wishing.....wont make it happen!

Wednesday, September 04, 2013

I'm an active person and love doing things.I'm also a bit of a procrastinator..LOL I know what you must be thinking. Are'nt we all?I bought some shelves and brackets 2 years ago and I still hav'nt installed them where they are meant to go!!While cleaning the garage my DH ran across the shelves and said "Honey,When are you going to put them up"I made a face and he laughed and said"Well wishing wont make it happen"Soooo after all that time I finally installed the shelves and got some other tasks accomplished!! emoticon The same goes with losing weight.Get up and get organized and stop procrastinating.Tomorrow might be a new day but what about right now?You are worth it!!! emoticon SUSAN

It reminds me of some framed prints that I bought for our master bathroom. I've had them for years and I never get around to hanging them up. In fact, I saw them the other day and thought about surprising my hubby by putting them up. I quickly got sidetracked and it didn't happen. Whenever I get around to making a "to do" list, I'll have to remember to include hanging those pictures. Right now, my priority is planning healthy meals to help me lose weight.

I found a baby kitten

Thursday, August 29, 2013

So here I am outside mowing grass.I stopped the mower to clean out the grass bag.I hear this weak mewing but cant find the source. Finally it gets the better of me and I go get my dog that sniffs out anything. She went straight to a kitten and barked. She was dirty and hungry and I fed her kitty formula from a nurser(my friends at a no kill shelter provided me with formula and nursers)She gobbled it all up and fell out like a limp rag.I got some baby wipes and wiped her down while she stretched out on the table. My oldest DGD wants to keep her, she's named her Molly.Well Molly came to life like a freight train!!She loves Mercedez and played inside her backpack.Everyone was laughing at her antics. She climbed to the top of my curtains and went to sleep then couldn't get down.My neighbors kids went around knocking on doors trying to find Molly's owners but no such luck. She in the meantime made herself at home and is getting litterbox trained. She's on my shoulders sleeping and purring like an engine.Mercedez says if mom lets her have Molly,She will give her back if we find her owner. She is so adorably cute, long, tan, black, gold and brown fur. emoticon SUSAN
P.S.....Mike,a friend at the shelter said he'd take Molly have her checked out and he will take her to Mercedez later no charge to adopt Molly!!!..AWWWW!How sweet of him!

This message is from my heart

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

That's the sentence I wrote to my 4 daughters. They get busy with their lives and forget about calling or texting us.When I don't answer the phone they get angry at me.Its Good for the Goose but not for the Gander my Grammy would say.The pregnant DD wont call me at all for weeks or answer my texts then when I don't answer hers she gets PISSED OFF!She knows im excited about the baby but wont include me in anything.Oh,They will let me know right away they need money. They have no time for me though.I was yelled at for waking them Saturday then, they wanted me to cook them dinner!!So I told them they had better get right with me,I do a lot for everyone and they are MIA when I need anything. emoticonLetting people know,in words or actions what they mean to you is very important.A hug,a pat on the back a call or even a card can mean the world...To me at least!! emoticon SUSAN

I agree with you about keeping in touch with those we love. Praise God our children are great about keeping in touch. I have always praised our eldest (the mother to our five Grandblessings) for her keeping us right up to date on all the happenings in her daily life. That has proven to be such a blessing to us because we live half a country away from one another.

However, it is not the case with my siblings (scattered throughout the USA), who are not at all good about keeping in touch. I finally resigned myself to the fact that they are just not writers & don't like to pick up the telephone. Coming to that realization gave me a sense of freedom, in that I stopped trying so hard & now seldom call or write. Interestingly enough when I have called they act so happy to hear from me & be updated on our family. I wish that they would realize that it would be just as pleasant for us to have return calls once in a while.

Maybe to tell family members how we feel would make a difference?

God bless!

I'm sorry your DD doesn't appreciate everything you do for her. I agree, once she becomes a mother, she will learn how much you really did for her.

I suspect part of the problem is that DD takes for you granted. You're her mom. Aren't you supposed to be doing everything for her ? Well, when she becomes a mom, she'll understand what it means to be a parent.

For now, I want you to know that all your Spark buddies appreciate what you do for those around you !

Sorry to see this. We went through this too, but things have gotten much better. I don't have such high expectations, and am pleased to hear from the kids. I have my own life to live, as do they. I don't contact my parents daily, so I don't expect my kids to contact me daily.

emoticon I understand because my friends have the same disappointments. It's good that you wrote a note to your daughters stating what you need and want. I hope it helps.

Most children look to their parents for what they want. They are off to their friends and other activities knowing mom and dad will be there when they want them. Often that mindset doesn't change until parents change the rules.

I agree with previous posters to set boundaries, don't give kids power over you and don't give them money. Many parents postpone retirement because they gave children money that was never repaid. You raised your children. Now is the time for you and your husband to enjoy! It's good if your kids want to be included, but don't depend on them for your happiness.

    Boundaries. Set Boundaries.
Otherwise they will destroy you. (Don't ask me how I know emoticon
You are worth so much more than that sort of treatment.

I know a lady that - if that were to happen to her - would say to her DD "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out!"

Let them know that if they want some of your time, they need to make an appointment. Well in advance. You're too busy having a good life!

Your blog touched my heart! Don't let them have that power over you, you deserve better. They need money? Tell them to work for it - you do not need to be handing it out just because they ask. Don't let them make you feel guilty and don't let them take advantage of you. I know I don't know you at all, I hope I don't sound awful, but I just about cried when I read how your daughter was treating you and it doesn't matter if her pregnancy hormones are making her moody - you deserve love, respect, and kindness...and, in this case, an apology.

The baby critters

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

I found a baby squirrel stuck inside a fruit tree net.The fireants were biting him.I gently unraveled him from the net and wrapped him in old rags.He was'nt trying to bite so I placed him in an old birdcage with the door open and put him up in the squirrel tree(an oak)He would'nt come out and his mama never came for him.I fed him from a bottle and called my friend James,he's a squirrel expert,to come and get him.We found his mama 3 days later.Shot by the kids in the neighborhood probably. They run around with bb guns shooting at birds and rabbits. It's been 3 weeks and Astro the squirrel is thriving in James backyard squirrel habitat. It's safe from critters like owls and hawks.Yesterday my DH found 2 baby rabbits. We have them in a cage feeding them until someone from ASPCA picks them up.All man's road improvement and home/school building is pushing them from their habitats. My neighbor recently found a baby owl!!Well I better get my workout done and wash some windows...PEACE to ya'll emoticon SUSAN

Nice that you are able to give the little critters a second change at living. Our son found a baby squarrel last week in his back sidewalk who had fallen out of a tree. He put it in a small cage and has been feeding it too--it perked up and is thriving--and walks right up the our son when placed outdoors.
