Family Christmas tree lighting

Saturday, December 22, 2012

My oldest daughter and her new fiance came over for dinner and helped decorate the tree.We had a healthy dinner followed by a healthy fruit salad! The granddaughter had enough energy for 6 people and she exhausted us all.The dog took it for an hour and ran off to hide!Sometimes I feel guilty for all I have when there are others that have nothing.I am so grateful for Spark People and all ya'll have instilled in me.Thank You All and Merry Christmas emoticon SUSAN emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Buddy the wonder dog!

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Buddy is my BF's dog.He ran out in front of a car one day and lost his back leg.One day while we were decorating her house for Christmas,Buddy started acting strange. He was barking at Joy and he was pulling on her jacket. She laughed and resumed hanging lights. He resorted to shoving at me and looking at me as to say "follow me"He cut monkeyshines, ran in circles and finally I followed him. It's just his way of getting you to pay attention!Joy laughed.I saw him start to dig at the side of her house and saw that he was after something.Joy,I said It better not be a skunk!Buddy had disappeared under the house and I went to get a flashlight. When I returned Buddy was coming out with a newborn kitten clenched lovingly in his mouth.Mew,mew, mew went the kitten.Joy was hollering what is it?It my dear is a beautiful new kitten and I think Buddy went in for another one!!Joy ended up crawling under the house and bringing out 5 more! This is my month for kitties I laughed. The mama was very cold and wet..again we havent had rain!!!Buddy was nervously pacing around, yipping and barking at us and we gave him a treat. He didnt eat the treat but laid it in front of the hissing cat!!We heard more mewing and found two more kittens...WOW!My DH laughed at us and said we are cat magnets....I tend to agree.Joy's DH brought home a pet bed for the new familia and she's fostering the brood while they recooperate and grow.Buddy was spotted with the cat curled up on his bed emoticon emoticon emoticonSUSAN

What a buddy indeed. Congrads on the new litter :)

Sad that animals are better to each other than some humans are.

judgement of my peers...priceless

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

I once stepped into a beauty salon with my daughter, she was 10 at the time.I walked up and placed my name on the sign in sheet.I was ignored to the point I felt invisible. It took my 10 year old to walk up to the lady in charge and ask"why are you taking other people when,my mom has sat here for an hour? The lady looked embarrassed and said"we dont have a chair big enough for her"was her excuse!!I was always taught as a child to "BE NICE" to others but that day I was changed by my daughters boldness. She felt a need to defend me but, from that day forward I was my own defender.Fat or thin I will not be degraded and treated like a nobody. All my daughters are grown and lord help anyone that disrespects me!It rarely happens because I ask people are you having a bad day?I can understand that but not disrespect.Usually they apologize!I read PINKHOPE's blog and some people are just mean,no excuses for their rudeness.Treat others as you want to be treated...with kindness! emoticonSUSAN

This is priceless. I sat or tried to sit on a bus when I was in Columbus, the little black lady screamed. The bus driver stopped the bus and looked at us. He said What Is The Problem? She said she is going to squesh me. He told her there was plenty of room. I tried to sit down and she just carried on. This is one of the long side seats. Yes another skinny person could have fit 2 times in it. The other larger dark skin lady looked at me and smiled, she said Please Sit Down. The other woman got up. So at the next stop another big girl got on. We said sit here. She said Are You Sure? We laughed & said Yes. Going down the road, we came to a sharp turn. We didn't move. We were laughing so hard. It was the most comfortable ride. The little lady just sat there hanging on to the bar of the seat, she almost fell off the seat.

It should never be about how big we are. Shame on the beauty shop that didn't have larger seats.

texting/talking on a cell phone while driving..aaaarg!

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Me and my DH were involved in an accident today! The driver that hit us was a mother with a newborn and toddler. She was in such a hurry to read a text that she ran a stop sign and plowed into us!She t-boned us on my side of the car and broke my arm.Our car is ruined beyond driving and she wouldnt even apologize to us.We were royally shook up but thankful those babies were ok.Im an extreme advocate of cell phone safety! The moving vehicle is no place for texting/talking and driving!!!We could have been killed! If you do use your phone while driving...and I can get one of you to stop well, thats one that thought about the dangers. It took a whole second to happen, before we knew it our car was turned around and clipped by another person. The lady was fined $500 and is suspended because she's done it before. emoticon Ya'll SUSAN

I have to admit that I am one of those irresponsible people and you are ttally right, it IS stupid nd dangerous to fiddle with your phone while driving. To my defence I will say that I am trying to stop but not to anser when it calls when I am driving is really really hard! My solution will probably be to intall and all hands-free system and use voice control...

Im not a cat person

Thursday, December 13, 2012

I opened my front door to get my newspaper and there she sat.She was wet and shivering, belly full of kittens and it was not raining!I picked her up with a towel and brought her inside.Meow!she licked my hand and looked up at me as if to say HEY THANKS!I opened some cat food from my friend and she ate like a hound dog!She was a yellow striped tabby with pink feet and nose. She curled up in the towel and slept peacefully while I called the no kill shelter.Rob the new manager told me he would come get her.I sat down to pay bills and fill out xmas cards when I heard the cat panting and gasping.Oh no I thought not now! But,there came the first wriggling kitten, then came 6 more and while she lay there looking proud as a peacock out came 2 more!WOW!I went out to mail my bills when I realized someone posted a picture and reward of "Tammie"Hey!I yelled to the lady walking away,I have her!You do? she put her hand to her mouth and I saw tears as she approached me.Thank goodness!I was so worried she sobbed. You have 9 grandkittens I laughed. She hugged me so tight I thought she would break me in half.Hi,Im Lori and Thank You so much....The happy lady walked out with a beer box full of 9 new kittens and mama kitten.Yes you see Tammie is still a kitten,at just 7 months old she gave birth.Cats and puppies 4 months old can get pregnant.I called Rob with the good news and he thanked me for saving him the trip.I would also like to say that by hurting strays,it is wrong!A neighbor of ours once tried throwing boiling water on a cat because it was sleeping on her porch.????Who does that?Im not a cat person but I will give them food and shelter and a cuddle too..... emoticon... emoticon SUSAN

Boiling water! How cruel. Cats are getting fewer and owners are being more careful around here. We have coyotes in the 'hood.

I am also not a cat person. But since I have dogs (who also are NOT cat fans) felines choose not to frequent my porches. But I wouldn't harm them if they did!! Kudos to you for your care of the kitties. Merry Christmas and God Bless!
