstalled my central air, (ie a box fan in the LR,) I dislodged the old wooden storm window, which fell on the corner and sprung the frame. My attempts to reinstall it have met with no success as the wood is too swollen. I will have to repair it when we get some dry weather.
I will get to Curve's and Gold's today which is my only link (actually a slim thread) to sanity. The good news is that my eating is under control since something has to be!!! My is still at 155...
Did I mention that although I have my lawn mower out of it's winter storage, it has still been too wet to even try to start, let alone cut grass.

6/6/10 Oh my, I forgot to talk about the treat part!
When I get back to 155#(my low in 2009) I will treat myself to a salon haircut in downtown St Paul, MN. I only have 0.6 lb to get to that one! Whoops!, I gotta make that appointment, that was 1.4 lb ago!
When I get to 150#, a manicure at a local salon.
When I get to 145#, a pedicure at a local salon, my first ever, I think!
When I get to 140#, a Bottle of champagne to share with my friends!
Lower than that? New clothing for my slim bod!

When I started this weight loss journey in February of 2009, my goal was to go from 187 pounds to a fitter and healthier weight of 125 pounds. Because I'm a lifelong asthmatic, depressive, 70 years old, and you name it, I was told I couldn't/shouldn't do it.
To quote an old poem I memorised many years ago,
Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But she with a chuckle replied,
That maybe it couldn't, but she would be one,
who wouldn't say so till she'd tried!
So she buckled right in, with a trace of a grin on her face,
if she worried-she hid it!
She started to sing as she tackled the thing........
That couldn't be done
aaaannnnnnnnndddd SHE'S DOING IT!"
No, I'm not there yet! Last year I was eating better and less and piling up fitness points! I joined Curves, walked up a storm and began to loose weight. Slowly and steadily, but not perfectly. The progress continued to 30 pounds and to November. There I stalled and the struggle seemed almost overwhelming. Because I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD and live in Minnesota, my will to continue was being sapped.
I had to drop back and regroup. Then I decided instead of giving up I would take a hiatus and try to maintain the weight already lost ( or at least most of it). The lowest weight I had hit was 155 pounds and I reached spring at around 160(+/- 2#) depending on when I got weighed.
I've been slowly ramping back up as the days get longer again and joined a gym ( in addition to Curves) for more fitness options. My weight is back to 156.2 and I'm sure it will continue downward. I've even joined the C25K team and am now repeating week three. I'm geeking up,I got an iPod, a Nike+ system and some reflective armbands so that I can 'wog' during the cooler night time summer hours(the backup to that is the air conditioned gym)!
Will I get to 125 lbs or be happy at 130 or 135? I don't know, but I'll know when I get there!
(This was composed as an entry in Spark's "I Deserve a Treat Because..." contest. Because it is also a declaration of intent I decidedto post it so that my Spark 'peeps' will hold me to it!)

Last night, I went for my day 3 of week 3 of C25K. It was not pretty. It was still above 70*F and the humidity was over 70%. Due to chronic asthma, I have a bit more trouble breathing when the humidity is that high! I persisted, but with more walking and slower jogging; when I reached the lake where there was a breeze, I rested and started all over! It didn't get any better, I was just cooler with the breeze...............
The lake front was beautiful with a full moon low in the sky and shining across the water. There were enormous clouds of bugs around the lights. I wasn't sure of the identity of the bugs until I got back near my home. There were NONE of those bugs around those lights. So, my guess is that the bugs along the lake were a big hatch of Mayflies! The fish like them very much. White Bear Lake is an excellent lake for fishing for walleye, pike, bass and smaller pan fish. I often read about swarms of these flies where the Interstate crosses the Mississippi. They are many inches deep on the roadway, making the road very dangerous due to the "bug slick"! They often need a snowplow to keep the road safe for motorists. NOW THAT IS A LOT OF BUGS, no joke.
I will repeat week 3 again, the humidity should be much lower on Monday, I hear.
Have a safe and Greene Memorial day weekend!
