A lesson well learned

Thursday, May 02, 2013

My oldest dd Alisha and youngest dd Kayla came over with a picnic. They brought Taco Bell,Mcdonalds and donuts plus milkshakes!I could have gotten angry and yelled but WHY? I am ok and made myself some stir-fry!I had half a donut and half a small milkshake. We then took a long hike to what I like to call"Fountain Mountain"It's a housing area with alot of hills and ALOT of homes have fountains in the yards.Mom!They yelled are you serious?Yep I laughed and handed them both waters.By the time we came back to the car, they fell in the car and didn't say a word! emoticon Huffing and puffing,Alisha said are you serious? You hike that place 3 times a week?Yep I laughed want to go again Saturday?NOOOOOOO!they both yelled.Kayla said from the backseat"I get it mom,no more fast food!I've learned my lesson today!! emoticon They actually did well on that hike and said they would go again and that they have sore muscles in their eyelids from it emoticon emoticon SUSAN

Congratulations, you handled that situation with class and courage. I have had cake and ice cream for the last two days and I feel like just giving up on myself. I am tired, frustrated and disappointed in me. You did great. All the best. emoticon emoticon

Roberta is such a lady!

Wednesday, May 01, 2013

I love people!I can deal with just about anyone.Saturday I was with a group of ladies handing out fans to the elderly. If they live in certain high crime areas they will not open windows to cool off.And who can blame them?Well we had successfully handed out about 325 fans, when along comes this woman. She is frowning and so rude to us.She asked us for money to go buy an air conditioner!Roberta, the supervisor says...No we're only giving out fans. The lady just walks over to her and remarks that we are very stupid people. This is Texas!she shouts.Who gives out fans?Roberta stayed calm and asked was she low income elderly.Did she want a fan?She picked up a cup of water and poured it on Roberta! The ladies husband walked over grabbed her and apologized, handed me $100 to buy more fans and left.We all turned to the dripping Roberta and saw she was smiling and fanning herself."She don't know she just cooled me off" emoticon We all laughed and continued our day,a long day! emoticon emoticon SUSAN

Getting a workout!

Wednesday, April 17, 2013

My muscles are crying for mercy and i'm sweating like a pig but it feels great.I walked the dog and washed both cars, shampooed their carpets and cleaned the garage. Why do our kids and relatives think that because we have a garage that it's their right to store stuff in there?I have a jumbo space in there but,it's filled with my daughters' things. They want me to store stuff they havn't got room for.I told them that they have until Sunday to come and rescue what's theirs or it goes to a city wide yard sale!!Maybe the proceeds can go to families that were burned out of homes in an apartment.I have baby seats(the baby is 7)baby clothes, dressers, clothes, beds, shoes, pots,l
amps, cushions a couch 3 desks and numerous boxes of linens!!!5 years ago my oldest lost her job and we stored her household. Now my DH wants a shop for his tools and a table.I gave them 3 years ago time to give it or sell it.That's mean!she shouted at me yesterday,What am I going to do with it?Get storage?I'm ready to get our space back and also make a laundry room.Anyone got any advice to keep the PEACE? emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon SUSAN

Whose peace are you trying to keep? DH and you want to enjoy the use of that space. Why not just donate the lot and get someone to take it all away. Tell your children, if they want the stuff, they can come take it beforehand, because it's all being picked up at whatever time.
Then enjoy the space you have made available for you both.

    You have given her YEARS!
I was once told 'if you haven't used it in a year, you don't need it'.
Bless others who can use it now with the 'stuff' that is cluttering up your garage.

My advice is to keep steady and hold your ground. They will get over it. Tough love will only bring respect although they won't see it now.

Jehovas witness caught robbing his neighbor??

Tuesday, April 16, 2013

I read that in the paper and thought how awful...Is it really? He was stealing food to feed his little kids.I am a mom and know if my kids were hungry,as kids,I would have done what was necessary to feed them.We are all human and make mistakes. My dad was so proud as a father that he wouldn't go with mom to get free state offered food.We kids went many a day with fruit off our own trees as meals! We didn't think we were poor.Until,A social worker came to our door with boxes of food.Someone reported my parents for negligence.Really? We had a roof, clothes, shoes and went to school daily.I know its different today but,We had something a lot of people don't...LOVE!We had neighbors and relatives that reached out a helping hand.We had our local Church trade day 2x a month. We all know by now that people do awful things. The Boston Marathon and the bombs?People were killed and maimed but the people came back stronger....Hey its America and we will survive, fight like hell and come back stronger than ever to show the coward who killed that little boy...USA kicks butt! emoticon Susan

Well someone would have a hard time getting into my house, but if they were determined enough, I guess they could! I don't want anyone in my house uninvited, but I will feed the hungry!
I think that was a great response.

You know if I found a neighbor steeling food from my house to feed their children I would respond by inviting the family to dinner. Isn't that what most people would do?

Here come the snakes!

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

Every year at this time we see snakes by the dozens.I was having a rigorous walk when I spy Jake laying in my path.Of course my hero dog comes lunging and barking to defend her mama.I will not kill anything living if I can help it!So I pulled her leash and off we went ONLY to run across another snake! We went home and I finished on the treadmill.I know when to s-s-s-s-s-stay inside!! emoticonSUSAN

I absolutely hate walking on my treadmill, but if I had to deal with snakes, I would learn to love it. Hope they are gone soon so you can get back to being outside.
