He came at me like a mountain

Saturday, January 26, 2013

I was walking in the park when I heard someone frantically calling STOP BUSTER!!COME NOW!!!I was thinking that some little kid was giving his mama trouble.I looked up and here came the biggest dog I've ever seen in my life!!He was a big hairy great dane/wolfhound mix heading towards the busy road.I was so scared but I reached out and grabbed his leash. He was panting and pulling. His mama came up,crying and Thanking me.She was hugging and laughing and crying all at the same time!Buster was like trying to hold onto a train,I was very brave to do that because big dogs terrify me.Anyone have a dog story to share? emoticon emoticon SUSAN

Very brave! Right now I am taking care of my pastor's dog while he is in the hospital. My dog is in a bit of a sniit becasue her territory has been invaded. they are getting used to each other but slowly.

Wow! Large dogs are scary & you were indeed brave to save him from running in the street. Glad you and the dog are OK.

As we age,I feel if we cant laugh at ourselves whats the sense? My older friend Margaret hates to shop alone and so I will go along to keep her on budget. She takes me for lunch afterwards.Well today we went to grocery shop and she stepped over to bag up some veggies.I turned for a second to admire a baby and POOF!Maggie was gone!!I had the cart,so where was she?Sue,she hollered where did you go?I pointed to her cart and the harried lady looking around.Maggie,I have the cart!Mam,I laughed we have your cart, seems Maggie's trying to pay for two today. We finished, filled her bags and went to get in the car..She laughed OOPS! I locked the keys inside...Just as she was calling a lock company,I looked inside her car and there was a baby seat...HAHA It wasnt her car!It reminds me that we have to laugh at times!!Especially at ourselves emoticon emoticon

This is too funny, but can relate at times of doing some silly things myself, and know others are there too. Thanks for a giggle today.

That is funny. My dad used to drive a blue taurus. So my sister and I went grocery shopping with him. We went out to the car and we were trying our darndest to get the doors to unlock. We heard beeping and just happened to look across the parking lot. We were trying to get into the wrong car.

This other time we were sitting in a car with a hatch back and someone came by and opened the hatchback. They had mistaken our car for theirs.

These things happen to the best of us. Something similar happened to a cousin of mine. She told me how one winter day, after leaving the mall, she had to clean the snow off her car. This took her about 15 minutes or so. She goes to put the keys in the lock and wonders why her key doesn't work ???

Long story short, she shoveled out the wrong car !! Her car was in the next aisle.

Oops indeed.

It's a walk in the park

Thursday, January 24, 2013

I always seem to start off my walk in the park with ear buds in and determination to getter done!9 out of 10 times I do not succeed!I start talking to someone and next thing you know,Im out of time.Hurrying to get some walking in and rushing home to prep dinner for DH!Lately DH has been working every day of the week and he gets grouchy at me.I take it and move on!!Yesterday,I had mild surgery to my scalp, removing a possible cancerous growth.I ended up with 8 stitches!I went to get pain meds, rushed home to grill some flank steak, rinsed some black beans, pulled out, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, jalapenos and placed it all in the fridge.I made a fajita salad and baked some tortillas till crispy. He came in the door and says you're just getting dinner started?SWELL!!Stomped off acting all huffy and came back to apologize when he saw dinner on the table...LOL!Not only did he truly enjoy the fajita salad he bragged and said he would look before he leaps from now on...Just another walk in the park! emoticonSUSAN

My cousin Thomas has downs.

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Thomas came into my life when I was 3,he was born the day after my birthday. His mama abandoned him at the hospital and my aunt took him to foster.HA!He was the sweetest baby,no health problems at all and he blossomed under the adoring love of family. We got into much trouble as he was treated equal to all of us cousins. He was usually the culprit to pranks. He once took a marker and made a face on our grandmother's underwear!!He was spanked and put in the corner. He said grams,I still love you...her face filled with pride. emoticonHe went to the same school and same classes as we did cause he was"Smarter than your average bear"He went to dances, got valentines, had dates(he was a gentleman)and graduated with honors. My aunt passed away and his sister took her place caring for Thomas. She saw to it he went through and finished college to become a physician's assistant.I got an invitation for his wedding in June and I can't wait!!His fiance is a real beauty....because she loves him! emoticon SUSAN

Papa Gino is getting fit!

Saturday, January 19, 2013

He is large and in charge...Papa Gino.He had a stroke a few years ago and fell into a depression(he sits in a trance-like state)Recently he was transferred to our facility. To be closer for his daughter to visit was the plan.If we dont get them busy and make them exercise they get grouchy and will sleep alot. So,nurse Lisa puts on music they like and challenges them to dance or act silly.Trust me they act all kinds of funny, silly and shake arms and legs and a little BOOTY.It's fun and we all laugh alot.Gino sits by the window and watches the birds.Raquel aka Rocky a feisty lady that shines like a sunbeam took Gino's hands and started dancing with him.He didnt speak but now hums!!She kisses his cheeks, brings him magazines, reads to him and WOW!What an improvement!!Gino is so improved that he's going to the exercise facility and talks a little bit. He's lost 18 pounds, smiles all the time and answers us with "YES MAM"His appetite has increased and he started laughing at funny dance time.I splurged and bought him a warm up set and sneakers for our walks outside. He thinks he is Mr.Studmuffin! They are all planning a Valentines party/dance and as he sits at the craft table humming to music and cutting out hearts, Im amazed at how far he's come. The sparkle is in his eyes and we are so happy to see the happiness in his daughters face as well.Sometimes just a little love and attention is all people need.... emoticon emoticonSUSAN
