Freedom...

Wednesday, August 05, 2009

Freedom to me is getting out of my self imposed fences and moving on towards reaching the goals I have set for myself. It is letting go of those old thoughts and attitudes about failure and success which FREE me to move forward on my journey.

I live in a FREE country where we can pretty much do whatever I want to do but in the end I sometimes live as though I don't have these freedoms. I have build fences to keep me in and keep others out because of my fear of failure and more so of success. Although I sometimes fear failure, it is not nearly as scary as success. I have known failure so much that it has become comfortable to me. If I succeed, I will become a role model and become accountable for my actions and continued success. Failure allows me to continue with being "status quo" and I can hide in this area as opposed to being out front and being a leader. Being a leader and being accountable takes lots of energy and time. Am I ready for that? I sure am!!!

An article I read this morning talked about the Fences in our Minds which prevent us from being successful leaders. These fences are created by self doubt, uncertainty and fear. The only way to tear down these fences is to have a vision and go forward towards action. I will do what I need to do today to continue tearing down my fences and moving toward the freedom I want so much.

Vision + Action = FREEDOM

In other words, FREEDOM is just on the other side of ACTION and is entirely up to me today! I will take the action I need to take today to move forward to Freedom and continue success.

Hugs, Sunny

Wonderful blog, I've always called those fences acrylic walls. They protect you, from pain, but also from joy. Isn't it funny that many times the shell went present, really belies who we are and the pain, we've known. emoticonPJ

Sunny- I loved your blog, the part about being comfortable with failure and wary of success really hit home with me! I do believe that I have found some freedom to do things I would never do when I was heavier, just bevause of my weight! I don't ever want my weight to stand between me and anything. Thanks for your wise words, Sunny.

I know what you are saying, Sunny. There are unhealthy boundaries people erect that need to be broken down. At the same time, there are boundaries that need to stay in place to not infringe on the freedoms of others. Some fences need to be removed, some need to be enlarged, and some just need the gates opened!

So Sunny...

Monday, August 03, 2009

After dinner last evening, I went out into the garden and took photos of my Sunflowers and made this new collage. They are doing so good this year and you can not imagine how happy I am to have them. They are my special gift from God. I do not know of any one flower that brings me so much joy.

Take care and do have a very emoticon day. I appreciate you all so much. It makes this journey so much easier.

How beautiful! I never knew sunflowers could be so varied! I love all the different colors, and your collage is beautiful. You're so talented.

And, I really like your new picture. It's so wonderful seeing your smiling beautiful face!

Do you feel the change in the air? It's a good change, and it feels so energizing. Maybe it helped taking a weekend off and getting out of town with the hubby, maybe it's knowing work is going to be less hectic in September, and maybe it's having great friends like you who believe in me and support me in my efforts! I sure couldn't do it without you! Thank you for being there for and with me!

Hugs,
Lucky

If I knew how, I would share pictures of my "naked ladies" (surprise lilies).
They came up so straight and demure but the other night, we got a rain on which some of them got "tipsy" so some of them can't even stand up anymore! Shame, shame ladies!

Ping...

Jalapeno Jelly 8/2/09

There is nothing more satisfying than canning and then waiting to hear the Ping the lids make as they seal. I make a list of the number of jars I canned - today it was 1 to 6 and then mark them off as I hear the Pings.

I guess the next most satisfying thing would be spreading some of this great jelly on a cracker with some low fat Philidelphia Cream Cheese or perhaps some fresh Corn Bread warm from the oven. Since I do not make a sweet Corn Bread, this is perfect for me.

If you don't can or make jelly, you can still get this wonderful creation from most major supermarkets. If you have never tried it, it is well worth it. It is a wonderful combination of sweet/hot and savory flavors.

Now - it is back to the garden to pick the green beans.

Hugs, Sunny

    Sunny,
You blog reminded me of another one you wrote about green beans. I finally found a picture of the purple green beans we would grow (we grew purple hulled beans too, but these are unique!).
You'll have to cut and paste it into your browser so you can see them!

I've actually got some jalapenos ready to pick, but I think they are going to be stuffed and grilled or smoked... Have some bitsy 'fish peppers' that have really good flavor - bet they would be good in a hot jelly like that! Wouldn't be able to make more than one jar, tho - they're really small peppers. More of an ornamental than anything, but do taste good!

I really love it, but it is A TREAT and I don't eat it often. What fun to make your own tho.. I used to, years ago when I had a huge garden. (That was when the kids were little and I worked full time and still had time for a garden. hahahah) Now I am retired, I don't have time for much of anything.

WICKED - The Musical

Saturday, August 01, 2009

I am so excited this morning. I got an e-mail from my Daughter In Law letting me know that my DS is going to stand in line this morning to buy us tickets for Wicked which is coming in November. I have read the book, have and listen to the soundtrack but never thought I would get to see the Musical. While it is a little ways off, I am still very excited and a little surprised my DS, the Engineer who always has so much to do, is going to stand in line for our tickets. Son - you have surprised me but in the most pleasant way. Thanks so much!

I am off soon to WW to weigh in and then a stroll through the Farmer's Market. Take care my friends and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Sunny

So Very Thankful...

Friday, July 31, 2009

Just wanted to stop by today and share a bouquet of Sunflowers that I picked and took to my dear friend, Shirley, yesterday. I am so very thankful that Shirley has returned to work after being off for a while due to some heath problems. She is my bright spot at work and I have missed her so much. When I found out she was back to work, I knew I needed to take her some of my Sunnies. When I first transferred up to Pain Management, Shirley received me with open arms. She is always so happy to see me and it just makes me feel good.

A person shows their true self by how much they need other people.
--Anonymous

I saw this wonderful quote recently and it brought to mind Shirley and my need for her love and acceptance that very first day on the job. I soon found out that Shirley also needed me! We need each other. I never have wondered the "whys" of where I landed where I did. I know why I am there! God brought Shirley and I together and I can not wait to see what Blessings he has in store for us.

Every time we share with another human being, we add something to our spiritual bank account, allowing us to draw on it when extra demands are made upon our courage. In the measure in which we share our burdens, they become lighter.

Just as I am thankful for Shirley, I am thankful for each of the friends I have met on my Journey here at Spark People. You give and give and give and I am inspired to give back. What comes around will go around! Thank you all for the fuel that feeds my fire today. I just hope I can give back as much as I have received as I do believe that it is in the giving that I am able to fully receive.

God Bless us Everyone.
Sunny
