2 days 2 VACATION!!

Wednesday, August 04, 2010

That's right I'm going on vacation!! We haven't gone on an actually vacation since we went to Texas last summer to see my husband before he left for Kuwait. So it will be nice to get to go as a family and also as a couple. We are first going to his hometown to see his brother, who is there for the All-School Reunion, participate in the demolition derby. Than we will do a couple days of sight-seeing with the kids in the Black Hills, before Grandma takes them home. Than the DH and I are going to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. We used to go every year, that is before kids, and it's been 2 years since we have been so we are excited about going. Plus we will get to take the new Harley out and NO Kids. We will be spending 2 nights in Sturgis and than heading home so I can get to my Sports Kick-off Meeting on Thursday. So we will be gone from Friday to Wednesday. emoticon
I'm really excited, but I'm not looking forward to everything I'll have to get done when I get home. VB practices starts the 16th and school on the 23rd, so this is really the last hooray before school starts and summer is over. emoticon
I got in plenty of cardio today, 45 minutes on the elliptical, 200 crunches, and than I mowed the lawn for an hour, before we got the rider to pick up all the clippings. It looked like I was getting ready to bail hay in my front yard. emoticon
All in all it was a great day and I made the kids happy with ice cream floats for dessert tonight. None for me, but watching them enjoy them was good enough. emoticon
Have a Terrific Thursday and thanks for stopping in! emoticon

Reading your blog puts me in such a happy mood! I'm so jealous of you having a Harley. I've always dreamed of having one. Maybe later in life. Well I'm so happy to see you are doing so good. Me not so good but hopefully I'll see better days!

I had another rough night. I couldn't fall until after midnight and than I had a little boy hop into bed with me until 5:00. That's when I decided that I wouldn't be getting up to workout at 6. I did get up at 7 and did 60 minutes of cardio and than did my strength training, but I just felt tired all day! emoticon I really could have used a nap, but it just wasn't in the cards for today.
I guess I'll try to get to bed early tonight, and since the softball was cancelled, due to all the rain, I might be able to do that. emoticon
I hope you all had a wonderful day and get a restful night's sleep. emoticon

Oh, what a miserable situation that is! I feel terrible when my sleep's that poor. Hope you were able to hit the hay early tonight and catch up on some really restorative sleep! - Sandi emoticon

I think the heat and humidity get to all of us. I missed my strength today and now feel hot and sweaty and guilty. When the heat and humidity let up, we should all feel better. emoticon emoticon Hang in there! Sleep well!

Running Break:(

Monday, August 02, 2010

I did get in 60 minutes of cardio today along with my crunches (yep 200 Bogusannie:), but I won't be logging any running miles for a while. My achilles was sore on Saturday after I finished my 6 miles and I ended up limping around for most of the day and than it was still sore on Sunday. After discussing it with my runner DH, he figured I should probably take a week off and let it rest. The only bad thing is that we are heading out on vacation Friday and won't be back until Wednesday. So it will really be almost 2 weeks with no running, at least I can still do the elliptical, it doesn't hurt my achilles. emoticon
Another hot, humid and rainy day, so the kids and I have been pretty house bound, hopefully tomorrow will be better, otherwise the kids might mutiny! emoticon
I made zucchini casserole tonight and it was emoticon!! I had 2 servings and I'm still filling stuffed.
I love summer and all the fresh veggies! emoticon emoticon
Have a Terrific Tuesday and keep Sparking! emoticon

Gloating are you??!!! LOL Well I took your advice and started small...I did 25 today...and on my one minute crunch test got 48 in...but I felt it today I tell ya! LOL
I'll catch up to you Missy...you wait and see!!!
Sorry to hear about the injury...nurse it back to health before running too much...no need for permanent damge!!
Where did you get the caserole recipe? SP? Is it hard to make? I can't cook...seriously...so if it's complicated...no can do! emoticon

Ohhhhh... emoticon Sunny, I'm so sorry to hear about your Achilles tendon... Hopefully, with a little rest and a gradual return to running, eventually, you'll be able to get back to it. It's great that you can still use the elliptical; that's still a GREAT workout! Mmm...zucchini casserole?? That sounds right up my alley, too! And I'm with you on fresh veggies (and fruit) this summer; they're the mainstay of my diet 30/31 days a month (and you know about the 31st...lol!!). Hope tomorrow cools off so that those kiddos can get out 'n' about again ;) - Sandi emoticon

Family and fun

Sunday, August 01, 2010

Today is my day off so I have NO cardio comments today, but I do still have 200 crunches to do. That's something I do try to do daily.
Besides the humidity, the weather is wonderful outside, which is great due to the fact that we are expecting company today. We are grilling and have family over for my mom's belated birthday party. I'm hoping to get the Slip and Slide out for the kids after dinner, which we allow the adults to talk without too many distractions. emoticon The dinner consists of steaks, fresh tomato salad, grilled zucchini and squash, and than carrot cake for dessert. It should be a wonderful meal. emoticon
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! emoticon

Mmmm, that sounds like a fabulous birthday dinner for Mom! And the grilled veggies are sooo delicious. There's something about grilling that gives them that nice, sweet, roasted taste, don't you think? The kids should be blissfully occupied with their Slip and Slide :) I still can't get over your 200 crunches. For me, that's 5 days' worth!! Have a great week ahead - Sandi emoticon

Last Saturday for July

Sunday, August 01, 2010

I had a great day today. I go up and ran 6 miles and jogged in another .7 emoticon Than I did my strength training and 200 crunches. emoticon emoticon
After that I got a couple of loads of laundry in, took Mom her birthday present, and than fed the kids some lunch and it was off to dance class.
I got to spend time with my sister and niece and than came back home to get ready for dinner guests. We grilled, had fresh fruit and corn on the cob. It was great relaxing and having a borderline adult night, of course the kids were there but we sat outside for while and they got to play.
All in all a wonderful summer day. Have a great Sunday!! emoticon

What a great day! I also had corn, but it was frozen. One package split open when I defrosted my freezer. It was yummy! I'll be watching for fresh now. What a great day you had!

Thanks to you I added crunches on my list of goals for August...surely I won't be doing 200 daily...like some people I know...nudge nudge wink wink...but I will be on my way to as many as I can...Thanks for that!
Glad you had a nice day!

That does sound like a wonderful summer day and evening! Happy belated birthday to your mom :) Your dinner sounded very appealing, too! It won't be long 'til you can have lots of adult nights; the kids will be more and more out of the way over time, too. Have a great Monday tomorrow! - Sandi emoticon
