Another crazy day @ the Parade

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Well this wraps up my weekend. I went to the gym twice today and burned a whopping 2400 calories! Don't worry, I ate a ton of food and stayed within my range. I feel great. This is going to be really hard to give up after the family returns. Hopefully I will have reached my goal by then so I won't need to go crazy at the gym.
I still haven't drummed up the courage to go to the pool. I don't know what's holding me back. Some day...some day.
I wanted to add a quick note. I've always hated my neck. I've always had a fat neck and I know that when I talked people saw my fat neck. I've always hatedd when I would talk to someone and they would rub under their chin as if to say, "I hope my neck isn't fat like that". Well since I've been losing weight and exercising my neck isn't as fat anymore. I can actually see definition in my neck. I'm sure when I talk I still have a double chin but I know it isn't as bad as it was. I don't feel like such a frog anymore!
I'm also happy about my stomach and my chest. I'm losing my gut and I can see ab definition. I'm still waiting to see the love handles disappear but I'm definately seeing an improvement and feeling better about myself. I mean I'm only 1/2 way to my goal but I'm feeling much better about myself already. I can't wait to see how I'll look when I reach my goal. Exciting!
That's all. Tomorrow I'm having dinner with a friend so I don't know how long I'll be able to exercise at the gym. Maybe tomorrow should be a rest day....hmmm. I'm looking forward to dinner with them because I haven't seen them in a while and they have kids that my boys pla with so it will remind me of my family.
Oh, I got to do a video chat with my family the other day and see my wife and kids. They looked good and really happy to see me. It was heart warming.
Alright, time to relax for the night.
Chiao.

Well Sukoto, never noticed your neck before, lucky for you, you don't have a turkey neck like me lol. Good for you. I have missed going to the pool for 2 weeks now as I was away at the coast, but for sure today I will be going. Have to start sweating away all those calories I ate while on holidays. If you need help going in the pool just give me a call. I can coach you in the deep water running. I do it without a belt, burns more calories that way.
I really am glad you posted this blog on FB, didn't know about this site perhaps it will give me inspiration.

Finally did it!

Saturday, April 24, 2010

I broke the 177 weight plateau! I weighed in at 175.4 this morning after my workout. It's all down hill from here.
I went to the gym this morning and was going to do the variety workout but I missed the start and decided to just run for 50 mins on the treadmill instead. It was actually some aerobics which I'm really not interested in. I was looking for squats, crunches and push ups or spinning. I'm not an aerobics or zumba guy.
Well, I'm pretty beat right now so I'm going to cut this short. I just had to report that I'm losing weight again. I'm going to try to his the gym again this evening after dinner for some eliptical and recumbant bike. I already put in a 1300 calorie burn this morning but I'm looking to break 2000 cals today. I figure if the BL contestants can do 8000 cal burn a day, I can at least do 2000.
Feeling good but tired.

Chiao.

Congrats. I will remember this when I hit a righteous plateau (not one that can be traced to what I did or did not do *g*).

Great job! Keep up the great work and I'm sure you'll continue to keep losing--plateaus are hard to overcome, but once you do.. it's all downhill from there! (haha..;o)

Thanks for letting me know! I had "Turn my page offline" checked, so I think that is why no one could look at my page. I was wondering why no one was talking to me lol

Sapphire, how come I can't see your page? It says that it can't find the user if I try to click on your sparkpage. Weird.

Congratulations on breaking your plateau! Does the Biggest Loser Contestants really have to burn 8,000 calories a day?? That is absolutely crazy!

Day 2 @ the gym

Friday, April 23, 2010

I have to say that I'm loving the gym. I rode the bike for 30 mins and the eliptical for 25 minutes. I find the eliptical is hard on my feet even with the gel insoles. It's just flat foot running and you never relieve the pressure from your feet. I guess I'm just not used to it yet. I also did some strength circuit training which was great. I ran around the indoor track for a bit as well. Not too bad but my calves are still sore and I'm feeling my shin splints.

Tomorrow morning there is a "Variety" workout for an hour that I'm going to drop into. It should be fun. I didn't work my upper body and core so much today so I'm hoping that's what's going to be focused on tomorrow.
I'm going to give it everything I've got for the next 2 months to kick my body back into weight loss mode. With the freedom to spend as much time as I can at the gym I'm sure I'm going to meet my goals in time.
Go Gym!

Night

I made the leap

Thursday, April 22, 2010

...and got a 2 month membership at the local community center! It's awesome! All new Life Fitness equipment, full access to the pool and all drop-in fitness sessions. It's a pretty impressive setup. All brand new.
Anyway, I got the tour and did 20 mins on the bike, 20 minutes on the eliptical and 20 minutes on the treadmill. A great first day of cardio. I can go everyday for the next 2 months...and I probably will.
I'm so impressed...sorry to brag but this place is awesome.

I'll keep you updated.

Still in my plateau...sucks

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Well I'm still sitting here on my plateau, looking up the mountain that I've still got left to climb. I wish my inner hiker would just get off his ass and start climbing again. I'm still eating well and I'm still getting my 1000 calorie burn almost everyday but nothing is changing. I was almost thinking of letting myself slip for a week so my body thinks it's going back to normal and then SHOCK it with the healthy food again and more exercise. I guess it's gotten used to the running and the healthy food. It's good to know that once I get to my ideal weight it will be easy to maintain. It's getting over this hump that isn't working for me.
Would someone please just kick me in the ass so I'll got to the gym, get the monthly pass and start spending time on the bikes and elipticals? I really don't know what's holding me back. Arggg...

I also had a bit of fun yesterday. My van was smashed up by a truck at the park and ride where I catch my bus. Some idiot decided to back into my van and park on my bumper. Apparently he forgot to put his parking break on and ended up rolling into my van putting a fairly good sized dent in my back hatch. Fortunately, some kind stranger reported it to the police and I was able to get all of the truck's info and make an insurance claim. I had to leave work early and deal with this mess yesterday. Not a lot of fun. At least it won't cost me anything, insurance wise.
We also had a showing yesterday which cut nicely into my exercise time. I tried to keep my calories down considering I couldn't burn anything yesterday.
I'm still recovering from the race...still.
Today will be the day I go to the gym and put in a few hours on the bikes. Maybe that'll be the shock my body needs to start climbing that weight loss mountain again.
Here's a picture of the damage to my van. Not very happy.
Thanks for reading.

Sorry to say but plateaus are fact of life when trying to lose weight. We don't notice the same thing happening when we are gaining weight..haha
I have been through 2 plateaus so far and the one thing that has worked for me is not to stress over it. Stressing about will only make it that much harder. Remember what Bob and Gillian say about stress. It is a weight loss killer. Best to just work through it. The gym just might be the place where you can break through.
Sorry to hear about your van.
