Week 5 Day 1 - Shoulders Biceps and Triceps

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

Ok, so I pretty much took Week 4 off thanks to Christmas with my family. It was so worth it (kinda) because I spent quality time with my family. I put time with family above PIHW when at all possible. It's a priority. I do, however, regret taking so much time off because I am sore now...OUCH! But it's kind of good because I get to start from anew...kinda.
Week 5 Day 1 was no joke. 1 arm pushups?!? Are you kidding me? I could only manage 2 and that was while on my knees.

So did anyone actually stick to their routine over the Christmas break? If not, it ain't the end of the world. Get back on track and keep going. That's all that matters. You've got nothing but time to reconnect and complete the program. My personal goal is to be done in time for summer and to look and feel great. If I can get a second round in before June, that's be sweet!
Anyway, time to rest.
Night everyone.

Well, I am sure you can assume that I did not miss a day. I actually have a suggestion for those one arm push-ups...don't do them. I subbed one arm alternating chest press for that is basically doing the same thing to your muscles but that way you can get some heavy chest lifting in a workout that really is missing it. So you hold your left arm straight, stationary and then do a chest press with your right arm while your left arm is overhead and then is pretty tough so try with a light weight at first.

Good Luck

Stick to my routine?- I was a total slacker and I don't feel guilty about it. My goals are set for the next while so all is good.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

Friday, December 24, 2010

I had a cheat day last night...there it is. It's out. Yup, I opted to watch a good movie, eat some junk food and have a few beers. Yup. Last night was the start of my vacation and I wanted to just have a relaxing evening. So I did! And you know what? I didn't even go over my calories. I went way over my sodium and I feel bloated this morning but it was worth it. Sure, I'm going to have to make it up today but I'm ok with that.

I have an open house at my friend's place tonight with the kids and there is going to be more drinking and junk eating going on. I'm bringing homemade Gyoza. I love Gyoza.

What are you doing for Christmas Eve? I used to get SOOOO excited on this day when I was really young. For some reason the excitement isn't there anymore. Oh well. It's for the kids, not me anyway. haha

Take it easy everyone!

A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year my son. I am sure your sons will enjoy Christmas just the way you remember it. We will be celebrating Patricia's birthday tonight with our traditional feed of Chinese food. For us Christmas Day is really no different from any other day. We are just thankful to have one another.
Don't worry about cheating. It is all good... relax and reflect on what you have accomplished.

Happiness and good health in the coming year

Day 17 : Max Cardio Conditioning and Abs

Thursday, December 23, 2010

I was going to ask the question on the message boards but I got my answer this morning. I was going to ask if I should have sore muscles after working out at this point. I mean, I workout and afterwards my body feels like jello but the next day I don't feel anything. When I first started PIHW I was sore everyday for the first week. Well, this morning I woke up and OUCH! My arms and back are sore. So yeah, I've got my answer. I know I've been pushing hard but maybe I need to push harder. Do I? Do you? I guess I've always just associated the "gain" with "Pain".

Anyway, today is Max Cardo Conditioning and then Insanity Abs. I was supposed to do abs last night but I was just spent after nearly 2 hours of strength training. I have to say though, I am pretty happy with my progress so far and it's only been 17 days. I'm really excited to see where I'm at on day 90!!! I know I'll be in a place that I've never been in my life...physically speaking. I've never had a nice body so to see it developing is making me happy. I have no intention of becoming super muscular like those meatheads at the gym. I just want to be toned and fit.

Have a good day everyone! I'll update my blog after my workout tonight.

Max Cardio conditioning is a lot of fun. I would say yes, it is normal to feel sore. I think that is the beauty of doing a P90X hybrid, because you are constantly pushing yourself and constantly changing things up your muscles never get used to it. I am having a tough time getting sore, but seeing as today is day 112 of consecutive exercise, it makes perfect sense.

Day 16 Shoulders and Arms & Abs.

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

This is one of my favourite workouts next to chest and back from P90X.
I'm looking forward to rocking it this evening.
Nothing new otherwise.
Updates to follow.

If you've been reading my blogs you've probably heard me say something along the lines of "I took it 1 step further" or that I pushed a little harder in my workout. Well today was extreme/boarder line stupid. I combined the P90X Shoulders and Arms with P90X Chest and Back but alternating reps and sets. In total it took 2 hours and it was brutal. I don't recommend it unless you really want to push yourself to the your limits. Actually, the 2 workouts compliment each other quite nicely.
Fangle, I dare you to try this?! Bring It!

I hope everyone gave it their alltoday and are ready for another day tomorrow. Tomorrow is cardio and abs so I'm lining up Insanity Max Cardio Conditioning and Insanity Abs. What have you got lined up?

On a side note, I'm looking forward to being off of work from the 24th until jan 4th. Let's all breath a sigh of relief...ahhhh~~~~

Day 15 - Max Plyo SWEAT!!

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

Is it already day 15? It feels like day 150! hahaha. Today is a good cardio day with Insanity Max Plyo. I saw FANGLE's sweaty Insanity picture and it motivated me to work hard this evening. I plan on just pushing myself to the edge today and getting a killer workout.
How about you? Are you ready to bring it today? ARE YOU READY!?!?!

Let's make today special and just kill it! You'll be so glad you did.

Insanity Max Interval Plyo - DONE!
Today's workout was probably the easiest it's ever been. That's not to say that it was easy because it definately wasn't. If Insanity is ever easy it means you are dogging it. What I mean was I was able to do majority of the exercises through all of the intervals whereas in the past I would stop half way through each 45 second exercise because I was just too tired. I was also so happy to actually do all 96 pushups in the second interval Level 3 drills. I think I've only ever completed it once before and it wasn't with good form. Today I did them all with good form. I have P90X ST for that! Actually, the ST that I've been doing with P90X has helped out A LOT with the cardio. Who knew that if you build muscles they will help you do exercise. What a novel concept.
So to all of you out there who are dissing Strength Training, think again. It's crucial if you want to be able to perform your cardio. I'm loving this hybrid workout.
I hope all of you brought it today!! Tomorrow we bring it again with P90X Arms and Shoulders and Insanity Abs.

I love that workout. The circuit with level 3 drills is probably the hardest circuit for me out of any of the P90X/Insanity/P90X+ videos.

Dig Deep!!
